Re: Shovel Knight Confirmed for Surprise Role in Yooka-Laylee

BranJ0

@vanzan Sorry to intrude, but ziffy wasn't harassing at Sligeach_Eire. He said he was not trying to be mean, and that it was difficult to convey over text. Sligeach_Eire is definitely a fairly negative commenter, I don't think anyone, even he, would disagree with this (and it's perfectly understandable considering the nature of Nintendo at the moment), but ziffy was not saying anything rude to him in regards to this, just that it was remarkably similar to Peach64, who disappeared from this comment section at around the same time Sligeach_Eire appeared. Again, sorry if you think this is butting in, I'm just messaging this in case you weren't entirely clear on the entire situation

Re: Review: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice (3DS eShop)

BranJ0

@Yasume Yes, you really should! Even some of the most cynical ace attorney "fans" I.e. the people that only like the original trilogy, love investigations 2, claiming it's the best or second best ace attorney. The fan translation is of a seriously high calibre as well, easily the same standard as an official translation. It's brilliant!

Re: Review: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice (3DS eShop)

BranJ0

@Reverandjames I'd say it was very different. It tries a lot of new things, and whilst some of them definitely don't work, it's overall another very solid ace attorney game. I definitely wouldn't say it blows the original trilogy out of the water (I think it's better than justice for all but worse than the original game and trials and tribulations) but it's still great!

Re: Talking Point: What Approach Should Nintendo Take With Its NX Reveal?

BranJ0

To me, it has to be a big press reveal. Everyone needs to know that nintendo is announcing a new console, and they need to show it in all its glory to the world, along with EVERYTHING that it has to offer. This is a big deal. A nintendo direct is only going to be watched by nintendo fans, and as we can tell from the Wii U, just dedicated nintendo fans isn't enough, it needs to offer more. I'm not saying appeal to the casual market or anything, but nintendo fans can't be the only audience, and if they announce it by a direct, then they will be

Re: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice Begins Trial on 8th September

BranJ0

@Jolt Don't rush them! And definitely don't skip them to play this game! Just take your time with them and enjoy them. Also play the Miles Edgeworth investigations spin-offs (they were released after the fourth game but they can be played whenever to be honest) as they are also excellent. The second one didn't get localised here, but the fan translation is just as good a quality!

Re: Review: Pokémon GO (Mobile)

BranJ0

Based on a purely technical level, I would completely disagree with this score. There's not much to do, the servers keep crashing, etc. There are a multitude of problems. But it just doesn't matter, because it's just so much fun. And that's really what video games are about anyway.

Re: Poll: What Other 'Classic Edition' Nintendo Systems Do You Want to be Released?

BranJ0

The SNES by a mile. I personally find the NES to be a bit too dated, since I've grown up in the times of hand holding video games. I just couldn't get into classic NES games like the original Zelda and Metroid. However, I've started playing some SNES games recently, like Super Metroid, and they're really good! A mini SNES console with lots of preloaded games is therefore easily the most appealing of all of the choices here. I find that the N64 is too dated in terms of controls, all of the good games on there have been remastered o a higher quality, but you just can't do that with SNES games. I really want to try out more of them, so a console collection like this would be perfect for me

Re: Zero Time Dilemma Makes Modest Debut in Japanese Charts as Shovel Knight Digs Into Top 20

BranJ0

@KTT I suppose, but when you look at the sales of Ace Attorney Spirit of Justice in Japan, another visual novel game, which are very very good (a game I'm very excited for!) it makes the zero time dilemma sales pretty disappointing. I've never played any entry in the series, although it does look quie good to me, but it just seems a shame that Japan haven't caught onto this quite as well as the west.

