@Porky Well they did release the game early if you brought the deluxe deal on the eshop, you can't even buy it physical in the uk intill next mouth, plus you gotta remember there's still the covid effecting a lot of game developers, while I agree with games being too reliant on patches they can turn a buggy game into a working game (if Sonic 06 had patches it could of fixed a lot of things)
Again Skyward Sword HD is nothing more then just the Wii game with HD textures and Amiibo support, that would be pretty hard to mess up... tho there's still new glitches
I would still call Sonic Colors Ultimate seen it was built on a different engine which is why the Switch is having trouble and not so much on other platforms it has too many changes that aren't in the Wii version not to mention new models, the new customization options for Sonic, Metal Sonic being in the game and a new soundtrack, even the location for red rings are different from the Wii Version.
@Marioracer Sonic Color Ultimate to give credit where it's due they did at least make a full remake of Colors taking advantage of the PS4/Xbox one/PC not just limited to the Switch, there's new models, new modes with Metal Sonic's Rival Rush and Tails being in the game to help you from falling into a pit, Tails never appeared outside the cutscenes and Metal wasn't even in the game lol While Zelda is just the Wii game with new textures it isn't a full remake like Wind Waker Wii U much like the Wii U's twilight princess remaster and Mario Galaxy is a Nvidia Shield port ahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C29QBCY57-E&t=53s which has been out for years along with a few other HD Wii games.
@Porky Because Sonic Colors Ultimate is more of a remake, has new models, remixed music and game modes as well a ton of gameplay changes, while Zelda Skyward Sword is basically like the Zelda Twilight Princess Wii U HD, the Wii game but with HD textures, simple amiibo support and adjusted to work on the Switch kinda like 3D All Stars's port of Galaxy.
@RupeeClock No I meant despite Christen Whitehead having a new engine that matches the Genesis games way more then Sonic 4's edited Rush Engine, SEGA didn't let him make a new 2D Sonic game intill Mania and just kept letting Sonic Team/Dimps mess up Sonic 4. Ironically the CW ports did try to add new levels based on new and unused beta ideas, but SEGA kept getting them removed aside from hidden palace in the Sonic 2 port.
@RupeeClock Much like how it took years for SEGA to allow Mania to happen, with Sonic Team making Sonic 4 and getting outshine by Christian Whitehead's Sonic CD port.
Should of kept Super Mario Bros 35 instead. 1985's Super Mario Bros just had more going then the original Pacman... only one maze layout it's why alot of people prefer Ms.Pac-Man for having 4 different Maze Layouts.
@Clyde_Radcliffe Would say it's a full remake, seeing how it's got new content/modes, a ton of gameplay changes like having Tails and Metal Sonic in stages, new models, new remixed music, while skyward sword just seems like a remaster much like the twilight princess wii u remaster remember that one?
@Clyde_Radcliffe Thing is with the Skyward Sword it's more of a simple remaster, still uses alot of Wii models and such, wouldn't be surprised if it's half emulation and half a port like Super Mario Galaxy was on 3D All Stars, while Sonic Colors Ultimate is a full on remake and since it's being released on other systems/PC it won't be limited to the Switch's hardware power.
@Benjinat They should really, the Wii U already had great Emulation of Game Boy Advance and DS games, only having NES and SNES seems such a step back even after the Wii's VC
@Bryon15 Most of the games you mention were licensed games which is hard for Nintendo to re-release and rare when they did, you could get the 1st Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Nes game on Wii's VC but you had to pay extra cus it was a licensed ip, same with the Indy and Super Star Wars games.
@6ch6ris6 A HD remaster like Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3/Peach Walker would be alot better, since the games still look really good, just needs to be put onto modern systems.
