Re: Review: Cotton Reboot! - The Wonderfully Playable "Cute 'Em Up" Is Resurrected For Switch

BlubberWhale

@LEGEND_MARIOID Did you get it yet? I got it in the mail last Wednesday, and its super fun! I was a bit worried I'd play it for a few days and be done, but I still feel drawn to go back and play it. (Especially since I'm just starting to get the hang of it... well, X68000 Mode... mostly playing that, but the remake/Arrange Mode is really fun and crazy too. I'm gonna wait til I really know the original pretty well before trying to master Arrange Mode though.)

EDIT: Totally buying Cotton Guardian Force Saturn Tribute!!! And... well, I just looked at the Rock 'n' Roll sequel. Oh... it doesn't look... super great. 😅 I think I'm too much of a fan at this point not to buy it though. I'll give it a chance. (I'm just surprised after how pretty Reboot is... maybe it'll improve before release or at least grow on me.) Didn't hate Umihara Kawase Fresh! (own that too), just prefer the look of the older games... but Cotton Rock 'n' Roll uses the same exact engine, and even features Umihara Kawase. I think Cotton is featured in Fresh! as well, just haven't gotten to that yet.

Re: M2 Is Bringing Toaplan's 'Tiger-Heli' And 'Ultimate Tiger' To Nintendo Switch This October

@60frames-please No I understand about trying to budget for this hobby and snagging deals whenever possible, heh. Just figured you played a lot more shmups than me so thought I’d look into any favorites you have. I haven gotten them yet, I’ll be buying Mushihimesama and Cotton Reboot soon. (And still waiting... year after year... for my physical copy of Game Tengoku CruisinMix Special. Fortunately Dispatch Games re-emerged on Twitter with promises to send out a free digital code to all who have been waiting so long... and supposedly the physical copies are still happening.)

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting A Switch OLED Or Valve Steam Deck?

BlubberWhale

I voted “neither,” but I will say it’s slightly tempting to try out the deck for a those few Steam games that don’t come to Switch... not quite worth it though when I can’t throw a rock without hitting and old pc that’ll run the sort of games I’m into.

(I’m Mac-only nowadays, but might have an ancient Dell or something laying around that I could resurrect.)

Re: WayForward Is Hoping To Bring Mystik Belle To Switch Soon

BlubberWhale

Well looks like it’s finally going to happen this year, but WayForward is no longer involved.

Andrew Bado, the developer (Last Dimension) announced Monday via Twitter that “If all goes well, look for #MystikBelle Enchanted Edition on Switch this October…“

Been waiting for this for 4 years 😅

Re: M2 Is Bringing Toaplan's 'Tiger-Heli' And 'Ultimate Tiger' To Nintendo Switch This October

BlubberWhale

@SpringDivorce Yeah, and Cotton. And The Game Paradise Cruisin Mix Special Super Ultra Flower Fun Adventure Ride or whatever it’s called lol. (I ordered it like 2 years ago, forgot the title.) And other weird titles that rarely leave Japan. I’d like to see an in-depth console comparison so we can officially crown Switch “King of the Shmups” ...or “Shooter King”... never loved the word “shmup” lol.

Re: Where To Pre-Order The Taito EGRET II Mini

BlubberWhale

@GrailUK IKR!? One of those little holes in my gaming life... no proper way to play Arknoid. Loved playing it on my PC many years ago with a mouse, and always dreamed about having access to a real arcade version... which I think played or at least saw in like a Pizza Hut or something in maybe 1st/2nd grade.

Re: Nintendo Won't Say Whether Switch OLED Joy-Con Fixes Drift, So Don't Count On It

BlubberWhale

@The-Chosen-one Same, but... probably not much of a surprise. Only people with too much money and would waste it on an incremental upgrade like this. I could even see spending the 350 on a new Switch (talking current owners here), if it were 1080p, but... I think they purposely held back on that for their real next gen console. This expensive OLED Model is here just to take advantage of the crazy demand for Switches... demand that can’t last TOO much longer. (Couple years tops?) Then we’ll get something that will be worth buying for us current owners.

Re: Feature: Treasure Games That Need Switch Ports Or Sequels

BlubberWhale

@gazamataz You just have to believe!! Lol You just have to have courage to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat! (Or some crap like that! lol) But for real, talent may play a small part, but mostly it’s determination and bravery. Spirit. Sounds like there’s a little self doubt here. You can do it! Just remember the game (any of them), as crazy as it seems, was indeed designed to be played by mortal flesh. Sometimes you have to do a little memorizing of patterns, or a little trial and error, but learn a little at each death. Maybe more than what you’re willing to do after a hard day’s work or whatever... play easy games in those times, but save some time for serious gaming. The rewards for destroying a game you at first thought was impossible extend far beyond your gaming life and you’ll see benefits even in regular life. You’ll see your confidence grow, and you’ll notice you’re more willing to tackle new projects, solve problems more easily... IDK, just some stuff I noticed in myself after I started realizing I could actually beat some hard (for me) games. Thinking shmups and platformers... but same applies to any difficult game I guess.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Shmups

BlubberWhale

Man... this is like a dream come true. My GameCube/Wii era self would have flipped at all these scrolling shooters on a Nintendo platform. I mean Cotton Reboot!? AND a new Cotton sequel!?!? WHAT!? So spoiled, I love it! (Now give me Guxt and, as long as I’m here dreaming... GUXT 2!!)

Re: Nintendo Employee Tells Fans To Stick With The Current Switch, If They're Not "Digging" The OLED Screen

BlubberWhale

@DehCad There won’t be a pro. If they make super powerful Switch and try to market it as a Switch Pro it will just be filling in as their next gen console at that point... at least I hope Nintendo doesn’t just do a modest spec bump 2 years from now and then expect it to last 5-6 years after that... before then FINALLY getting to the Switch 2 in like 2028... yikes. (Not totally out of the realm of possibility.... they basically milked all the potential of the GameCube hardware from 2001 to 2012... and look at the Game Boy. Essentially the same hardware from 1989 to 2001.)

Re: Nintendo Employee Tells Fans To Stick With The Current Switch, If They're Not "Digging" The OLED Screen

BlubberWhale

@fafonio Totally agree, we don’t need this update if we own one already, and we don’t need a mid gen “Pro” model either. I don’t agree about the many years left though. I say 2 more years. Sometime between March and November 2023 we’ll see the Switch 2... or at least an announcement by by late 2023 with another March release in 2024. You could argue the Switch will still get a few releases after that though, thanks to its huge install base... so you could be right from that perspective.

Re: Inti Creates Shows Off A New Blaster Master Zero 3 Gameplay Trailer

BlubberWhale

@RetroOutcast Yes! Can’t wait to play Cotton! And that Mura-something or other vertical bug scroller! I’ll be buying the heck out of both as soon as I finish a couple more games. As for Blaster Master... interested! I think I finally bought the first one but haven’t played it much. Played a good few hours on the original NES version back in like 2016 maybe.

(Actually, now I’m gonna go watch the trailer for part 3 since I’m home with WiFi now.)

EDIT: BMZ3 looking good!
Also: Mushihimesama! Not even close lol.
