Re: Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania Will Have Hello Kitty Paid DLC

Bubsy

If it was a multiple character pack with Kitty, My Melody, Badtz Maru and one or two other Sanrio characters it'd be worth the price - still gonna pick it up at some point though, who doesn't have a "I put too many funds on the eShop so may as well spend it on overpriced junk I would've got earlier if it was cheaper" moment every now and then?

Re: Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Release Date And File Size Seemingly Revealed

@Toy_Link Dunno about Jimmy, but apparently Nick have been running into issues licensing out characters from Frederator's shows (which also includes other fan favourites like Teenage Robot, ChalkZone, and Fanboy & Chum Chum)

@Ragdoll72 @MagicEmperor I don't get why you'd pass up a game like this for any reason that isn't directly tied to gameplay. While grunts and a few win quotes would be better than no voices, no voices is better than going extreme and having the characters speak the same long sentences all the time - just play Attack of the Toybots and you'll see what I mean. "I better get out of this factory soon - I think I left the oven on!" was funny the first few times, but after a while it becomes grating. Now imagine that with 3 Rockos on-screen and a SpongeBob shouting "It's karate time - or should I say Kah-Rah-Tae?"

Re: Suda51 Bids Farewell To Travis Touchdown As No More Heroes 3 Launches On Switch

It makes me really happy to see how respectful Travis fans are of Suda's decision to end No More Heroes. Just goes to show that a little bit of dev-to-player transparency can go a long way.

If Nintendo could just openly say "we're not making any more F-Zero games" or "we're not making any more Kid Icarus games" instead of a cheeky "it's just sleeping" or "maybe in another 24 years!" a lot of people will be satisfied with that. Once Itoi said Mother 4 was impossible requests quickly died down, more game series should take the same approach rather than exploiting the hype culture to keep fans buying.

Re: Talking Point: As The Fan-Made 2D Metroid Prime Game Is Shut Down, Where Do You Stand On Nintendo's Takedowns?

@nessisonett As someone who draws a lot of very unsavoury fanart, I can tell you for a fact people who have a problem with lewd or fetish fan art are just looking for someone socially acceptable to hate on. They don't care about "protecting the children" or "respecting the characters' creators" they just want a punching bag they won't be called out for creating long-term damage to.

Re: Sonic Mania Is Now 4 Years Old

Bubsy

I consider Mania not "the first good Sonic game since 3K" but rather "the first Sonic game since 3K"

"A Sonic game", to me, is not the same as "a game about Sonic", whether it's the bad 3D games like 06 and Adventure, or the good 3D games like Colours or Lost World, none of them have the right physics for me to truly consider them Sonic games, just games about Sonic.

Re: The Ten Best Wholesome Games On Switch

Bubsy

I wouldn't call a game where a goose unties a boy's shoelaces, steals his glasses, and honks at him until he traps himself in a phone box "wholesome" per say, but it certainly also wouldn't be the most demented thing I've seen internet users call wholesome in earnest.

Re: Feature: Fire Emblem And 8 Other Nintendo Franchises That Need A TV Series

Bubsy

@Daniel36 **** no. The last thing any industry needs is more crossovers to shill a product. I'd rather a self-contained Mario/Zelda/FlingSmash/whatever show than a horrific amalgimation of different worlds and tones that counteracts the very nature of cinema. It works for a plotless crossover game, it works for quirky fanfiction, it could even work for a plot-free show like a parodic sitcom - it does not work when telling a story. Look at how Subspace Emissary turned out, with characters acting either nothing like they do in their games (Wario), acting so accurate to their games they felt out of place due to how much more development they got (Lucas), or being portrayed in a way with nothing to do with their source material (ROB), all the while traversing the most bland locations ever put to code.
