2Awesome Studio has revealed a partnership with BoxFrog Games that'll see the beautiful-looking Lost Wing blast onto Nintendo Switch.
A game all about speed, guns, and juicy points, Lost Wing will have you making your way through "brutally-challenging environments" and destroying mega bosses in an attempt to sit at the very top of the leaderboards. The neon sci-fi aesthetic has us instantly intrigued for this one - everything's looking very lovely indeed in the trailer.
Tim Ash, Director at BoxFrog Games, has shared the following in a press release:
"Ever wondered what would happen if you mixed Wipeout and Thumper and added online leaderboard competition? That's what we set out to do with Lost Wing."
You'll need to destroy, dodge or jump over obstacles and even slow-down time when things get too tough. Here's a feature list to give you some more info:
- Test your reflexes in procedurally generated tracks.
- Feel the adrenaline rush at intense speeds and slow-down time when it's getting a little too close for comfort.
- High Definition Neon Sci-Fi atmosphere
- Unlock multiple ships and upgrade them with power ups.
- Show your might and destroy the megabosses
- Compete against other players on the online leaderboards.
- Focus on the acceleration infused electronic soundtrack.
No specific release date has been set for this one just yet, but we do know it's planned for a 2019 release. Gamescom attendees will be able to go hands-on with the game next month and you can also sign up to take part in a closed beta by joining this Discord server.

This was made by my mates....mate.
"procedurally generated tracks"
oh well no thanks
Speaking of thumper, I’d love a remaster and rerelease of Frequency on modern systems.
After watching the trailer, something about it doesn't quite click with me. I can't quite put my finger on it.
l bet if l played this game, it will put me to sleep and l will crash into things a lot.
@Dunan : it might be that it appears to be a runner with boss battles added. That's not to say the design, music and gameplay won't be worthy of an add to the collection, but have my doubts.
This reminds me more of N20 on PS1 than Thumper or WipEout.
Hi! Publisher here. First of all thanks a lot to Nintendo Life and Ryan for covering Lost Wing and thanks to you all for showing interest in it!
@Bunkerneath The tracks are procedurally generated using handmade areas so we are positive that their design is good. Also there are some tracks that are fixed in the game.
@bluedogrulez it is not a runner, you control the speed and can even enter bullet-time also you have full analog movement control.
@BorderlineJon A bit, yeah, also Tempest but it has it's own gist such as not being on fixed lanes and controlling your speed as in a racer.
In any case, you can try it out. As the article says we are going to run a free Closed Beta through our Discord and we will tweak the final game based on the feedback
OK, I'm down for this
This looks ace. I like the style and the music sounds great!
Looks nice, but will Switch version look and play like shown in video?
Will be keeping this on my radar, this looks like my kind of shoot 'em up.
@Bunkerneath @2Awesome I believe bunkers whole comment was basically he doesn't like random generated levels/tracks. I don't either personally. As far as having some fixed tracks means a few tracks to me. It also means if I don't like random generated tracks and but this for the few fixed tracks I will either have to play whatever track I get loaded into or if I'm able to even choose which tracks I can at or a random one I would basically be buying a half-assed game as I would utilize not even 50% of it.
Don't get me wrong there is a community that likes the mindless random stuff over and over. But for me I see no sense of accomplishment in doing it.
@Mycroft The best rhythm/music game ever made imho. Also, science genius girl is now stuck in my head.
It looks nice enough and I like the premise, but it looks like the controls are VERY twitchy, the ship is just bouncing all over the place.
Got this on steam early access a while ago and Im so glad it's coming to switch. One of the most addictive games I've ever played. I lost count how many times I've said 'one last go' and kept playing for hours after. It's really hard at first but once you get the hang of it it's really rewarding. Visuals are awesome and some of the sounds are really satisfying, great soundtrack too with some tracks that are really catchy. Can't wait for switch release!! I hope it runs as well as pc version but this as a definite buy for me.
@Ventilator Hey, this trailer is multiplatform and was recorded on Ultra settings on PC. I have to say though that the Switch version will not be very different. At the moment (we still have to optimize) it runs at 720p 30FPS on handheld and we will try to raise that as much as we can. We'll show Switch gameplay closer to the release.
@Dirty0814 Totally understood, everyone has different tastes and we respect that
@Racthet916 It is very hectic and you really need to be always on your toes but the controls are quite precise and tight.
@2Awesome Any chance it will run at 60fps in docked mode? Also, any chance of a high frame rate mode where resolution is lowered and frame rate mostly stays at 60fps? The game looks intriguing by the way!
@60frames-please we can't confirm at the moment. As I said we still need to do optimizations and test but our aim is to make it run at the fastest FPS we can.
@2Awesome Cool, got it. Thank you!
Love it when the devs jump into the comments, @2Awesome - it shows you care, and makes me a lot more interested in your game.
I’m not a fan of procedurally generated levels/tracks either - I prefer something handcrafted and fixed, so I can have favourite levels, and can challenge my bro to the same course in different countries.
@2Awesome Thank you. That sounds good.
...How is this like Thumper? This isn't a rhythm game...
Fantastic music, that's for sure!
@2Awesome What's the target price? Cudos for 720p in handheld mode!
@Bunkerneath
Exactly. They almost got me when I saw the boss-like part. "Wow maybe there are some interesting levels and progression and cleverly hidden important upgrades and it feels like a stylish adventure of sorts" then hit CTRL+F for searching.. "proced"... aaaaand that's it maybe next time.
@99x We're still working out the target price as it will depend on the amount of content we are able to fit in the game for launch.
