The NES game we know as River City Ransom was a re-skin of a Japanese game with schoolboys. I'd like to see that game, though it probably plays the same.

@davidevoid Yes, that torturous A-B button layout is a non-starter for me, and especially for players who use their index and middle fingers instead of their thumbs. I also have doubts about the longevity of that wooden hinge; even if it doesn't entirely break, you'll soon be finding creative ways to keep the screen from flopping about.

A few years ago, while 3ds was still in the doghouse, I bought several games for less than $15 US, including Nintendogs. LBW would be a good buy if I didn't already have it, but the others should have been marked down a long time ago.

@MikeW The book they had on Nintendo Minute was not hardcover. And what is this pdf? I've only glanced at it, but it seems there should be more text, even if it's Japanese.

Poor sound. Graphics that slow to a crawl when the 3D is turned on (do they depend on players not using 3D?). Seems that TT Games will continue to make bad LEGO games for the 3DS as long as people buy them.

This is one of my favorites (that I've so far unlocked) on the G.G Series Collection Plus. Match adjacent colors, as usual, but according to the direction of the arrows. Still figuring out the different ways to chain combos. I need more GP!

Don't really need this now, with all G.G Series coming to NA DSiWare. A retail DS cartridge would be extremely unlikely for NA now.

A G.G Series DSiWare game was just given a 9/10 on this site. Is it in any way comparable OOT? A game is reviewed in comparison to other works of its time, genre, platform, etc. Shall we go back and re-score every classic console game in comparison with today's games? READ the review, watch some gameplay video online to decide if the game is right for you, but let the score stand for what it meant in its original context.

I read the whole review, wondering how it played on the Wii U. Why are they reviewing a game this old now if it's not on the Virtual Console?

I have Toad and the Splatoon 3-pack, but only because they unlock features of games I have (I don't have SSB), and I won't pay more than original list price. Collecting? Forget it! Not in this market.

My MicroSD card's only 8GB, and I hadn't seen any new Dinosaur Office for a while, so I chucked Nintendo Video to save memory.

Would voice chat be of any use if some players had it turned off? Maybe it would be blocked by the parents. You'd want everyone on your team to be able to hear you, so teams could be matched according to who had chat turned on, but that would be a huge advantage if the other team was "mute".

I have the first on disc, so no. I wouldn't say no to Super Mario All Stars, though that will probably never happen as a Wii U download when the Super Mario Advance series on Virtual Console basically covers it.

Got the three pack Splatoon, asked for the game and free squirt gun, which they hadn't unpacked yet because I was the first to ask for the game. When did amiibo become more important than the games they work with?

I spent all my coins early; I could have got a couple games with what I overpaid for physical goods--which I don't have yet!

I hadn't thought about color problems in Splatoon because all I've seen of it had quite distinct and vibrant colors, but it's good to know that there is an accommodation for the chromatically challenged.

If only it would fix that problem where my New 3DS XL sometimes won't "wake up" from standby. That's a stability issue, right?

For all the "cart only" auctions on ebay: have all the rumble paks been parted out, or just lost?

@LeeGarbutt I don't think anyone was expecting online, and you did mention the lack of download multiplayer, but what about local where everyone has the DS cart? I'm sure the manual would definitively state no connectivity if it were not possible.

Agreed. This is an interesting project for digital electronics hobbyists, but if you can't get an actual G&W, the DSiWare versions are the next best options, for $1.99 each.

I enjoyed Mattel Electronics Auto Race back in the day, and even the electro-mechanical Tomy Blip, so I will definitely give this a try.

I have most of the pieces already, I'll wait for the next Streetpass Weekend.

Sega did some clever things with sprites and layered backgrounds that had a 3D look, but it could not do SNES-like scaling and rotation without the CD attachment.

I never used the cradle for the original 3DS, and that one had a much more clever design.

1992. Kirby's Dreamland is one of the reasons I bought the original Game Boy.

Since NL's using side-by-side 3D, the effective resolution is 960x1080. The Virtual Boy's 384x224, while quite sharp for its day, is going to look fuzzy when enlarged to a big screen.

@dumedum VB had separate left and right views (in red) for each eye, 3DS combines both views on one screen. The brain doesn't care how the images get there, so it looks basically the same.

More 3D videos please! I don't have the New 3DS yet, but the Galactic Pinball video looked cool on my 3D TV. Kind of fuzzy, though.
