Publisher CFK has showcased a brand new trailer for the upcoming remaster of Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony. Originally launched in 2009 for Windows platforms, the game is heavily influenced by Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, but also injects plenty of 'Touhou' bullet-hell style gameplay for good measure.
Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony is due for launch worldwide on July 28th, 2022. Japan will be getting a fancy physical edition, but since the Japanese release will feature English language support, it may well be worth an import if you're a fan of the original release.

Here's some info on the release from CFK:
Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony has been loved by many gamers since its initial release, highly praised for its quality gameplay and soundtrack as well as Banpai Akira’s sharp and gothic reinterpretation of Touhou characters.
The Switch and Steam versions contain a number of enhanced features compared to the original, such as HD remastered graphics, newly added dialogues, and English language support. Fans of the original game and Touhou Project can’t also miss full Japanese voice over that will be added in the new versions.

Play-Asia will be selling both a standard and a collector's edition! I'm looking forward to ordering at least a standard edition.

Wouldn't say it's "The Castlevania You've Been Waiting For", they've lost me with the cute girls and bullet hell gameplay elements.
I wish plenty of fun to all those looking forward to this, but for myself, I'll just stick to old Castlevania games and Bloodstained
I'm usually not a massive fan of Castlevania and similar games but this I can get down with.
The Castlevania I am waiting for is not about cute girls that scream stuff I do not understand.
I need the "WHAT IS A MAN?!" kind of dialogue and less girly stuff ofc!
I love metroivanias but haven't played many good ones lately. This one looks intriguing - I'm gonna wait for reviews, but it has a lot of potential!
Parts of this are very close, or even over, the line between inspiration and rip-off, but as Konami aren't doing anything worthwhile with the Castlevania IP i'm all for this.
the Castlevania game I've been waiting for is the Julius Belmont game that takes place in 1999
and this isn't that
I've just been getting back into touhoh
Curse of the Moon was the castlevania I was waiting for and I wish they’d make a 3rd one
Is this a Metroidvania-style or is it linear like the first four games? If it's a Metroidvania I'm a bit concerned there's no mini-map in the corner as I get lost in these games so easily!
looks better than Touhou Luna Nights and Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth, both of which looked pretty but didn't feel like they amounted to much in the end.
I'm interested in seeing if this one is better
So this is the true power of TouHou
The title of this article is exactly how you get me.to look into ya game
Another copy and paste, like the Record of the Lodoss War game. They're fun, but they have no uniqueness.
Blspahemous is for now the best and most unique "Castlevania" I've played, apart from the main saga, sure.
@BranJ0 @BulkSlash It's worth pointing out that this game (and its sequel) aren't metroidvanias - rather, they follow the stage-by-stage gameplay structure of classic Castlevania.
The game looks really good and metroidvania are my one of my favs genre, I don't know touho story though so I hope there's introduction or something like that in the game.
@BrazillianCara Really? I though it's like lodoss war deedlit in wonder labyrinth. I'm still interested in this game though since I also like 2D games.
@wiiware Touhou is one of those things where knowing the setting and characters is nice/useful, but in no way necessary to enjoy the experience.
@themightyant You should check out timespinner i think that would give you a heart attack lol
@TechaNinja I own it.... but it's on my list of shame
@themightyant @TechaNinja It's gross that copyright infringement in some cases is so tight as to bury Uniracers but other times so loose as to let this plagiarism exist. As a gamer of good conscience, I will never knowingly support knock-offs, even if the real thing is not available on a console. I know it's a sliding scale, but I would say the dividing line is between Fighter's History (knock-off) and Fatal Fury (derivative).
The Castlevania game I'm waiting for is another Castlevania game in line with the GBA/DS entries - i.e. largely repurposed assets, slightly tweaked combat (maybe an Order of Ecclesia sequel).
Nintendo sites have to call this Castlevania, which it isn't in the slightest.
Looks like a side-scrolling Touhou. If that horrendous voice acting can be turned completely off, it actually looks very pretty and could be a fun time!
EDIT: lmfao I just read more about it and it's based on Touhou. Neat!
I wonder if the lords of shadow series will be ported over to the switch..
Eh, it looks good, something I would like to play and all but why is it only girls? It really annoying when games have only girls...
This looks like it uses the Mogura engine which was made by Team Ladybug, the people behind Deedlit Wonder Labyrinth and Touhou Nights.
Looks pretty good! Also, judging by the comments, I don't think people realize this is a Touhou game lol.
The "gothic" artstyle from Castlevania is incredibly replicated, it's amazing
Looks like fun but I hate that bilinear filter they put on it
@EarthboundBenjy I was so hyped for Wonder Labyrinth, and in the end the game not appealed to me.
what was the inverse of Sundered, that i wasn't expecting nothing and LOVED the damn thing
Looks pretty rad, but Bloodstained ROTN was already the CV I was waiting for.
Play it not because it's metroidvania. Play it because it's touhou!
@Dingelhopper it's a nice introduction to non-touhou people
@BrazillianCara I hope the game will have encyclopedia for the characters (and enemies), I know some of the main characters but only their name.
The game looks great and all, and I'll likely get it when the time comes, but...I would really like it if developers move away from what essentially boils down to Symphony of the Night palette swaps with the visuals and animations.
Yeah I played the freeware(?) release ages ago, easily my favorite toohoo thing I've played- Might go for the physical.
@Uska I don't really have a problem with games or media with only females themselves (I don't see why people would have a problem with JUST that), but Touhou is pretty much the only series I can actually frequently enjoy with only girls, because unless it's fanmade (which by then it would depend on the game or content in general), it's actually the only series I know that actually has an interesting lore and have the characters behave much more than just being cutesy stereotypes. It also is the safest series from Japan filled with girls since there's practically no fanservice and sexualization (unless it is, again, fanmade). Plus, much of the music slaps hard (even a lot of fanmade ones).
@MareepYay i just want to oogle at men too since the art is so good. I've already planned to get this game, but I'm more interested after you talked about lore.
Bah, the Limited Edition is already sold out on Play-Asia. Not sure if I want to settle for the regular edition or wait and see if the LE pops up elsewhere.
Still waiting for remasters of Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness for Switch.
I've enjoyed Touhou Luna Nights and Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth, so I will be checking this one out (as they seem to be related in some capacity).
Afaik this is only one of two games in the series, here's to hoping the second one comes later!
@Zuljaras I don't mind attractive girls in my games. But yeah, funny old-school Castlevania dialogue was the best!
@MetalHawk Man, I would love to have those on the Switch.
