Re: Review: Triangle Strategy - Square Enix Plots A Total Tactical Triumph

Cynas

@PJOReilly Yeah it's always nice to have that option for sure. I think I'll still stick with the English voices since I love to just sit back and listen. The voice acting was still mostly fine, there were just some lines that broke the immersion a bit, but I don't think it was enough to completely turn it off.

On another note one thing I really liked was being able to see character profiles during dialogue by pressing X. The game does a very good job at helping you remember the different characters and their roles/origin through the story alone (usually it takes me hours to digest a games world and its chatacters, but i caught on by chapter 2 in this game), but it's still a really nice feature to have to help solidify the information to memory.

After playing the demo I totally agree with the voice acting critique, the delivery of some of the lines feels way off. But I'm still happy we got voice acting for such a text heavy game. The demo took a little while for me to warm up to the game but I ended up really loving it, can't wait until I get my copy!

Re: The First Review For Triangle Strategy Is Now In

Cynas

@Juga I think people should go into the game with a different mindset. Based on the demo it's more of a visual novel with SRPG stages scattered within. If you can manage to get yourself immersed in the world's politics and go in with that expectation it can be quite fun.

Re: Microsoft Buys Activision Blizzard, Now Owns Call Of Duty And Crash Bandicoot

Cynas

I'm assuming the recent controversy with Activision Blizzard contributed to their willingness to sell. But I guess not many companies wouldn't sell for a figure that big.

Microsoft kind of needs to make big moves like this if they want to stay afloat in the market. Nintendo and Sony have consistently had better console sales (except for the Wii U), so Microsoft needed to get a better reason to own their console (or Game Pass on PC at least). Between Game Pass, Bethesda, and Activision Blizzard they're really showing they're trying to solidify their place in the gaming market.

It was a smart move by them, but hopefully it doesn't get too extreme.

Re: Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Brings The Fight To Nintendo Switch Next Year

Cynas

@SuperZeldaFun Except it was review bombed. The vast majority of the people on Metacritic who gave the game a 0 were because of the region lock drama, and had nothing to do with the quality of the game. Just check to see how many of those 0 scores actually wrote a review. There's a reason why the critics gave the game glowing praise (has between 84-86% depending on the console version), and the game was widely loved by fans too. Obviously there are people out there who didn't like it, and that's valid, but the user score on metacritic was clearly review bombed and that's not something people should go by when they make their decision to purchase.

Re: 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim On Switch Will Feature Brand New Bonus Content

Cynas

@JustMonika No there's just one ending. Each of the 13 characters has their own individual story and you'll be switching back and forth between them, but there's still one definitive ending once you've completed all the characters' stories.

Within the chapters of the characters stories there are different routes you'll have go back and take to progress, but I wouldn't really consider them endings.

Re: 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim On Switch Will Feature Brand New Bonus Content

Cynas

@Krull For the RTS section game has 7 tutorial stages and about 30 regular stages. Each can be beaten within a few minutes so you'll definitely be spending the majority of your time in the visual novel section. If you take into account the dialogue before the battles and time for upgrading/building sentinels, I'd say it's roughly 5 hours of RTS gameplay and 25 hours of visual novel gameplay.

Re: Review: Pikmin Bloom - Pokémon GO's Sister Title Is A Glorious, Glorified Pedometer

Cynas

@Joeynator3000 There are sprouts at landmarks that can grow into big flowers if you walk around them. I don't think you need to interact with them in any way, you just need to use some petals before you start your walk to leave trail of flowers behind you. I don't think big flowers actually do anything though.

I think there's also mushrooms you can come across which you can send your pikmin to attack and get fruit, but I haven't come across one yet. At least I don't think I have, since I just leave the app closed on my walks.

Re: Review: Pikmin Bloom - Pokémon GO's Sister Title Is A Glorious, Glorified Pedometer

Cynas

@BlueOcean Yeah like Octane said you don't really need to open the app often at all. It's a much more hands-off experience than Pokemon GO. It really is just a fancy pedometer like the review says. You'll get a notification at the end of every day saying how many steps you took that day, and once in a while a notification that you grew a new pikmin, but that's about it.

Re: Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp Will Have Gacha-Style Microtransactions

Cynas

@BloodyMurder The $60 game comes with Danganronpa 1-3 (none of which have microtransactions btw) plus this Ultimate Summer Camp game as a sort of "bonus game" in the collection. It's just one feature in one of the 4 games in the collection, and as they stated it's possible to obtain everything without microtransactions anyway. So no, people will not be paying $60 for a slot machine.

