Re: Nintendo Has Discontinued The NES Classic Edition in North America

Beau_Skunk

Even though I luckily got mine, and I understand it's not a "long term product," it upsets me, because it hasn't even been out a year, and demand is still high. I wanted to buy one for my nephew's birthday too, as he really loved mine. Poor kid...

It's times like this that make me almost dislike the Switch, as I'm sure it's partially to blame. (And I'm willing to bet Switch's VC NES games will have the terrible coloring/brightness the Wii, WiiU, and 3DS versions have, instead of improving the emulation.)

Re: Dylan Cuthbert Talks About Star Fox, The 'Old' Sequel ROM and Working at Nintendo

Beau_Skunk

I love Nintendo, but after hearing that, I lost a li'l respect for them. I've been dying for the original Star Fox to get a rerelease somehow, and a remake for 3DS, even with the original blocky graphics, but in 3D with a better framerate would be AWESOME!
I guess Star Fox isn't "popular" enough...
It would've been great as an Eshop "3D Classics" title. (A line of games Nintendo quickly abandoned, oddly dispite good sales of the line.)

@Drummertist
"Also, why does Sonic have to hit "boosters" to go faster? Those weren't in the 2D games."
Play "Chemical Plant Zone" in Sonic 2. You should hate that game too then. Boy, people's hate for modern Sonic games is making them blind to the fact, even the old 2D games have some things they hate about the new games. (Same for "Freedom Planet." I see people bash Sonic for having voice acting, cinema scenes, Shadow riding a motorcycle, ect. Exactly the same things in that game too.)

Also, honestly the fan game "Sonic Utopia" doesn't look better to me. It's too much freedom in all directions, (so you have no clue where to go) and hardly any enemies, obsticles, and such.

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories You Should Buy

Beau_Skunk

@Jcdbengals I hear it was actually better to clean NES cartridges with a Q-tip then blowing on them, as blowing on them can actually damage them. Still, I wouldn't fault the NES too much for that, as keeping cartridges clean goes for every system. Not to mention personally, my NES still works, while my old computers & such don't.

Still, I understand your disapointment in Switch as I kinda am too, it looks nice, and I might get one some day, but all the expensive accessories/controllers, and such are kinda a turn-off. Honestly, I prefer my WiiU right now.

Re: Review: Super Bomberman R (Switch)

Beau_Skunk

@Rei
Hudson Soft. went out of business years ago. So Konami owns most of their franchises now.
A Bomberman game actually was planned for 3DS back in 2011, and even previewed in Nintendo Power magazine, but it was cancelled for unknown reasons.

Re: Video: Here's Your First Look At The Nintendo Switch eShop

Beau_Skunk

@Lizuka Yeah, it feels like Nintendo's copying Sony too much lately. Even the Switch box doesn't look very Nintendo-like.
I hate to be "that guy," but it feels like Nintendo's losing their quirky uniqueness, and spirit in favor of "what's trendy" or trying to be "mature" in electronic devices/business. I don't want them to become Sony, or Microsoft. (Nothing against them.)

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch Pro Controller

Beau_Skunk

Actually, the GameCube-style Pro-Classic controllers for Wii/WiiU feature the analogue preasure sensative Lz & Rz trigger buttons, but no game really used the preasure sensative part like on GameCube.
Plus pressing them all the way constantly for them to register was kinda annoying.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Wants an 'Evolved 2D Style' From His Legend of Zelda Handheld Dev Team

Beau_Skunk

@WarlockNem It wasn't easy, but Zelda 2 gets easier once you master how the shield works, and the "Punch-out" style of fighting. Not to mention once you figure out how to get through the southern Death Mountain cave maze. The life restoring spell helps too.

Honestly, I felt Zelda 1 was harder. Some dungeons were very well hidden, and the game was more vague on what to do next.

Re: The Castlevania Netflix Series Will Be Based on Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse

Beau_Skunk

@3MonthBeef Granted some later Castlevania games have some pretty gory & gruesome enemies. (Like the "Beezlebub" boss) Though, yeah I agree it was more of an action/adventure series, then "horror," I hope they keep that in mind. If it's too gross, and scary, that'll ruin it.

@Windy Yeah, ironically that's the problem with most adult cartoons. The more "mature" they try to be, the more immature they get. (Though, of course I enjoy some like "Rick & Morty.")

I hate to say it, but they also sounded a li'l egotistical, calling it the "first good game adaptation." I actually enjoyed some of the old corny video game cartoons, and such as a kid.
Even the strange Super Mario Bros. & Street Fighter movies were enjoyable guilty pleasures for me.

Re: There Are Currently 'No Plans' For Final Fantasy XV On Nintendo Switch

Beau_Skunk

@CGSasuke Not counting the spinoffs, & DS remakes, yes. Expecting a new main canon FF game on a Nintendo console would be like expecting Halo for a Nintendo system. It's just not going to happen. (Granted we thought the same about Sonic & Crash Bandicoot.)

