Re: Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Release Date And Pricing Revealed

CdrJameson

I've been paying for NSO since it launched. I appreciate the cloud saves but rarely play games online and rarely play the NES and SNES games and for £17.99 I'm ok with that. I do enjoy the SNES games when I play them.

£34.99 for 9 N64 and 14 Mega Drive games and the AC DLC is a bit much. I'm done with AC now for a start. They say more N64 games will be added later but they don't say when. If it was around £24.99 I'd pay it and be happy. £34.99 every year is a bit much with no firm schedule for new games and no promises of further consoles. I'd love to see GBA games added for a start.

Re: Review: PGA Tour 2K21 - A Good Starting Point For Golf Fans On Switch

CdrJameson

I was a big fan of the MegaDrive PGA Tour games but haven't played the series since then. From my point of view this game is a massive step up from the older games. The cons don't bother me in the slightest. I can finally play a very good golf game in Switch!

Although I'm getting on with the control system better than I thought I would I still miss the 3 button method. I think that's just nostalgia talking though.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 2nd)

I'm playing so many games at the moment. I still play Animal Crossing daily. I've started Stardew Valley and BoTW again. I'm still playing through Dragon Quest 3. And now I've started playing Streets of Rage 4 and will probably be playing Overcooked 2 with my wife at some point.

I'm still playing a lot of Animal Crossing although I feel like I'm running out of things to do and the fruit situation is annoying.

I've also gone back to some older games. I'm really enjoying Steamworld Quest at the moment for example and I've put in a few more hours into Darkest Dungeon.

I'm half way through my current Pokemon Sword run and I have 5 days so I might just finish the main game this weekend. I'll be putting lots of time into Animal Crossing too of course.

It was weird seeing SEGA Mega Drive Classics listed. I recently dug it out again, partly because my wife recently bought a Switch Lite but also because I decided to play some of the games again. Along with Doom, MD Classics will give me my nostalgia fix this weekend.

It's a bit of a mixed bag this weekend. I bought a 400GB microSD card last week and going back through my physical games to update them made me want to play them.

So along with Mortal Kombat 11, Smash and Yoshi I'll be playing Lego Marvel and Hyrule Warriors. Oh, and Final Fantasy VII now it's been patched.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 4th)

I pre-ordered Mortal Kombat 11 so I won't be playing that until next weekend. In the mean time I'm playing Street Fighter II Ultra like made. I love that game. I'll probably get some more Smash Bros in too.

I was surprised to see Capcom Beat 'em Up Bundle listed. I've been playing that on and off for a couple of months now and will again this weekend as I'm very into beat 'em ups at the moment. Why is it listed though? Have I missed something?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 6th)

CdrJameson

This weekend I'll be trying to love Super Smash Bros Ultimate some more, playing more Yoshi's Crafted World and continuing with Final Fantasy VII.

Iconoclasts was on sale this week so I picked that up and am really enjoying it so this'll get a few hours this weekend too.

I don't think I'll be doing much except playing games this weekend.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 19th)

My cold has more or less gone so I'll be getting into Super Mario at last. I'm still trying to get into Super Smash Bros so will probably spend an hour or two playing that. Diablo 3 will get a few hours too.

There has been some new DLC for Train Sim World on PS4 though so that will get quite a few hours today as I have the TV to myself until around 6pm.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 12th)

CdrJameson

I have the worst cold I've had in years and don't feel much like playing games this weekend. My ability to concentrate and my reflexes are non-existent. Having said that, something turn based like Octopath or Mario+Rabbids might work.

I hope I feel well enough to play some of the new Mario too but when I tried last night I was awful at it because I just couldn't focus on it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Christmas? (Special Edition)

CdrJameson

I've booked holiday and we don't have much planned so I'll be able to get plenty of game time for once.

It's guaranteed that I'll be playing Diablo a lot but I bought Civ 6 the other day so I'll be putting some time into that too.

I plan on giving Smash another go to see if I can get into it this time and then there's Train Sim World on PS4 which is bound to get a good few hours over the next week.

@SimplyCinnamon53 Thanks for the advice. This is pretty much how I approach all fighting games so I'm on the right track it seems. I'm really finding not falling off really hard though. For some reason all the CPU opponents fly right back up when I knock them off but I can't seem to do that.

It seemed like it should be quite simple to play from hearing how others have described the controls but it's a lot deeper than I thought it would be. It's a hell of a lot faster and harder than I thought it would be too!

Re: Octopath Traveler Crowned Nintendo Game Of The Year At Golden Joystick Awards

CdrJameson

I've seen several videos on YouTube recently about how the industry is focussing on online multiplayer games over offline single player games. What bothers me about Fortnite getting GOTY is it sends a message that the industry is right to focus on online games. Unfortunately most entertainment industries get tunnel vision and concentrate only on what they think will make them the most money but we want a good mix of games.

Re: Bethesda Confirms It Won't Be Bringing Fallout 76 To The Nintendo Switch

CdrJameson

@Medic_alert I can pretty much only use the TV for games on Saturday afternoons so have pretty much only been able to make any progress in a lot of games while my wife is watching Eastenders or Strictly Come Dancing.

I can certainly see a more powerful Switch 2 somewhere in the future that will get some games from the last few years that won't run on the current Switch. I've consigned myself to playing some classic games years after the original was released on some version of the Switch just because it's the perfect style of console for me. I hadn't played Dark Souls at all until the Switch version and haven't played Diablo 3 much in the last year or so so the Switch version will mean far more Diablo in my life in the future.

Re: Bethesda Confirms It Won't Be Bringing Fallout 76 To The Nintendo Switch

CdrJameson

I've pretty much ditched my PS4 for the Switch. Unlike the PS4 I can play my Switch docked when I have the TV to myself and then go handheld when the TV's needed by someone else. I usually end up playing handheld and the PS4 is more or less a Blu-ray/streaming media player now.

The reason for that waffle is if a game doesn't come out on Switch I just ignore it. There are so many great games I need to play on Switch and so many more coming that I'm good for probably a year or more. If the Switch isn't powerful enough to run Fallout 76 then fair enough. I don't want to play a poor port. As I said, there are plenty of great games on Switch anyway so I don't need to buy Fallout 76 at all even if it's hailed as the greatest game ever.

I'm probably very much an outlier and there probably aren't enough people like me to make a difference to Bethesda's bottom line. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has moved to Switch full time too though. I hope this doesn't come across as a down with Bethesda rant as it's not meant to be.
