The plot of the original Bright Memory made absolutely no sense. It was like watching a bad anime with some episodes missing and episodes from a different series mixed in. Overly earnest dialogue, skimpy outfits but also some genuinely cool ideas, but not even remotely connected to one another.
That said, the gameplay was a lot of fun. Once you maxed your abilities you had some interesting moves at your disposal. Oh, and the fire rate on that automatic shotgun is insane for all the right reasons.
This should be fun for those who want fun gameplay and don't mind if the plot is nonsensical.
I'm taking a break from Titan Quest. After blitzing Acts 2 and 3 last week, I realised that my build is too weak. I can't do or take enough damage to even handle side quests in Act 4. So I'll take a break then come back with a better build. To that end, I might play a bit of Slipstream this weekend. Or stick with ARPGs and play Warhammer: Chaosbane.
@BloodNinja Same. I was always frustrated by the lack of some models, but the rules were great once you learned them. So many weapons and wargear. The models are much better these days, but I miss the old rules.
@Severus_Snape that makes me miss the days of 2nd edition, when Space Marines could actually equip shotguns. Or laspistols if you liked wasting points.
@Zuljaras I'm certainly enjoying it. My only real criticism is that sometimes the game won't target an enemy, so I can't attack anything. It's not frequent enough to be a problem, though.
I'm still slowly playing through Titan Quest. I reached Memphis last night, and I hope to finish Act 2 this weekend. I'm still playing a bit of Crossfire X. Probably the only FPS I've ever played where I consistently do well, even if our team lose. Finally, I plan to play a bit of NFS Heat.
This is available on Evercade as part of the Piko Collection 1. It's much cheaper, has a number of other good games packed with it and is still physical. A new release seems unnecessary, tbh.
I've finished Pixzel Lines DX and I decided to create a folder/group on my Switch for completed games so I can see that increase as my backlog (hopefully) decreases. Titan Quest is next, which will probably take a while.
I finished Gear.Club Unlimited 2 this week. The endurance races, with their tyre and fuel strategies, were a real change of pace. Pun intended. I have nothing left to do on single player, but may return to multilayer from time to time. Next up, I'm trying to clear Pixzel Lines DX from my backlog. Only 3 more categories if ouzzle to go. When I dance a little more actio, I'll play Titan Quest or Crysis.
I'm still playing Gear.Club Unlimited 2. I completed the main game and the Porsche DLC, so just have the Edndurance DLC to go. That really changes the game, though, making it much more realistic as you have to consider pit strategies, fuel load, etc. When not doing that, I will probably be playing Elden Ring on the Xbox, or Dynamite Dux on the Commodore 64 for a bit of a retro fix.
I thought I'd try Bit Orchard: Animal Valley. I fancied a simpler gaming experience, and this hits the spot
I still need to mop up a few races after winning the championship in Gear.Club Unlimited 2. Then it will be off to the DLC packs for some more racing. And maybe trying to push my club higher up the leagues in multiplayer...
I'm still playing through Gear.Club Unlimited 2, but bought Tormented Souls last night, so might have to delve into that for a bit. Still playing around on the A500 mini, too. So much nostalgia! Oh, and I've also been playing a lot of Classic mode on Crossfire X. For some reason I am far better at this than any FPS I've played before.
My A500 mini arrived yesterday, so I'm mainly playing Simon the Sorceror. Also playing Chip's Challenge on the Evercade and Gear.Club Unlimited 2 on the Switch.
Elden Ring and Kirby. I normally don't like to play more than one "big" game at a time in case I confuse them, but I don't think that's going to be an issue with these two.
I tried the Lite version of Cocobo GP. Story mode had managed to put me off as soon as Moogle Racer X, or whatever his name is, started talking. I don't think I'm in the mood for that kind of cheesy dialogue these days. I still might try online, but if you need to complete the story to unlock things in the full version, I'll be steering clear.
I'm playing Elden Ring on the Series X, Sword of Hope 2 on the 3DS virtual console and Dragon Spirit on the Switch when I need something a bit less RPG to play.
I plan to finish the second campaign in Crossfire X this weekend. Other than that, I'm hoping to make a start on Pokken Tournament - since I'm so up to date.
@120frames-please it's pretty good. Rather than individual stages, there are more blocks added to the top of the screen as you go, so you get a consistent level of intensity. You can play classic mode with 3 lives and no power ups, or a new mode with 1 life and a lot of power ups. It plays well, and I don't think it suffers from a lack of paddle. The Joycons are accurate enough for the game, but fine-tuning exactly where to hit the ball can be tricky. The graphics are standard for the Recharged series, and the music is good.
I'm hoping to play through one of the campaigns for Crossfire X on the Series X. Also playing Sword of Hope 2 on the Game Boy and the new Breakout on the Switch.
@MattAllsopp the graphics are actually rather good. I actually got a bit of a Skyrim vibe for the most part. There are some genuinely nice vistas at times, too. The lighting effects are OK, too. So from a graphics perspective, it's worth a look. I'd check the video or screenshot on the store to be sure, though.
I played The Dead Tree of Ranchiuna yesterday. It's a walking simulator with decent graphics, but the environments are too samey. The story is the worst thing about the game, though. The characters are all horrible and their actions make no sense.
I finished Chasm yesterday. It's a great Metroidvania game with a lot of charm.
Today I've been building the Sonic The Hedgehog Lego set and playing the Pandemic board game with friends. Later, I plan to play Huntdown and maybe Onimusha.
I picked up Corpse Party during the week. Thankfully I didn't make the mistake of reading the review that NL linked to in their New Releases article, since that was for the much weaker third game.
Also playing some Vostok Inc and, when I have time, some Alone In The Dark on the Dreamcast.
Shame this is nowhere as good as the original. The 3d objects in the maze obscure food and enemies, the graphics are horrible and the guards can move through food. The graphics are weird, though. There were already Dizzy sprites loaded into Fuze. Why not use those?
I loved Fast Food on the Spectrum, and I already have Fuze, so this is good for me, but it sucks that it can't be accessed as a standalone game so more people can enjoy it.
Harsh review. This is perfectly entertaining for its brief run time, and controls competently enough. It won't rock anyone's world, but it certainly isn't "bad".
I don't have much game time this weekend, so will be dipping in to Brave Battle Saga on the Evercade and Mario 64 on 3D All Stars when I have the chance.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 11th)
I just have 2 more achievements to mop up in Slipstream, so will mostly be playing that.
I'll probably return to Titan Quest after that. I hate the idea of a game beating me.
Re: Somehow, 'Prison Life Simulator 2022: World FIGHT Battle GTA ULTIMATE' Is An Actual Game On Switch
I'll hold out for a physical copy.
But why are games starting to adopt the same naming standards as items on Amazon?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 21st)
More Titan Quest for me.
I did take a break from it to complete Dungeons of Dreadrock, but back to it now.
When I need a change of pace I shall switch to Crossfire X or classic Amiga puzzler Dragon Tiles.
Re: Nintendo Download: 19th May (Europe)
I picked up Bad Writer, since it's cheap. I might also try to get Snow Bros. at some point.
Re: Classic Amiga Point-And-Click 'Simon The Sorcerer' Is Getting A Prequel On Switch
@Patendo Super Frog got a re-release on the Vita, complete with new levels. I'd love a Switch port of that.
Will definitely be looking to pick up this game when it releases, though.

