@TheBoilerman CDs are still the best physical media. Easy to store, gorgeous sound and last a lifetime (if looked after).

Is there a benefit to Nintendo of no backwards compatibility? Absolutely! All of us mugs will spend millions buying the same games again for the new system maybe with updated visuals/performance.

@Stormcloudlive 600 games sure is a huge collection so I get why you need multiple TB cards. But for the average switch gamer a single 1TB card will be more than enough this gen.

@Stormcloudlive Doom and Doom Eternal are 20GB each so I'm not sure why you say they use 'hundreds' of GB. A 1.5TB card should easily hold an enormous switch library. If not, then you probably have far too many games downloaded that you will never end up playing.

Quake on Switch was stunning. Playing in bed until early hours in a dark room smiling the whole time. Will be playing Quake II later tonight hope it's as good.

It should be easy to verify if there is at least a game cartridge present or not without having to remove the sealed wrap. I have a couple of sealed games and I can clearly see a game cartridge through the transparent sides of the box.

Stage 3 complete! On to Stage 4. Absolutely amazing game. Hardcore but fair and hugely enjoyable.

Playing this for the first time in 2023. I downloaded it ages ago for my Wii but only started playing now. I'm loving this game. Just beat Stage 2 and now working through Stage 3. The music is astonishing.

I got in and got all the way to checkout but then found out about the very long delivery times. I'd have to wait until November to receive a shirt - that's 6 months! Not interested now.

Just bought a new physical copy in 2023, one of the reissues because it's in the thinner box. Absolutely loving this, 30 hours in and I'm hooked. Can't believe I missed this gem all those years ago but really happy to be playing it now.

My absolute favourite is not on a Nintendo system but I always have to return to WoW for Winter's Veil celebrations.

@Dr_Lugae Well that's not true. Rare Pokemon cards will always have value. The TCG is 25 years old and is too big and well established to fail. Sure the value of certain cards will go up and down as the market determines but the value will never be zero.

@Anti-Matter It's all relative. If you have millions in the bank, as some collectors do, then spending a few hundred thousand to add some rare cards to your collection is peanuts. Same if you have thousands in the bank, spending a few hundred to add to your collection is peanuts.

What a wasted opportunity. It is frankly astonishing that they didn't use this chance to upgrade the tegra x1 chip. That's a 5 year old chip. What?! Do Nintendo think it's good for another 5 years?!

We all need to boycott this. Nintendo will only do something about it if the OLED tanks. Please all pass on this and hopefully Nintendo will get the message.

Just no. Constantly rubbing your thumb over the screen surface for analogue control actually becomes painful after any extended play time. Touch screen is no substitute for a proper stick or d-pad.

Great news. Been waiting patiently for this. I need the holo Pikachu for my collection and glad I didnt pay eBay prices...£40-£50 for that card. Hope I don't have to buy 25 happy meals to get the card I want.

Looks like they've been dredged up from the bottom of a canal and they probably still work flawlessly. A testiment to Nintendo build quality.

Astral Chain this weekend. I'd bought it last year and didn't play more than a couple hours, but I've got back around to it now. I really like its vibe and combat is satisfying.

The blend doesn't work for me. You have Mario and pals as 2D stickers and the game world and characters in glorious 3D origami. I don't get it. Why not do everything in 3D origami?

@SwitchForce what are you on about? This thing doesn't push your switch's internal fan. It relies on a thermal spreader cooling the switch's case which is stupid and doesn't work.

I'm playing it now for the first time on my old Wii...picked up a copy on eBay (not cheap 😉). I absolutely love it. I can't believe this masterpiece passed me by almost 10 years ago. I'll be waiting for a sale to double dip on Switch though.

Surely every kid with a NES knew about this in the 80s? It was well published in magazines of the day: C&VG, Nintendo Power, etc.

@RaphaBoss I'm going to wait for Eternal to come to Switch (I did play 2016 on PC). I've seen how id have upped the ante on Eternal and can imagine how extreme this one plays.

Most stressful: Doom (2016). A non-stop ultra violent, rage fuelled rampage against an endless horde of monsters from hell. It's stressing me out just thinking about it.

Least stressful: Abzu. A peaceful, ethereal escape that puts me into a zen like state.
