Re: Feature: "Samus' Adventure Will Continue" - Metroid Dread Producer On The Series' 2D Revival And Future

@Splodge the direction thing with Fusion was part of the story though, with Samus herself questioning the motives behind those giving her these orders. Not to mention the 2nd half of the game where you are asked to go to one sector but end up somewhere else completely and getting alot more upgrades and 'Adam' scolding Samus for going too far.
Else yeah bit less hand-holdning would be nice. I found ZM had a good balance of free exploration while also giving hints on where you should go next.

sure, Fusion was more linear than Super Metroid. However I found Fusion alot less linear than Samus Returns since you went back and forth between the six sectors plus the main area while in Samus Returns once you were done with one area you never really went back unless for the near-end optional item collecting (thus no storyline reason to ever go back). One of the things I didn't like about Samus Returns.

Atleast Game Freak shuts down the critics who complain that they dont dare to challenge the gameplay in future titles.
The gameplay did look kinda choppy yes, but I kinda feel this was some very early build that normally wouldn't have been shown but they kinda had to due to Pokemon 25th anniversary. Some of the field pokemon animations was easy to see being placeholders and not something they remade for this game.
They did say early 2022, but wouldn't suprise me if they delayed this until summer 2022 or maybe early fall if they don't feel ready for a spring 2022 release (if that is what they mean by "early")
I hope this game will deliver, so we can have this be the new faithful spinoff series of Pokemon, alongside the main generations and the generations remakes.
What could be future Legends games? Genesect for gen 5? Deoxys for gen 3? Zygarde for gen 6? (finally he gets some deserved lore love). Heck i'd love for the lightning doggy Raikou to be selected for Gen 2 since both Entei and Suicune hugged the spotlight in the past.

@Dezzy FF6 has already received a remake on smartphones (which wasnt very loved to say the least).
I'd LOVE a remake of FF6 (and other 2D FF games) with a style like that, but doubt SE will do another remake when they have other less known classics like SaGa Frontier that has never been touched since its original release. And seeing how "mixed" the FF6 remake was, I think that is one of the reasons why that version of FF6 (and FF5 too) was not ported to the switch.
I loved the FF4 2D remake on the PSP and hope they would port a HD enhanced version of it on the switch and maybe FFT WotL aswell.

"Broadly speaking, no reason not to play the NES versions".
Totally disagree. SMAS is the reason to not play the NES versions unless you really want to try the games in their original format and looks.
I still believe after all these years and despite us being in 2020 that SMAS is one of, if not the, best compilation game of all time.
I love the 16-bit graphics and love both the sound and especially the music.
I actually wish they added the 16-bit versions of SMB1 and SMB3 onto Super Mario Maker 2 in some way.

@8bitSquid Yeah I cleared cache and it made a few ones get registered. However still some missing. I wonder if there is a bug with Pokemon that has multiple "forms" like Unown, Basculin and Deerling. I have atleast one of each yet they all remain unregistered. Perhaps only certain versions of them gets registered, which is certainly not intended.