@Pavil Bit odd too when Alex Kidd in miracle already has a enhanced port on Switch thanks to SEGA AGES.. then again it was only Alex Kidd game that wasn't truly awful I mean there's alex kidd in shinobi world but that was more of a Doki Doki Panic sprite swap
Guess people are missing the PC port, that improves the controls, frame rate, adds SGI Render models, fixes some of the glitches/gameplay issues, even adds Luigi and Wario as unlockable characters, that's the best way to play Mario 64. There's the Wii U as well which still has both 64 and 64 DS on it's Virtual Console along with Galaxy 1 and 2.
@Grumblevolcano only reason we even got Super Mario All-Stars back then was due to them testing out the Snes hardware with nes ports before making new games for it, Zelda 2 was being ported to it to show the boost in colors in 1988, figure they finished these tech demos as a easy way to get people to buy the SNES in cart collections or as BS-X downloads which Zelda 1 and the first 3 Mario games got with some new edits/features, I don't see Nintendo going though all the effort to port wii/gc/n64 games to the Switch, 3D World seems more likely since they been doing Wii U ports since the start
Just another Genesis rom release with a fancy tutorial mode.. Virtua Racing seems like the only SEGA AGES release to really push the boat out. that Star Wars Arcade M2 talked about would of been nice, or one of the Dreamcast/Saturn games they hinted at doing when they started this some years ago.. Guess if we want any more rare SEGA arcade games your have to get one of the Arcade 1up machines or that Mini SEGA astro arcade machine
@rjc-32 plus some of the stuff you could get with Club Nintendo was worth getting like Game & Watch Collection for the DS,Mario Cap,statues, Snes Classic Controller for the Wii, and some Nintendo themed playing cards to name a few
@nessisonett I think it would of helped if they translated the Wii port of the 1st game rather then leaving it in Japan only since when it came out on the Gamecube it was near the end of it's life span along with releasing park patrol better releasing it as a Walmart only game and no release in Europe was stupid I think it would of help more people get into the series same with Chibi-Robo! Happy, Rich Big Sweep which follows from the game cube's gameplay and story instead they put more focus in releasing these spin off games worldwide no body wanted.
@Runex2121 But it's no different from Sonic Generations only Modern and Classic have way better level designs, and you had skillz you could customise them, like giving Classic a homing attack/back up shields Mario World/New Mario Bros style, or make Modern's Boost faster/unlimited, using a time stop/chaos control like power as I said Forces even uses the most of the same zones from it too with minor changes Green Hill to Sand Hill tho being way shorter, less open and 3D, even most of the time it auto pilots Sonic so you don't even need to turn left and right, top that off with the pointless fanfic/avatar story, such a step back it makes Sonic Colors seem more polished
as for Mania I loved it at first but bit like Forces it's gotten a bit old reusing classic zones, the best part of Mania was the new zones/speical stages, feel the next Mania title should go all out on, atm when I play a old zone in it, it just makes me want to play the full genesis game it's ripped from.
@RupeeClock Sonic Forces is basically Sonic Generations but done badly and Avatar stages/stuff even most of the zones were basically Classic Sonic ones, Green Hill, Death Egg, chemical plant, Casino night now a forest the mobile version Speed Battle even just ripped sky sanctuary and city escape from Generations rather remaking a different zone that wasn't in Generations or coming up with a new one
They should really take in some of the 3D Fan game developers like they did with Mania, to make either a 3D Modern or Classic Sonic game, as long they stay in their own dimensions it shouldn't be a problem, Sonic Utopia is one of the best Sonic games I ever played, even if it's just one stage atm.
