Re: Random: Baten Kaitos Speedrun Attempt Leads To Temporary Twitch Account Ban

Cynas

@rjejr Honestly I would argue that the battle system in Origins is more complex and requires a lot more planning. Instead of each character having their own deck like in Eternal Wings, a single deck is shared among your 3 characters in origins. That means that you have to be smart and know what cards to throw away to plan for the next character attacking. You also have to manage the deck itself more carefully because you need a good balance of healing cards, spells, defensive cards, and attack cards. Not only that but the combat also has a much better pace to it. The defense turn added too much time to the battle, and I'm glad they took it out. Also the voice acting in Origins is actually bearable.

Re: Nintendo's Switch Preview Was Watched By More Than 23 Million People

Cynas

It's pretty impressive that so many people have watched it and liked the idea. It's promising that the Switch will do much better than the Wii U. Although a good chunk of the views are probably from people viewing it multiple times too, trying to find little details. I know I've gone back to watch it 3 or 4 times now.

Re: Review: Gurumin 3D: A Monstrous Adventure (3DS eShop)

Cynas

Despite all of the praise this game has gotten, I haven't been enjoying it as much as I thought I would. It suffers from some major frame rate drops, the story is bland, and the gameplay gets super repetitive and doesn't feel very rewarding. Normally I love action RPGs, and I still got a bit of enjoyment out of it, but I personally don't think it deserves the scores that it has.

Re: Random: Paper Mario: Color Splash Has an Iffy Issue in its Battle System

Cynas

@Yorumi Yeah that's completely understandable. I'm not trying to argue that it's a perfect game, but I still enjoyed it and personally think it's worth the purchase despite its flaws. I also play plenty of PC games that are fun and cost much less, but I still think Color Splash is worthy of the price considering the amount of hours of enjoyment I got out of it.

Re: Random: Paper Mario: Color Splash Has an Iffy Issue in its Battle System

Cynas

@Yorumi Color Splash does have a lot more to offer than just the comedy aspect. The visuals are beautiful, the music is great, the level design is really clever and fun, and some levels don't even feature much combat at all, like the ghost hotel level which focuses more on puzzle solving. Plus, once you get further in the game you can instantly kill smaller enemies by hitting them with your hammer or jumping on them which makes it easier to avoid battles. I personally hate the combat system and I still really enjoyed the game.

Re: Random: Paper Mario: Color Splash Has an Iffy Issue in its Battle System

Cynas

@Yorumi I personally really enjoyed the card battle system in the Baten Kaitos games. Although I do agree that most games do it terribly and this one would be much better if the battle system was like the originals. Color Splash is still a lot of fun, but the combat is just boring and tedious. From the first two games, the badges added customization and strategy, the leveling system gave incentive to actually fight enemies, and the partner system added variety and some fun puzzle aspects outside of battle. The card system just stresses me out that I'll use up a card that I might need later, especially when it comes to Things.

Re: Random: Paper Mario: Color Splash Has an Iffy Issue in its Battle System

Cynas

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Ah yeah, that's right. I just read the article and didn't watch the video at first. Didn't realize it was Kamek that turned his cards into hammers. When the article says "if you somehow load up your inventory with nothing but hammers" it sounds like they just purchased nothing but hammers. I didn't think it was possible for Kamek to turn your cards into hammers while fighting a flying enemy.

Re: Guide: Everything You Need To Know About The Pokémon GO Plus

Cynas

@rjejr That's pretty surprising that a phone released this May only has 1GB of RAM. A lot of the phones being released this year have 4GB of RAM. I also find it surprising that you can run Pokemon GO just fine with 1GB of RAM. I had a phone with 1GB of RAM until I upgraded a month ago, and Pokemon GO would overheat my phone and crash all the time.

Re: Guide: Everything You Need To Know About The Pokémon GO Plus

Cynas

@rjejr That's not that much for an Android phone. Pokemon GO itself also says it requires 2GB of RAM on the Play Store(Although it can be run with less, it often lags or crashes). Most Android phones that have been released within the past 2-3 years should have 2GB of RAM or more.

Re: Guide: Everything You Need To Know About The Pokémon GO Plus

Cynas

The fact that it can track your distance while your phone is asleep is really convenient. It's still too pricey for me though.

