As part of the big Anniversary year celebrations, the Pokémon Generations animations have proven to be a hit on YouTube. With good cause, too, as they recreate iconic parts of Pokémon lore and have impressive production values.
Episode 5: The Legacy is now live, and it goes big on dramatic dialogue. There's also a stylish hat and a couple of extreme hairdos, if you're interested in that sort of thing.
Update: Episode 6: The Reawakening is also live:
Have you been enjoying the Pokémon Generations series?

Episode 6 is also out. They were alright, but the voice acting isn't all that great.
It would be great to see Giovanni and Team Rocket finally return. It has seriously been too long!
@Lizuka this is just what happens in heart gold and soul silver.
The scene with Giovanni and his son is present word for word in those games, but it can't be accessed without a special event Pokémon.
@Lizuka These events happened pretty much word for word in a side quest in HeartGold and SoulSilver. When you bring an event CelebI to the Ilex Shrine after a certain point, you time travel see the events of the episode happen in game. Shortly after, you time travel again to the radio tower incident except at a Tohjo Falls. Giovanni is there listening to the radio broadcast about to rejoin Team Rocket. Then you battle him, beat him, and his ambitions are put on halt again.
So in all likelihood, there's likely not going to be a return of Giovanni in SuMo. Like you said, these seem to be going in order and it just so happens that Team Rocket had the most relevance in gen I, gen II, and their remakes. Future episodes will likely move onto Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, and Kalos conflicts.
Yay, episodes 5 and 6 were both great. I like the focus on the interesting minor characters instead of the main protagonist.
Looker is going to become the Phil Coulson of the Pokéverse: he's seen every region but not every trainer has seen him in-game.
Of course, hopefully this doesn't mean he will kick the bucket in Sun and Moon.
Tied with Episode 4 of Pokémon Generations, this is my favorite episode. It was really nice seeing Silver and expanding on his character.
Considering I never played the remakes, the whole "Silver is Giovanni's son" thing was completely unknown to me. I am actually quite surprised they put something from an event as one of their key moments in the franchise.
@AlexSora89 No worries, if he does he'll just come back in a future game thanks to some blue Pokemon
@Jayvir It was not just a singular event, he has been Giovanni's son from the beginning, it's just that that scene was from the event. In Pokemon adventures in the FRLG arc on the Sevii Islands that is a major part of the plot.
As much as Silver would hate to admit it, the apple doesn't fall as far from the tree as he thinks. I seem to recall someone ahem stealing their first Pokemon.
That said, this was a very good episode. I'll be watching six next, thanks to everyone for mentioning that was up as well!
@Jayronauron
Is that a Kree reference or do you have someone in mind in particular?
This show is boring, I want more action.
@Xaldin English is bad..? The dutch version is ten times more worse. Especially if you compare it to the main anime in dutch because that one has pretty good voice acting and you can hear that the VA's really enjoy there characters. I watch XY series on TV a while ago and i wa suprised that ash still has the same dutch actress as when i was kid in 1999 en up until the hoenn saga when i was still watching it. Only James and Meowth has very different voices compared to older episodes.
But i was very disappointed with the dutch version of generations. Its a very unrelatable way of dialogue that they have and nobody in the netherlands talks like that.
@Ninten-san Show isnt boring at all. The main anime has plenty of action for over 500 episodes go watch that. This is for the main game lovers who still have unanswered questions with certain events happening in the game.
Would never happen, but here's hoping:
Giovanni returns, Gale of Darkness sequel on NX?
@Jayvir It was revealed a long time ago back in the manga and also they mentioned it by a hint in FireRed/LeafGreen too by a scientist Rocket member describing Silver's appearance.
Is that red haired kid the voice of Dwyer from Fates?
Nice to bring it up the possibility of a return but I'm not sure we'll see them again. I'm pretty sure in that HeartGold/SoulSilver event. That was the end of Giovanni's ambition and rocket was stopped.
@Sanangelo89 That's your opinion, I never said the show has to be boring just because I think it is.
BTW, I'm a main game lover too.
@AlexSora89 Yep, Kree reference.
Disappointed by the lack of Johto Pokémon. But overall I quite liked the subject and tone of this episode.
So, it's never been mentioned, but doesn't the resemblance between Silver and Rocket Executive Ariana make you wonder who the mother is? XD Maybe theres an untold story between Giovanni and Ariana. ..Or I'm reading too into anime hairstyles XD
dang pokemon got interesting!
It feels like most of the episodes so far are of Gen 2.