@RodSD64 Sims 4 might of been best on the Switch, it's not a very powerful game like Sims 3, and having a touch screen would make it more like the PC versions, the PS4 version with a controller isn't as good
@OorWullie They aren't even the arcade versions but rather the famicom/nes ones, some had more content then the arcade versions Dig Dug 2 comes to mind but often they played and looked worse, atm the Wii still has the best Namco arcade games, mainly in japan with some their early 3D games like Star Blade, Cyber Sled and rare games like Cosmo gang or Burning Force
@Zenszulu Yeah when the Atgames Game Gear/Master system handhelds were better you know you messed up somewhere
one of the few systems they got the emulation right
@Blooper987 Sonic 06/Unleashed were both basically SA3 Heroes is the 3rd part of the adventure storyline I don't see how making a game and slapping the name SA3 on it will make it good, it didn't work with Sonic 4, and how they can't even make a simple boost game without messing it up Forces I don't see it working for another adventure game
@PBandSmelly @Toy_Link Ya know just because Illumination's own creations can be annoying, doesn't mean they are going to change Mario and turn Toads into minions clones, Nintendo already has the world and characters set, all they going to do is just make talk, Wario Ware Gold shown this can be good, and most people like mario and rabbids cutscenes Illumination has help make the rabbids, while they were just as annoying in the crossover, the Mario characters weren't so I don't see the big issue, it's not another live action film that almost little to do with mario
@brunojenso Think it's to do with the gaming crash of 1983 and the fact Super Mario Bros took the world by storm While I prefer Mario Bros, it's basically a knock off of Joust That said it's had alot more remakes then SMB1, Mario Bros 3 had a mode based on it, Mario Clash is basically a remake of it without Luigi sadly, all the main Mario games on GBA included a 4 player remake
@the_beaver People could say the Switch is under powered but when you look at the Wii era, and how it got some of big PS3/360 games ported it despite the efforts not that great all the time
@jcvandan Cus None of the games in the series do that, it's always been one town, if you had other people playing the same system your meant to help make it grow team/family effort
@retro_player_77 Yeah Knuckles chaotix was also meant to be in Sonic Gems not sure why they didn't include that *guess again they didn't want to emulate, since Sonic CD/R were PC ver ports with Sonic Fighters being one of M2's early Model 2 ports, they done a few others during the PS2 era mainly kept in Japan, they even did Sega Rally 1
M2 has managed to change alot of old SEGA games that had control issues over the years, just hope SEGA lets them do this game rather then another forgettable one like Puzzle & Action: Tant-R
@siavm We already had sonic adventure 3... 3 times Heroes since that continued the story/kept the 4 different story Sonic 06 again continued the story, had Team Dark still, and alot more SA1 gameplay features, made the real-world setting graphics even closer then SA1 and 2 and lastly Sonic World Adventure/Unleashed which had alot of RPG stuff, Hub worlds, a real world adventure setting but with more cartoon designs
Tho getting SEGA to remake SA1/2 and make "true" SA3 won't fix much seeing how they couldn't even make another Generations style game with Forces without messing up the basics
@FX102A Would help if SEGA didn't keep the west waiting on SEGA AGES I mean I would buy G-loc now but it's only on the japan eshop with english translations and wait another 10 days just to move it cus why should I have to import a game for more money when there's nothing stopping them releasing it now
@retro_player_77 Unless M2 is able to change the controls for the game which is why alot of times SEGA never bothered to re-release it Gems could of had it, but it would of been emulated like the Mame versions rather then rebuild like M2 has done with other SEGA arcade games, I mean look at Virtua Racing, they added a whole new control style alongside with the optional original control setting
@Nic-Noc20th-C Well it did get exported to the UK Sega World to my understanding but the game itself was never translated to english, basically you didn't understand what Eggman, Sonic and Co were saying tho you could still play think that's why they brought it over from Japan anyway, there was a western version in the works, and the rom has english text messages, a SatAm style Robotnik sprite to replace Eggman, if M2 make this they should really look into finishing the US version much like how they restored honey to Sonic The Fighters on the 360/PS3 another M2 game I would love to see on the Switch
Almost forgot about the SEGA AGES stuff, I wish they would hurry with bringing the ones Japan already has over here, I don't see why we should have to wait/import it off the Japan eshop when it's already been translated, heck most of these games are just ports from the 3DS 3D Classics rather then full new games, or at least aim big with the next releases I mean while these are nice I much rather any of the Model 2 arcade games to be ported over like the ones Xbox 360/One has from their past efforts
