Re: PlatinumGames' Sol Cresta Blasts Onto Nintendo Switch This February

BlubberWhale

@ArmoredGoomba If it’s an hour long, that’s really long for a shmup. That said, I agree, should be closer to 20 dollars. I’m sure we can get it on sale before too long though. Also, a note on length… shmups really are about completing once and moving on like maybe other action/story games. More about trying to 1 CC or high score chasing. I’d like to get a little more into the scene, but personally I do like shmups that make you start at the beginning of a level with a certain amount of lives and maybe continues… rather than just letting you add credits and blast through the game. Feels more rewarding to beat when the game doesn’t let you cheat… otherwise you’re sorta forced into making your own rules, and I like beating the games rules better… rant finished. (I’m happy to clarify, just typing in a hurry.)

@digimaster7 Lol that last bit is sad but so true. Why are so many western artists just terrible at making appealing cartoon characters? It doesn’t even have to be super anime, just… make ‘em cute for once dang it! (We’ve lost the comment in wake of 3rd wave feminism….)

K I’m most joking, but a lot of western artists really need to work on their style… (Lots of amateurs are good, don’t get me wrong. Appealing characters with a more Western style can be done… and heck even Frozen does it pretty well… not my favorite style, but it’s not bad.)

BlubberWhale

@Ventilator Oh wow, sounds, I don’t blame you for bit double dipping at prices like that, but maybe like you said, you’ll snag a great deal sometime.

Hey that sad about your MK8 HDD. I hope it had a good life… RIP. Hmm.. I wonder what my tip Nintendo characters even are… 🤔

Also I agree, that resolution bump on several of the Wii U ports is great selling point. Probably helped push me to get some of them… Captain Toad included. (Though like Pikmin, probably would have got it anyway. Sad about Pikmin haha.)

Re: Kirby And The Forgotten Land Nintendo Switch File Size Revealed

BlubberWhale

I just hope the movement is fun and not too slow a limited. Odyssey is more for experienced gamers, I get that, but it doesn’t mean Kirby can’t jump high and run fast… to some degree. Level design looks solid, so it’s mostly about the main mechanics for me. That’s why some of my favorite games are platformers… it just feels good to rub around and play in the stages. (Or it should…)

Re: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Is The Next Free Trial For Nintendo Switch Online (North America)

BlubberWhale

@Ventilator That’s true. I can’t say for sure what I would do, as I never had a Wii U when it was current (have one now… kinda… a sad beat up one with a broken gamepad), but I love the game so much it would be tempting to double dip for the DLC. Well… realistically I would probably wait until I could find it second hand for maybe 20-25 USD. Was it 40 or 50 brand new? I forgot…

Although I would also want to support it, so I might just buy it from a store to show that people like the game… Yep, I’m that much of a Captain Toad fan, and certainly don’t expect everyone to be… although I do expect everyone to give it a chance lol

Re: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Is The Next Free Trial For Nintendo Switch Online (North America)

BlubberWhale

@gloom I know you’re partially joking, but don’t be upset, this is a masterpiece. Money well spent. Plus if you’re anything like me you wouldn’t finish it before the trial runs out. (Shoot I’ve had it pretty much since the Switch version released, but haven’t quite gotten through it all. Buuuut, I’m also savoring it and playing it slowly, 100%-ing a couple levels here and there, taking long breaks to play other games… honestly glad I still have more new levels to play.)

Re: Kirby And The Forgotten Land Scores March Release Date, New Trailer Appears

BlubberWhale

@Dragwhite Awesome! I need to play both. I sorta messed around with Super Star a bit (I think), and was confronted with a bunch of weird mini games and multiplayer modes… didn’t know what the main game was and quit lol. (I’m sure it’s there… somewhere… and good too, just too many games to play.)

Only Kirby games I have real familiarity with is Dreamland 2, and Canvas Curse. (The OG original Dreamland too, but never owned it or finished it… a little bit of Adventure on NES… own it but never put much time in.)