Re: Random: Here's 9 Mighty Reasons Mighty No. 9 Is Only Just Better than Nothing

BranJ0

@A01 Have a look at this video, it's pretty short, and it perfectly illustrates why people are irritated with the game's graphics: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yPdptKliXvA

The concept video shown here took 7 days to make, with no kickstarter backing at all. The fact that they made a short and unrefined game with 4 million dollars (they spoke in dollars because the kick-started money was done in dollars btw) and 3 years worth of time, only for it to look FAR worse than the 7 day unpaid concept is just awful in my opinion.

Re: Zero Time Dilemma Makes Modest Debut in Japanese Charts as Shovel Knight Digs Into Top 20

BranJ0

The zero escape series has never done that well at all in Japan, surprisingly it's main fanbase and popularity is here in the West. I'm pretty sure the main reason that Zero Time Dilemma is coming out now when it was announced many years ago is that it's production was put on hiatus due to underwhelming commercial reception in Japan. So, in this case, it's likely that the western charts are more important for this game, so let's hope it does well here!

Re: Feature: An Insider's Look At The End Of An Era At Official Nintendo Magazine

BranJ0

Thank you so much for writing this, it's a brilliant article. ONM was where I used to get literally all of my Nintendo news from, since I read it from when I was 8 in late 2007 (the Mario and sonic at the olympic games cover was my first issue) and was quite young, never using the internet to look up any news. I bought every issue since until it closed down. Since then I discovered Nintendo Life, and whilst this place is amazing, nothing can ever beat having a physical magazine to read through. Thanks Kate, and the whole ONM team, for all of your work

Re: Feature: The Biggest Wii U and 3DS Games of 2016 - Summer Edition

BranJ0

@RainbowGazelle I suppose that, even though some people (like me!) don't have it yet, it has been released in America, so technically it's not an "upcoming game". They did the same with Pokemon Super mystery dungeon and bravely second on previous lists, both of which were released in one country a long time before another

Re: Fans Petition Nintendo To Name Zelda NPC After Deceased Singer Christina Grimmie

BranJ0

@Piersen Hmm, I guess I'm seeing it more as a request than a demand: like they're asking Nintendo to name a character after a big fan of the series. I just see it as a nice thing to do. I do understand where you're coming from, but I guess I'm just being slightly more optimistic that instead of forcing Nintendo to name a character after her, or so they can boast about having a celebrity name involved in Nintendo, that they are just asking Nintendo to pay respects to her in their own way

Re: Fans Petition Nintendo To Name Zelda NPC After Deceased Singer Christina Grimmie

BranJ0

@JaxonH I didn't actually see it that way at all tbh. To me, it just looks like a really nice gesture to a fan that was horrifically shot dead far too young. What you're saying is possibly why some people signed it, but I just like to see this petition as something we can do in her name. It's possible that I'm being a bit naive, but there are almost undoubtedly thousands of people who signed this simply in respect of Christina

Re: Reminder: Join Pure Xbox to Keep Up to Speed With the Microsoft E3 Live Conference

BranJ0

@Gerbwmu Nope, Sony at least has confirmed that there will be no Neo exclusives, and it is actually more likely that developers will focus on the original as opposed to the Neo, considering the colossal PS4 userbase atm, with many of those people (including me) definitely not prepared to upgrade. Developers can't release a "buggy mess" of a game on the original systems when there are so many people still using them. People just won't tolerate it.

Re: Feature: Our Favourite Nintendo E3 Moments

BranJ0

I kind of doubt we're gonna get any big moment at all this year, which is a shame. I have to say, looking at that Twilight Princess trailer and reaction, I don't understand why Nintendo is insistent on not doing a press conference any more. It just generates much more excitement, hype and anticipation, which nintendo desperately needs right now...

Re: Nintendo of Europe Unveils Over 40 Discounts for eShop 5 Year Anniversary Sale

BranJ0

@LemonSlice Ah ok, I must have misread your earlier post
@samuelvictor Ooh, that does sound better actually, I would prefer to play the more accessible game first, so I think I'm gonna try metroid fusion as my first 2D metroid game, hopefully then moving on to super metroid, and metroid prime as my first 3D one. Now I'm just really hoping I enjoy the games!