Nintendo & Square/Enix always claim they are good supporters of each other, but I have yet to see it, aside from a few Mario sports games they collaborated on. (And didn't even regard the SMRPG characters like Geno in them...) I rarely see Square/Enix games on Nintendo systems, even the WiiU/3DS Virtual Console lacks many of them.

As for SSB Cloud & the Geno Mii costume only got in, because of fan-demand.

Re: The Castlevania Netflix Series Will Be Based on Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse

Beau_Skunk

I actually played Castlevania as a kid, you'd be surprised.

I think I'd prefer it being PG or TV-14 personally, (seeing as Castlevania 3 wasn't very violent, nor had anything sexual/vulgar at all.) if it's R- rated I hope that content is at least in moderation, (fantasy violence wouldn't bug me as much, seeing how violent some of the games are) or it could mess up the adaptation. I don't care to see "love scenes," or South Park levels of swearing in Castlevania.

The only good R-rated adaptation I've seen of anything is the "Deadpool" movie. Some like the adult "Ren & Stimpy" cartoon just go overboard.

Re: Nintendo Download: 9th February (North America)

Beau_Skunk

I feel "Gameboy Donkey Kong 1994" was better honestly, (Mario VS DK didn't have as much variety in it's environments, enemies, and puzzles, and relied on the red/yellow/blue switches too much) but nice to see a new GBA game on VC. Maybe the Sonic Advance trilogy does have a chance of making it outside of Japan.

Re: Nintendo Download: 2nd February (North America)

Beau_Skunk

@GameOtaku I'm curious why they ignore the 3DS VC too. For the past 2 years, it's gotten nothing, but the DKLand trilogy, the original 3 Pokémon games, and some SNES titles for New3DS. That's it.
I heard awhile back, some third-party company wanted to put a Gameboy game of their's on VC/Eshop, and Nintendo wouldn't let them. According to said company Nintendo stated they "moved beyond Gameboy games." So apparently, Nintendo doesn't care, or want to bother with it anymore. (If it's such a hassle for them, they should outsource VC development to another company like M2, or N.E.R.D.)
Not to mention, Japan has some NES games for 3DS that still aren't on the US or Euro' VC including Bubble Bobble, Final Fantasy 1, and Shadowgate. Nintendo is really neglecting 3DS fans who like old-school games.

Re: Kimishima on the Role of the 3DS After the Switch Launch

Beau_Skunk

Sense the Switch is a single-screen, less portable, no 3D system I never really saw it as a replacement for the 3DS. It's bad enough it's replacing the WiiU, so I see no reason to get rid of the 3DS yet.

And for those saying it's "crazy to support 2 systems," Nintendo's been doing that for decades. Sometimes they even did 3.

Re: Reggie on Wii U Support Going Forward

Beau_Skunk

@Ralizah Actually, I hear the 3DS is doing fine, (outsold every console, including PS4) and the New3DS's faster tech has actually modernized it more.

The Switch can be successful without having to destroy the 3DS, or their other products, (the "NES MINI" proves other low-tech products can still be successful, so your argument that "outdated tech should be forgotten in favor of more powerful HD systems" doesn't hold much water. It was actually this logic that killed some game systems.)

And honestly, I'm not all that impressed with the Switch. Expensive console, expensive accessories, expensive subscription services, and such aren't something I'm looking forward to, and if anything will hurt the system, it will be those factors, not the 3DS. Plus the lack of some features the 3DS & WiiU offered like backwards compatibility kinda turn me off too. This is the first upcoming Nintendo system I'm not looking forward too, but some games for it look great, so I might get one sometime when I know more about it, and it has more games & features to offer.

Re: Nintendo Download: 26th January (North America)

Beau_Skunk

I'm honestly more excited to finally get to play "Kung-Fu Heroes" for the first time sense I was little, then I am about the Switch. (Honestly, I'm not ready to spend another 300 bucks personally.) Forget the complainers, they're never satisfied anyways.

Also, never played the sequel "Little Ninja Brothers" anyone recommend it?

Re: Reggie on Wii U Support Going Forward

Beau_Skunk

@Ralizah I'm sure they're already putting most of their resources into it already, but they can't put all of their stake in it, as they're also trying to focus on other things too, like Mobile, that upcoming amusement park thingie, merch', hidden projects, and such.
Plus in case it fails they need a backup system like the 3DS which helped their business through the WiiU era.

The Switch looks nice, but honestly it doesn't look like a replacement for the 3DS. (The 6-hour battery life, larger size, and such, also makes it less portable then a 3DS.)

Re: Reggie on Wii U Support Going Forward

Beau_Skunk

@Ralizah Considering the 3DS was quite successful, and that many including myself still have one, I'd hate for it to get killed off too. Nintendo doesn't need to get rid of all their products just to make Switch a success. Besides, back when they were focusing more on WiiU games then 3DS ones, that didn't make any difference.

It's bad enough it doesn't get VC games anymore. (Besides the occasional SNES game only New3DS owners get.) I don't understand people that want Nintendo's current systems to die in favor of the Switch. Not all of us can afford to upgrade to one.