Oh I keep remembering more. Tasted Epic Yarn (Wii), but again, didn’t really start with the intent to take on the whole game. Star Allies really put me off to modern Kirby… didn’t play it a ton… will probably make myself finish it.

Hmm… well, thanks for reading?? Lol

Re: Video: YouTuber Runs The Ultimate Switch OLED Burn-In Test, Left On For Over "1800 Hours Straight"

BlubberWhale

@SnesSwitch IKR? It’s pretty awesome!

I just find what happened to the Wii so sad. Sure lots of I’d gamers used it to it it’s full potential, but I’m guessing a solid 40 million or more units were only used as Wii Sports machines, and a lot of those probably weren’t even used often. Such a huge waste. I guess I’m just annoyed at people who buy games and hardware but who don’t know themselves well enough to know that they aren’t going to use them. Or… like they don’t have the imagination to understand the fun of something like Mario Galaxy… ugh, I need to get back to work, don’t have time to properly vent with any eloquence lol.

But yeah, seems like people are actually using their Switches more. Still hard to understand when people don’t seem interested in something like Odyssey, Captain Toas, or Link’s Awakening… so many quality titles, stop buying crap people! 😂 Lol k, thanks for reading.

@NeonPizza I’m with ya friend on Klonoa and Shake It! And yes, never owned or played Returns, and weirdly still haven’t gotten far into TF. The latter is such a gorgeous game, especially on Switch, which is how I own it, but… I have a few quibbles with it… mostly the run/jump mechanics not being as tight as the older entries. I think I got frustrated by one of the early bosses and sorta quit eventually. Lol

Love me a good challenge but damn… and this coming from some who beat the original DKC… I think.

Re: Nintendo Switch Has Now Sold 92.87 Million Units, And It's Catching The Wii

BlubberWhale

@Blooblah Scalping is a fairly reliable indicator of a popular product, and the same happens to all the good consoles. If those scalpers misjudged the market, well, they’re stuck with a bunch of Switches. If they sell them to impatient rich kids, Nintendo sells Switches either way so unfortunately it counts and doesn’t matter.

(Sure maybe Nintendo could try harder to counter this, but of all the things to hate on Nintendo about, this is very low on my list… let’s get these stupid joy-cons fixed.) 😛

Re: Best Of 2021: 14 Wii Games That Deserve Switch Ports

BlubberWhale

@Kirby_Girl You seem like a true fan so let me ask you… do you think Kirby has lost something in his modern games? I’m talking mechanically. Have to sleep now so basically his jump feels gimped, ie, slower and shorter, and his flying is lame too… his cheeks used to balloon all huge (an aesthetic, but still), and you could fly all over and run and jump freely. Fall faster…. now everything is so… babified. The focus is on flashy abilities while the levels are smaller and simpler, requiring Kirby to not have as much movement freedom. Seems like developers trying to limit Kirby so they don’t have to design as much level…

Welp, not well written or explained, but something like that… Goodnight/morning.

Re: Best Of 2021: 14 Wii Games That Deserve Switch Ports

Seriously? 3% for Klonoa? 😅 I’ve lost all faith in my fellow Nintendo fans. JK, I’ve always been a ridiculous cartoon mascot loving outsider.

At least Wario got double digits… barely. (10%)

I knew Kirby would do poorly (6%), but if they could make the yarn have more realistic HD texture… yeah, I’d probably have to get it even though I have it on Wii. Lol

Re: Talking Point: 5 Reasons That Nintendo Switch Is Still A Hot Product

BlubberWhale

@The-Chosen-one You played most of the first party games already? Link’s Awakening?

Speaking if Zelda, I also recommend Kamiko. Simple sure, but cozy. Don’t know why but loved it and I’m probably gonna play through it again. (Yeah it was eventually released on steam a couple years later, but I view it as a Switch game. Opposite for Mystik Belle, but since I’m on Mac, I got it for Switch.)

You don’t have to respond to my late-night nonsense lol.
