I’m currently trying to introduce a female friend to games by getting her to be Gooigi in LM3. (Unfortunately I underestimated the time it would take to get that item, and she basically watched me play for an hour and then had to go home right before she was able to join... she’ll probably give it another go though, so we’ll see what happens heh.)

@ModdedInkling I know right? Without a deeper analysis one would think mainline 3D Mario titles would dominate or at least be nearer the top.

I suppose casual players don’t like core games, but core players like casual games.

Well a lot of people missed or skipped the GameCube generation of Nintendo gaming. So at least some young gamers may recognize the NES or possibly even the N64 before recognizing the GameCube... I remember not knowing a lot of people who were into it.

Nah you’re good haha, but a lot of that does sound like a you problem. I thought it was a joyous platforming extravaganza the likes of which I scarcely dared to hope possible of Nintendo’s modern era.

Still, I don’t have a problem with you critiquing the game and sharing your opinions. Thought they were fair enough. (Just wrong, lol) 😉

I will add my one criticism, but it has more to do with Nintendo generally than it does with Odyssey specifically. So when you want to invert the X-Axis (to be like most other Nintendo games, Sunshine, Mario 64, Twilight Princess, etc), it allows that, which is great, but then it also inverts first person aiming which is horrible. So whenever I was a tank or something I’d have to awkwardly rely on motion aiming or pause and change my control scheme back and forth when using those enemies... I got through it, but definitely hindered the experience.

@FroZtedFlakerZz Replaying is cool and all, but I’ll be plenty proud (and generous with my time) just going back to my original save to attempt 100%. I don’t know how many I have left but it’s a lot lol. Know how many you’ve got? (Also, I haven’t looked at any guides.)

No need for the “in the Super Mario series” qualifier. One of the greatest 3D platformers full stop.

We should all just start spelling it “Pak,” similarly to how most of us say “cartridge” when they’re clearly game cards... except the cartridge thing is a little cringe so maybe “Pack,” is fine, ha.

I agree though, outrage is an overreaction. Too expensive for me, but no big deal, I’ll just not buy it, and also not whine and complain all day. (I’m assuming a better deal sans AC will come, in which case maybe then...)

Like others, I kind of assume a cheaper version without Animal Crossing will be available later... they’re just really trying to push both AC and NSO onto people who don’t really care about one or the other.

Then back to a reasonable offer.

@Specter_of-the_OLED Flash cartoons can also be hand drawn. I guess if it’s animated right I would like it, but if it’s like a flat image with arms and legs animated like a paper doll... that’s the look I don’t like. If it’s real frame by frame animation like Cuphead, then sure, that looks pretty good.

@Gwynbleidd Yeah, never found the flash animated style appealing. Might give Ghosts n Goblins a chance, but... just... don’t try to hype up these remakes as “HD” or somehow better looking. Give me enhanced pixel art like Pocky and Rocky Reshrined. Cotton Reboot was a solid effort as well, even with the less awesome cut scenes... overall still a great buy.

@ModdedInkling I’ll probably feel that way once the “Switch 2” lands. Like whatever that ends up being is the real deal and what they should have (or at least could have) launched with in 2017...

Nah, don’t mind the current Switch, just gotta stick to the well optimized games and skip the rest.

Like others probably said already, I was impressed for a brief moment, and then I saw the word “Japanese.” 😏

EDIT: This OLED model may just be what the Switch needs to keep its momentum long enough to beat the PS4! 😃 (Lets be real, it’s not gonna touch the PS2...)

@PickledKong Yeah was interested in this back in the day after watching PewDiePie and Marzia play it, but that was my concern as well. Not a good enough game to play low res/low frame rate.

@X68000 Thanks for confirming that, and yeah, I’ll check in on that game again someday... Hoping for the best. (But I’ve got Reboot, so I’m basically good for quite a while... may eventually get that sequel, even through I’m not loving the graphics...)

PSA apparently the Cotton Saturn collection is crap (lag), but Cotton Reboot is great if you want some Cotton in your life.

I remember the excitement back in the day when a newcomer could seemingly be anyone... now they feel more like commercials for games. 😞
