Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Direct For March 2025?

BranJ0

Pretty poor. Prime 4 was by far the best thing about it, and the trailer was weirdly low energy, it actually made me less excited for the game (still buying day one, just thought it was a weird showcase). I have zero interest in Pokémon Legends or Tomodachi Life (which announcing more than a year in advance is crazy). Combined with a couple of press announcements of digital games and an app. I hope this is just them getting lots of third party contracts out of the way before the big Switch 2 direct

Re: Knuckles Sets "Record-Breaking" Viewership Performance For Paramount+

BranJ0

@somnambulance yeah I think that's fair, it very much takes the approach of just adapting the video game story rather than a separate story in the same world, with the exception of the phenomenal episode 3. I also see how overexposure to the last of us is getting tiring at this point, would be nice to even have confirmation that a third game is coming!

Re: Nintendo Will Repair Out-Of-Warranty Joy-Con For Free In The UK, EEA, Switzerland

BranJ0

As others have said, I'm almost certain they did this already. Myself and two friends have sent in joycons suffering drift out of warranty and all have been repaired free of charge. However, I don't think it was an "official" policy thing - when I asked someone at Nintendo about this, they completely denied it and said you have to pay for joycon drift repair

Re: Review: SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake - The Best SpongeBob Platformer Yet

BranJ0

@SwitchVogel That's all very fair as well! I do think you guys tend to be more generous than most, but as I said, I don't think that's a bad thing. It's very difficult to compare most review outlets with each other - they all use their rating system slightly differently, and as long as you know what you're in for with each outlet that's fine. Great review as well, and I am actually quite tempted by this, I've been craving a decent platformer for a while!

Re: Review: SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake - The Best SpongeBob Platformer Yet

BranJ0

@MattT3142 IGN gave it a 5, so it seems like NintendoLife is the outlier.

I love this website, but they are always rather generous with their scoring - compare most indie games or any other game released on both playstation and switch, and NintendoLife almost always give one number higher than PushSquare. Not that that's a problem at all - they both take their scoring system to mean different things, but it's always worth bearing in mind when looking at the score for a NintendoLife review!

Re: Feature: The 10 Best Ace Attorney Cases, Ranked

BranJ0

@depwnz I think probably because it's a MASSIVE spoiler! Maybe edit your comment slightly so people who are interested in playing the series by this list don't have one of the best twists in the franchise ruined for them!

Re: Feature: The 10 Best Ace Attorney Cases, Ranked

BranJ0

Very weird list, but I love having ace attorney content anywhere and it's very interesting! Turnabout Serenade should be nowhere near this list imo, one of my least favourite ace attorney cases, and Turnabout Succession shouldn't be either, it's a very lacklustre finale. I'd personally chuck both Turnabout Revolution and The Rite of Turnabout on there, but I'm a lot more partial to SoJ. I'd also definitely put the Return of the Great Departed Soul from GAA2, which is my favourite case in my favourite ace attorney game! So yes, very different opinions from me, but I'm glad you enjoy Apollo Justice so much, balances out my disdain for it!

Re: Round Up: Every Game And Trailer From The Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase June 2022

BranJ0

A surprisingly great direct, although a shame about lots of leaks beforehand spoiling some of the bigger surprises such as Persona and Nier. I played persona 5 and Nier in 2017 when they came out (Nier especially is a masterpiece - my favourite game of all time) so I'm not going to double dip, but I'm glad other people get the chance to experience these games! I'm very interested in persona 4 though, and will definitely pick that up!

Overall though, I still am desperate for an update on Nintendo's 1st party titles, which hopefully we'll get soon!

Re: Backlog Club: Week Zero, June - Return Of Backlog Club, Return Of The Obra Dinn

BranJ0

This is a phenomenal game, everyone should give it a go. The process of figuring things out really feels like you solved it yourself, as opposed to following a predetermined path set by the game. I also really enjoyed playing this with my partner, as you can discuss all of the clues and everything you know together, so I'd recommend it played in that way if you're interested!

Re: Acclaimed Top-Down Metroidvania 'Unsighted' Is Getting A Physical Release

BranJ0

@BenAV Yeah I completely agree, it's a difficult one! I think if someone said they were put off my the time limits, I would try and reassure them that it's not as debilitating as it sounds, and that it's definitely worth giving a go because you can turn it off whenever. But yeah, if someone would absolutely not play this with timers, then you're right, it's much better they play it with no timers than don't play it at all!