Re: Anniversary: Goodness Me, Is The GameCube Really 20 Years Old?

Cynas

The Gamecube is still my favourite console. It has a lot of my favourite games of all time, or at least my favourite games in the respective series. Chibi-Robo, Pikmin 1/2, Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, Baten Katios, Harvest Moon AWL, Paper Mario TTYD, Metroid Prime 1/2, Luigi's Mansion, Tales of Symphona, some of the best Mario Party games, and so many more stellar titles. The Switch has come close, but hasn't quite taken the top spot for me yet.

Re: Soapbox: Life Is Strange On Nintendo Switch Signals Better LGBTQ+ Rep To Come

Cynas

To the people who say they don't feel the need for representation, that's fine and I'm glad for you. But there are plenty of people who do find it important and that's what this article is about. There are many reasons why people would find representation important, but from my experience it's generally about:

1. People who have felt completely isolated from society and are happy to play something or be a part of something where they feel like they can belong. Maybe they were disowned by their family, maybe their friends deserted them, maybe they've been bullied, or their co-workers are teating them as if they aren't human. It can be many reasons, and we're still at a place in this world where this behavior isn't uncommon.

2. People just want to experience relationships in a way that reflects themselves. Some people don't feel the need to see relationships in media that match their sexual orientation, and that's fine. But what's so wrong with people who want to see relationships that reflect theirs, that have possibly gone through similar struggles? LGBT+ people exist in real life, so naturally it shouldn't be unheard of to see them in media. And yes, straight couples are still depicted MUCH more often, which is totally fine, but for some reason people seem to forget that. Possibly because when they see a straight couple they don't bat an eye or think twice, but as soon as they see a single gay couple it sticks out in their mind and becomes an "agenda" or "pandering".

Maybe someday we can get to the point where people in group 1 won't feel like they need that place to belong anymore, but unfortunately we live in a world where it's still needed. That's the whole point of things like Pride parades, to both make people feel accepted for who they are when they feel like no one else in their life will, and to help normalize being LGBT+ so eventually society won't be uncomfortable when they see LGBT+ people.

And I say this as someone who personally doesn't feel like I need to see representation, but that's because I've been lucky and have people in my life that accept me for being gay, and I don't really care much for seeing relationships in video games in general. But other people do, and those are the people who this article is for.

@khululy I can tell you personally that it's not a choice. I can choose to marry a woman, sure, but I can't ever chose to be sexually attracted to one. It's just physically impossible for me. If you're someone where it is a choice, then you're bisexual or somewhere on the spectrum.

Re: Danganronpa: Decadence Brings Four Murder-Mayhem Games To Switch Later This Year

Cynas

@KateGray It looks like Nintendo deleted and re-uploaded the trailer so the video embedded in the article is currently broken.

Very excited this series is coming to the Switch! Normally I can only play visual novels once but I've played the class trials from all 3 games countless times. They're just so entertaining. Will definitely buy this collection again on Switch. Already own them on PS4 and mobile but I'll gladly triple dip for this series.

Re: Rumour: Genshin Impact For Switch Reportedly Delayed Due To "Weaker Hardware"

Cynas

@Yorumi (referring to your comment about Genshin being unplayable on mobile) It depends on what mobile device you're using, I find the game runs better on my Galaxy S10+ than my PS4. I sometimes play it on my phone for a couple hours at a time and I don't have problems with crashing or overheating. I'm not running on the minimum settings either.

Re: Feature: Every Mega Man Game Ranked

Cynas

I'm kinda surprised all of the Battle Network games ranked so low. I figured maybe one of them would reach at least near the top 10, but they're all in the lower half.

Re: Monster-Catching Metroidvania Monster Sanctuary Is Getting A Major New Game+ Update

Cynas

I enjoyed my time with the game, but I don't think I was a huge fan of the mix of genres. Metroidvania games are all about freedom to move around and explore, but throwing in turn based battles means you're constantly being halted while trying to explore. It just made the flow of the game feel a bit off imo. I feel like I would have enjoyed it more if it was real-time combat instead of turn based, and this is coming from someone who loves turn based RPGs. That being said, the game is still fun and I appreciated the depth of the combat system.