It would have gotten a lot more sales if it was released earlier in Pokemon GO's lifetime. I know a lot of people that have cancelled their pre-orders of the Plus accessory because they have grown bored of the game.

Re: Pokémon GO Confirmed for Apple Watch

Cynas

The Pokemon GO craze seems to be dying down a lot. That combined with the fact that hardly anyone has an Apple Watch means this was most likely a wasted effort. But I guess they probably have plenty of money to spare on projects like this.

Re: PokéVision Creator Writes Open Letter On Niantic Shutting Down Fan-Made Pokémon GO Tools

Cynas

I can guarantee you that many of the people who say "Oh I only used PokeVision because the step counter is broken" would be using it even if it wasn't broken. It was an exploit to quickly catch rare Pokemon that you wouldn't have otherwise known were around you. The gym battles can get pretty competitive, so obviously people would use PokeVision to get the strongest Pokemon as quick as possible. I think it's a good thing that it was taken down.

That being said, I don't do much gym battling so it really doesn't affect me much at all. I would never use PokeVision for completing my Pokedex because I find that would suck the fun out of the game. I like the surprise of seeing a rare Pokemon on my list, and the suspense of whether I'll find it or not before it disappears. I also like to use Pokemon GO as a motivation to go out and walk more. If I used PokeVision then I would just drive to the location that has the Pokemon I want, then drive home. Plus if I completed my Pokedex now, I would have nothing to do in the game anymore. I'd like to slowly complete my Pokedex to keep me entertained until the next generation of Pokemon comes out.

Re: Rumour: Concept Art Reveals the Final Evolutions of the Alola Starters

Cynas

@Classic603 I don't think it has much to do with age, it's probably a variety of factors. I think it's mainly a different taste in art. With every generation there's going to be Pokemon you dislike and Pokemon you like, but there's always someone out there who likes a pokemon you dislike. I'm assuming you also grew up with generation one and played each one, so you must have noticed that happened even when you were a kid. Another factor could be people creating an image of their final forms in their mind, but then are shocked to see what they end up looking like. This would be especially true for newer generations, since it seems like all recent startes vastly change compared to their initial design. Usually this kind of biased hate fades away eventually though.

As for things that I like about each of the final evolutions...

Rowlet: I think the idea of him using his wing as a bow is very cool and I like both the mysterious and fun vibe he gives off, and it just seems really clever and fitting to me. Plus I find the design eye catching, not too complex and not too simple.

Litten: I can understand why people are hating on him. There does seem to be some sort of weird trend where 4-legged starters turn into 2-legged creatures by their final evolution (lile Cyndaquil, Embroar, Mudkip, and Fennekin), and some are upset with it because they think he's Fire/Fighting when it seems to be that he's actually Fire/Dark. Personally, as far as the humanoid portion goes, I'm glad it went this route. We have plenty of cat pokemon so far, and to my knowledge this is the first humanoid cat pokemon we've gotten, which makes him unique. Otherwise I think he would have been too similar to Sun's legendary. I think a lot of people were hoping he would turn out to look more like a lion to redeem Pyroar's underwhelming appearance, but we already have a badass looking lion now. He seems like a strong protector, which is what I expect from fire starters.

Popplio: This final design is very elegant and beautiful. It seems to balance out the other two starters. We have one starter that is cool/mysterious, one that is strong, and one that is elegant/beautiful. It is a bit surprising that it didn't keep the clown appearance, but I still like the design.

Overall it comes down to personal preferance. Although it seems like these are pretty legit, they still aren't 100% confirmed yet either. I don't think anyonr should get too upset or hopeful until they are officially announced.

Re: Here Are Your Pokémon GO Team Leaders

Cynas

Candela is my favorite design and Spark is a close second. Mystic is by far the most disappointing. The shade of blue on the outfit seems way too light, and the overall design is a little ugly in my opinion.

Re: Video: Watch Pokémon GO Mania Unfold In New York City

Cynas

If these people weren't outside playing Pokemom GO, most of these people would be inside playing video games. The only difference is you cant see the people cooped up inside their house. I'm sure many of the people commenting calling this pathetic have propbably spent many hours playing video games themselves. At least these people are getting fresh air and exercise while doing it.

Also, people should lighten up about this. Let others have their fun and quit judging them for it.