Re: Nintendo of Europe Unveils Over 40 Discounts for eShop 5 Year Anniversary Sale

BranJ0

@n64memories It really depends on what sort of Zelda gameplay you want. Seasons is slightly more action based, whereas Ages has slightly tougher puzzles, given the more complex nature of Ages' time travelling mechanic. However, Seasons does still have some great puzzles, and Ages still has good action. But I would say if you want the more challenging game, Ages, but if you want something slightly more accessible (but by no means really easy) then Seasons

Re: Poll: Do You Want The Rumoured 'MH' Next Generation Portable to be Separate from NX?

BranJ0

@DarthNocturnal But some people might not be able to afford a console-handheld hybrid in one go. With a handheld and console separate release, you can buy one, and then buy the other when you have enough money. That way you can play games on a new system sooner. If the NX was a hybrid of a console and a handheld, then you would have to save up and buy what is effectively two consoles at the same time. This might also put off many people on the market who are just looking for a console or a handheld, for instance if someone had a PS4 but wanted a portable console to take with them, or had a 3DS and wanted a home console, then they would likely not go for the one which is twice as expensive as it needs to be since it contains two consoles. So that's why I'm very wary of the rumours that the NX is a hybrid of the two gaming methods.

I did not know about the two teams merging though, so I was very wrong on that front

Re: Poll: Do You Want The Rumoured 'MH' Next Generation Portable to be Separate from NX?

BranJ0

I seem to be in the minority who would still like there to be separate home and portable consoles. It has the possibility to raise the price too high for many people (a problem with the Wii U), if it fails then Nintendo will have destroyed both their console and handhold market in one go, and two separate consoles tends to mean twice as many games since companies will be making for Wii U and 3DS as opposed to just one system

Re: Guide: Which Version Of Fire Emblem Fates Should You Buy?

BranJ0

@Shogun474 I would quite like to play all three games, if anything just to get the complete story of the three, but it's interesting that you think parts of the game are very weak. What about fates do you not like compared to other fire emblem games?

@Frank90 Yeah, it seems that both games have their pros and cons, with the cons of one game being the pro of the other. So it seems like the best thing to do is to play both!

Re: Guide: Which Version Of Fire Emblem Fates Should You Buy?

BranJ0

@3792M @Wexter Thanks for both of your replies, it seems as if Conquest is the better of the two story wise, but that neither are really all that astounding in their plot. I can definitely live with that, and I still intend to buy both, but it's a bit of a shame that they haven't focused on the plot more to make the game even better. They still both look great, and it sounds like there is a lot of potential in Conquest's storyline, so I'm looking forward to playing them!

Re: Guide: Which Version Of Fire Emblem Fates Should You Buy?

BranJ0

Considering the only fire emblem games I've played are Awakening and Sacred Stones, two of the supposed "easiest" fire emblems, I'm probably going to have to start with Birthright first. I am more interested in the mission variety of Conquest, but I think it's probably more sensible to go for Birthright, and then move onto Conquest.

Also, a quick question for anyone who's played Fates, how does the story compare to Awakening? I did enjoy Awakening's, especially near the end, but I thought that the middle with the Valm chapters were a bit dull and out of the blue, so I'm just wondering if Fates improves on Awakening's story problems at all

Re: Meet The Edgy And Mature Fan-Made Pokémon Game That Aims To "Fix" The Series

BranJ0

The adult themes and dialogue just seem unnecessary to me, because whilst they seem to be making this out as just a "mature" version of pokemon, people are missing the other changes they have made, which all sound fantastic. The games do need to be more difficult (maybe they should give us more difficulty options in the game), the characters and story are pretty bland, and the game has become VERY formulaic. So those changes are brilliant, and things that I think Gamefreak should actually consider. But the swearing and mild horror elements? Pointless
