Re: Inti Creates Shows Off A New Blaster Master Zero 3 Gameplay Trailer

BlubberWhale

@Slowdive Awesome, thanks! Don’t know if I’ll be able to justify this one... (especially since I own a third already), but super cool that there’s a physical trilogy available. And yeah, Play-Asia is the best. (Now Playasia I guess.) Been occasionally shopping there for many years. On Switch I got the Japanese (or Asian?) Okami, some version of Mr. Driller... maybe something else too. Isn’t that all so interesting? 😅

Re: Review: Mushihimesama - A Cave Classic With The Right Kind Of Bugs

BlubberWhale

@Octorok385 Can’t wait to finally play this title! I just ordered a vesa converter adapter for my non vesa monitor and a rotating desk arm thing for Tate mode last night! Only about 35 bucks total 🙂

(Though Sunday I also ordered a 40 + 5 dollar shipping refurbished Switch dock so I can switch freely between my monitor and TV. Already have a proper spare Nintendo power adapter.)

Re: Talking Point: What's That One Switch Game You Can't Bring Yourself To Delete?

BlubberWhale

Massive SD card here (as of late last year), but also I tried to purge my list a couple times, so I know the sting of letting go of the past, but also the freedom it brings.

(But... still wanted to keep some massive games available, along with some of the first demos I got in 2017/18, so... new card. Plus basically every game I own I keep downloaded... was mostly talking about demos and other trash... I’m too tired to edit, this is all pointless. I’m sorry, good night. I liked this article, definitely relates to the reasons given as to why we do this.)

Re: Reminder: Game Builder Garage Is Out Now On Nintendo Switch

BlubberWhale

@ToadBrigade Me neither, but I don’t think I’ve given it a real shot, and I suspect the same for you.

Perhaps instead of approaching it like “here’s a bunch of tools, let’s see what I can do with them,” maybe take some time to daydream about makes you happy in games, what little scene would be fun. And do that before you even turn on the Switch and sit down. Just like... idk, I like cozy little old school dungeon platforming games with generic bats and ghosts... hopping around with a sword, solving a puzzle or two, swinging from a chain... it just takes a minute or two to get inspired if you give yourself a chance. I may actually try this, but... it’ll be competing against my dream of shooting a short film, so... maybe.

Sorry if I sounded preachy, just see this way too often, hate to see people casually selling themselves short. Like I’m no game developing savant either, but... I bet we can bother muster the confidence to create something great. (In this game or otherwise.) Peace and cheers!

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel #86 - Battletoads

BlubberWhale

@Tandy255 IKR? And Q*bert, Dig Dug, etc... these are the types of video game characters I want to both play as, and see represented.

(And to further add to the obvious; the NA box art kills it this time. Probably because it was made by a western developer who gave a damn about their game, unlike when a Japanese release is handled by a somewhat detached localization team... especially back in the 80s-90s.)

Re: Yuji Naka Parted Ways With Square Enix Following Balan Wonderworld's Release

BlubberWhale

@SwitchVogel No you’re completely right about all that. I was only speculating based on how unfinished it seemed... like it was just a side project a few people were doing in their spare time. Also Japanese developers can be very cheap (or the employees will work for less... sort of a dedication, cultural thing, as you probably know) and they can also be very efficient. Buuuut, I over exaggerated, it probably was a good few million spent.

Anyway, dang shame, amiright? Maybe someday it will be polished... perhaps by the modding community...

Re: Sakuna: Of Rice And Ruin Dev Hoped It'd Sell 30k Copies - It Just Passed One Million

BlubberWhale

@somnambulance Right, that’s a good way to put it. I too let it drag, but to be honest, I wasn’t able to commit to gaming much at the time (still play rather infrequently), and didn’t actually get very far into the game. I was really savoring the first part like you said. I sorta forgot, but you mentioning it reminded me... Really need to go back to it. 😁 (Actually Pikmin 3 Deluxe almost clicked in a similar way for me, and I haven’t played much at all of that one... I love my backlog!!) 😄

Re: Nintendo Wants To Know If You Would Fork Out $50 For A New WarioWare Game

BlubberWhale

@Spiders Oh yes, Wario World is awesome if like me, you go in with zero expectations. Reminds me that I need to go back and finish it, happened upon it for a steal of a deal, but never got very far. Loved it though. I agree with your suggestions though. Could be a lot more lively and creative. (But given the budget this game probably had, not too shabby.)

Re: Nintendo Wins $2.1 Million In Lawsuit Against ROM Website

BlubberWhale

It’s not that hard to understand why Nintendo doesn’t just dump all their old games on the eShop. Every time Nintendo releases an old game, it gets less exciting, and thus less valuable. Just look at how many people complain about Switch Online that “we already have these games,” or “I’ve already played this.”

They know what they’re doing, and like it or not, carefully timed, slow trickle release schedules are a part of valuing IPs.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Think The "Switch Pro" Will Actually Be Called?

BlubberWhale

@Razer Wasn’t there a fan reveal trailer of a next gen console called the Nintendo ON back in the Revolution days? (Early ‘06 probably)

Seemed cool at the time. There was so much hype leading up to the awesome GameCube’s successor... and then we got another GameCube with a weird controller. 😅

(I was all in on the Wii at the time, don’t get me wrong lol.)

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Think The "Switch Pro" Will Actually Be Called?

BlubberWhale

Wow, I voted Super Nintendo Switch thinking it would surely be in 3rd place or lower, but looks like lots of people really think that’s what it’ll be, or like me, just prefer it to “pro” or “new,” even though I suspect it’ll be something dumb like that. I guess pro is fine, whatever.

DX or LX would be better I think. Or Nintendo Switch Fat.

Re: Sakuna: Of Rice And Ruin Edges Towards One Million Sales

BlubberWhale

@Kieroni I hear ya friend. I bought a 512gb card so hopefully it will “solve” my problem, haha. Nah the real fix is coming from me also strictly curbing my buying habits, and just enjoying what I have. 😛 Backlog problems are fun problems to have! So many fun, curated-by-me games!

And yeah, I didn’t think you were, just more of a general precautionary recommendation... 👍 (My point being that I think you’ll enjoy it if you don’t fall into a hype trap, or set unreasonable expectations... sounds like you’ll be just fine. Whoever described it as “cozy” was right on.)

Re: Sakuna: Of Rice And Ruin Edges Towards One Million Sales

BlubberWhale

@Kieroni Don’t hype it up for yourself, just go in and let it do it’s quirky thing! Worth it imo. (Bought it, but I haven’t put a lot of time into it yet.) I liked what I played back when it came out, but yeah, working on my backlog too. Being a little more strict this year about finishing the games I start.
