Re: Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance Switch Resolution Update Now Available

@lumothesinner Thanks, but my point was about the ability or not for PS5 to output the 4K @120Hz that the Switch 2 cannot. If that is so I would definitely lean towards the PS5 version, but if even the PS5 version cannot run at 120Hz, I'll wait to see if the Switch 2 version can at least match the 4K @ stable 60 fps of the PS5 version.

Re: Talking Point: With Prices Rising, Are Your Gaming Habits Changing?

I only have time to play 2–3 games a year (usually one big title and a couple of mid-sized ones), around 200–250 hours at best. Whether a game costs €50 or €100, or whether the system costs €300 or €600 — it really doesn’t matter to me. If I want it, I’ll buy it. When you have a hobby you truly enjoy and can afford it, you don’t overthink the price — within reason, of course.

Long-time fan of the IP but I'll pass, with regret.
Unfortunately, I saw it coming from a distance. A public playtest of ill omen took place only a few months ago: the first impressions were not very encouraging and there was no chance of them fixing it enough without delaying the game, which they did not (Microids I guess...).
Many good intentions, matched by the number of design errors. An overall feeling of misunderstanding of what it means to “modernize a game”: they removed elements with strong potential for innovation (e.g.: the mood system could have been used a la Majora's Mask) and failed to solve certain problems dating back to the time (e.g.: catastrophic jumps).

I cancelled my pre-orders yesterday (Switch and PS5 due to lack of info on version performance).

@SillyG Any iOS device released since iPhone 7 is more powerful than a Switch. And every year, more new iPhones are sold (~200M/year) than Switch were sold over 7 years (~140M in total).
Add to this the compatibility with the very capable ARM Macs and iPads... That's a huge gap in sheer market size.
It makes a lot of sense to prioritize more capable chips vs. trying another "impossible port" to Switch of an aging game they already released a “cloud” version of last year.

Re: Every Nintendo Switch Online N64 Game Ranked

If this "ranking" took playability into account, Goldeneye would be much further in the list. It's properly unplayable with the Switch controls, and I can't bring myself to pay the N64 controller for Switch just for this.

Re: Every Mega Man Game Ranked

I purchased the Megaman X Legacy Collection on Switch on day one and stopped playing it after less than an hour due to very poor performance on the very first level of Megaman X.
I don't remember if it had input lag as some comments mention, but it did have huge drops in frame rate. If they can't even do the first level right...

Currently playing it on Switch. I want to love the game because of its charming visuals and thrilling storyline, but the performance on this version is so bad it's making it difficult at times.
Plus, I just lost 30 minutes of playing time due to a game-breaking bug on Day 77 that has been around since 2016 (5 years!) and still isn't fixed despite being mentioned hundreds or thousands of time online.
Given the success of this game, it's a shame the developers and Nintendo allowed such a broken game to be released on the eShop.

@FoxMcCloud Thanks your reply. It's not that obvious though: some DOOM 1&2 ports were disappointing until patches saved them (Digital Foundry made a great video about that). How colors render, which format they used for the soundtrack, is the framerate consistent... these are valid questions.
As for the rest... surely the Duke remains the Duke, yes

@Turrican280 Still unsure: when looking at the Switch screenshots in this article, I'm afraid this seems like a lot of interface and details for a 6.2” screen.
I own an iPad Pro 9.7” and will likely switch for the new 11” Pro model this year, so I'm really thinking it will likely be more comfortable... at least visually. Gameplay-wise is, a few years ago I played X-COM on iPad: the tablet got really hot after some time, and it was really tiresome for my hand to move around the screen given the many actions the game required. TBS could pose the same issues, although visually it looks more appealing, notwithstanding the absence of the 3rd episode on iOS.

@Turrican280 Thanks for your reply! Too bad for the third episode indeed, I didn't know they simply don't have any plans on porting it to iOS, I guess that's due to Apple's fee but that's disappointing anyway.