Re: Backlog Club: Week Zero - Hello (Again), And Welcome (Again) To Backlog Club
Could the preliminary discussion be in April rather than before the club started?
More seriously, though, this seems like a good idea.

Picked up Chasm in the sale, so spending time on that.
Also supposed to have Battleaxe arrive today.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 18th)
I have just finished The Gunk on XSX. Fun game that doesn't outstay its welcome.
I have now moved on to Switchblade on the Evercade.
Other than that I might try I am Setsuna to get me into a wintry mood.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 11th)
Liquid Kids on Switch and Dark Chambers on Evercade for me.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 4th)
I played a bit of Christmas Nights on the Saturn to get into the December mindset.
Then I spent some time with Generation Zero on Xbox Series X. It's on Game Pass, and definitely worth a look.
For Switch, I'm mainly trying to finish the extra puzzles on Picxel Line DX.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 13th)
On Switch, I'm playing through Cat Quest. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy this, from the combat system right down to the awful puns.
Also playing Forza Horizon 5.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 30th)
More Corpse Party for Me. And Vostok Inc. Although the latter is becoming a bit grindy.
Plus some Grid on the XSX.
Re: Nintendo Download: 28th October (Europe)
I picked up Black Widow since it's one of my favourite classic Atari games. I also got Sky Kid, and am interested in Panorama Cotton.

Re: Poll: Which Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Games Should You Play First Via Nintendo Switch Online?
I have never played Musha before, so that will be my first game.
I'm personally more interested in the N64 games, though.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 2nd)
Cotton 2 on the Switch.
I'm also trying to mop up a few achievements in Forza Horizon 4 before the next game releases.
Re: Microids Signs "Historic" Agreement With Taito To Produce Two New Games
Cameltry. You know it makes sense.
Re: Nintendo Download: 19th August (Europe)
I'm just dissappointed that the Arcade Archives release, Vandyke, has nothing to do with Dick. Or even Barry.
Re: Jaleco's Rod Land Is Your Next Arcade Archives Release On Switch
Absolutely getting this. I always wanted it back in the day but could never find a copy for the Amiga. Now I can get the arcade version.
Re: The "Brand-New" Dizzy Game Is A Remake, And It's Included Free With FUZE4 Nintendo Switch
@Clyde_Radcliffe not that I've seen. There's a projects page with games and demos, but I haven't seen a way of sorting it

Re: Evercade's Next Two Cartridges Come Loaded With NES And SNES Titles
Brutal Sports Football is a great game. Combined with Top Racer 2 and Soccer Kid, the Piko collection is a must-buy for me.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 5th)
I'm playing Super Mario World as part of my attempt to tackle my backlog. I did beat it back in the 90s, but wanted to go through again.