Re: Acclaimed Top-Down Metroidvania 'Unsighted' Is Getting A Physical Release

BranJ0

@Spoony_Tech @BenAV Just jumping on here to say that yes, you can turn it off, but imo it defeats a lot of the purpose of the game. I think it's a fairly solid game without the time limits - it's enjoyable, with some cool dungeons and puzzles, interesting abilities, and some great bosses, but nothing particularly noteworthy. However, with the time limit the game is wonderful. Every decision you do matters, every character you consider giving meteor dust to extend their time limit, every character who dies, it's just full of excellent decisions and a constant underlying tension. It's that tension that makes the game so memorable to me

Re: AM2R Creator Isn't A Fan Of Metroid Dread's E.M.M.I. Encounters

BranJ0

I think he's got this spot on here. The EMMI are a cool concept, but about halfway into the campaign they stop being scary and start being annoying. You've killed enough EMMI at that point, so they're just given frustrating abilities that make them a chore to deal with. Wonderful game overall, but I don't think anything would be lost with fewer EMMI encounters.

Re: Retailer Currys Reveals Pokémon Legends: Arceus Has Become Its Most Pre-Ordered Game Ever

BranJ0

@Faruko Oh 100%, graphics definitely don't make a game. But they do contribute to it, especially when you're exploring a huge beautiful world and you know it could look so much better. It's just the fact that pokemon is the largest media franchise in the world, and yet their games look significantly worse than what the system can offer, which can only really be explained by a lack of effort at that point

Re: Retailer Currys Reveals Pokémon Legends: Arceus Has Become Its Most Pre-Ordered Game Ever

BranJ0

@Troll_Decimator A game can still be bad and popular. No one has said this game won't sell well - everyone knew it would, because it's a pokemon game. They were saying that the game clearly could have had a lot more effort put into it, as shown by the barebones graphics and design of the world, and the poor framerate in places. But just because a game has had a high level of pre-orders, it doesn't mean it's a flawless game. By that metric, call of duty pumps out masterpieces every year

Re: Video: Ten 3DS Exclusives That Could Be Better On Nintendo Switch

BranJ0

@Rygar Awakening is great in some aspects, but terrible in others, but it's definitely worth giving it a go if you get the chance. Fates is just horrible though, the only thing that saves it is the gameplay in Conquest, but the map design in the other two games, characters, story, worldbuilding, etc. is really poor, I'd skip it entirely if I were you!

Re: The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles Has Been Rated For Nintendo Switch

BranJ0

I don't want to get my hopes up but both the great ace attorneys in one collection would be absolutely amazing and I would leap on it in a heartbeat! Still holding out for an AA7 one day, I thought 6 was magnificent and I can't wait to see where they go from there, but I'll take any ace attorney I can get!

Also would recommend tales from the borderlands for anyone who hasn't played it - I'd never even played a borderlands game but got it on a whim a few years ago, and it's amazing. The game is just so stylish, the characters are wonderful, and it's one of the few telltale games that I actually felt like my choices made a difference. Strongly recommend!

Re: Soapbox: Retro Nintendo Games Cost Too Much, But Nostalgia Is Expensive

BranJ0

Nintendo has just locked all of its retro content behind a gate. It would be so easy for them to put their classic content on an emulator on the switch and let us play it - I'm sure a lot of us would pay a fairly decent amount for that! However, they've been greedy with the Switch, and instead of just putting it all on virtual console like on the Wii or Wii U, they've chosen to just put out NES and SNES games at a snails pace, and then release just 3 old mario games on an emulator for the price of a full game nowadays. It's ludicrous, bad business practice, and locks retro games away for newer generations to play.

Re: Dead Cells Unveils Second Major DLC Expansion ‘Fatal Falls’

BranJ0

I got this game nearly two years ago, and keep on coming back to it every now and then. I've beaten the game once and am on 1 Boss Cell, and it's already immensely difficult. The game has more than enough content and they still continue to add lots of free DLC and very expansive packs for a cheap price. I can't praise this game enough, and would strongly recommend it to anyone!
