As we close in to the release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild it is customary for more details to emerge. If you are wanting to venture into the world of Hyrule completely blind come March 3rd, however, then click away now.
Previously we mentioned a screenshot showing a lone wanderer in front of what seems to be a merchant's hut. Now, thanks to Game Informer, we have a clear image of the character revealing that the adorable purveyor of goods - Beedle - will be returning.

Beedle will be making his sixth appearance in the Zelda universe after making his debut in Wind Waker and most recently in Skyward Sword for the Wii. The merchant can now be found sporting an enormous backpack full of all sorts of products that he will no undoubtedly overcharge for.
A couple of other interesting screens from the gallery show a dungeon boss and Link riding a horse, for instance.

The Game Informer magazine goes into quite a bit of detail on how some in-game economies and mechanics work, including horses. We'll leave some things as surprises, but you can grab a download or physical copy of the issue if you want the details right from the source.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be releasing simultaneously on the Nintendo Switch and Wii U on 3rd March worldwide.
Are you happy Beedle is returning? Which other characters would you like to appear?

Meh
THAAAAAANK YOOOOOOOU!
I want the juice Beedle is on, Beedlejuice!
Also, if that is Epona she needs to lay off the hay!
Haha, and he's even carrying a beetle-shaped backpack this time! xD
I have never played Zelda games due to disinterest about Elf looking and green outfit but this series looks different. Link in blue outfit indeed nice. I heard on Breath of the Wild, we can cook some meals in the wild with ingredients from battle or buy from merchant. Is that true ? Sounds interesting...
Okay this is officially the last bit of botw news I will be looking at!
It's time for a media blackout!
Wish me luck 😀
Would love see those economy and mechanics details, not sure why you guys haven't popped them up as you would do normally with the slightest bit of news unless you're directing us to buy a copy of the mag?
Hate Beedle, always have, ever since he turned up in windwaker. The only reason for him was to buy bait.
@Great_Gonzalez HA! i tried not to look at this for 2 minutes, then cracked.
I love how the stylized shaders used for the characters allow for more simple and abstract people like Beedle to be in there, alongside the more realistically proportioned Link and Zelda.
This sort of thing got a little creepy in Twilight Princess with detailed skin and cloth.
No Tingle? Nintendo is doomed, I'm canceling my pre-order!
Skull Kid Skull Kid Skull Kid Skull Kid Pllllleeeeeaassseeee
My favourite game character on all time.
What does Beedle wear? Womens top?
@Bunkerneath
I lasted about 10 seconds....
@Flauber Don't worry my friend, I shall be there!
What a load of koolah-limpah if it's Tingle
Make a "oh no, hopefully we won't see Tingle because he's gross and creepy" joke.

C'mon, I dare you.
If Hyrule Warriors is any indication, I believe Mr. Aonuma is not a big fan of Tingle.
I, on the other hand, am not a big fan of Beedle, but I don't hate the guy. Now, THAT beetle-backpack was just an amazing idea.
Lol i want happy man sales man. I want to know more about that guy with all the masks on his back.
Metroid confirmed
@Tingle_The_Great Lz is the real Tingle, not you!
The whole setting of this game is appealing. Three more weeks!!
See that mountain on the horizon? If you walk for days you will eventually reach it...
...and when you get there Beedle will already be waiting for you.
I need to go on a media blackout for this game. Those pictures show too much!
Oooooohhhhh.... THANK YOU!!
Game is looking fantastic.
This is cool. I'd love to see the little buck-toothed pirate kid from WW — or even the little snot-bubble kid. They crack me up!
@Anti-Matter
HAHAHAHA!! You sound a lot like me! I usually steer away from any "elf" or "sword" looking things, never liked Lord of the Rings etc.
That being said, oh my god, you need to play a Zelda game. If not this one, at least give Wind Waker a shot. It is one of ** the ** greatest, most ingeniously designed video games ever, ever made. I promise you that is no exaggeration.
Why is Beedle wearing a crop top?
@Anti-Matter That's why you didn't play? The green tunic?
I hope that it is featured in the game... they may as well take out the Triforce as well.
@Anti-Matter
You really don't know about the cooking mechanic? That was revealed a long time ago and shown off in several videos. And now that he's in a blue outfit, you all of a sudden are interested in the game? Really?!
Do people really want Tingle back?
@Sir_JBizzle
I was gonna make a similar comment in that this boss looks like something you'd see in a metroid game. I'm impressed with how it looks, yet it doesn't look out of place in this game.
@Cosmic-K9 Yes. Yes, we do.
Watch out Beedles about!
Beedle is an interesting character but I hope players will also meet Tingle or The Travelling Mask Salesman.
I didn't know Knack was a boss in the game!
No Tingle in this game as he's finally been arrested
@Anti-Matter in Ocarina of Time Link sports tunics in green, red and blue. Four Sword there are four different tunics.
Just play it for the game and if the tunic bothers you so much adjust the colors of your tv.
@TossedLlama on first glance at the screenshot, i initially thought it was the HMS, but no. Unless BOTW is the secret history of how Beedle becomes the HMS (this may involve some form of time travel between timelines to make sense, but at this stage I don't think that's beyond the realm of possibility). After all, we've never seen Beedle in the "Child timeline" before...
https://zeldawiki.org/images/7/7c/Timeline_Hyrule_Historia.jpg
So this game takes place after Ocarina of Time but I wonder how things will turn out for our hero in the end...
I saw the backpack, and I was like: HAPPY MASK SALESMAN!!!
Then I realised it was Beedle…
I figured out that was Beedle ages ago, but it's nice to see it confirmed.
Three...more...weeks....At least Link got to sleep for the entirety of his long wait. XD
@AlexSora89 well, I always hated Tingle and I always will.
Please No Spoilers
Has Beedle opened a medical marijuana dispensary in Hyrule then?
@Great_Gonzalez Likewise buddy
Oh! Thaank yoouu, Nintendo!
@Anti-Matter "I have never played Zelda games due to disinterest about Elf looking and green outfit"
What? Is that the only reason why you haven't played Zelda? May I ask what your problem is with green outfits and elves? ... I think you sound like a YouTube commenter I met some years ago that said elves were "gay and stupid".
Saw him almost a month ago:
@Anti-Matter I thought I've heard it all, lol.
This is Aonuma. He won't do a 100% serious Zelda. I'd be shocked if it didn't have some side humour. It would be great if there were a secret tribe of Tingles
POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not to start a timeline debate, but I read on the IGN article about this that apparently, there is an in game item that refers to an "ancient sea". So I;m getting a sense that this, coupled with a ton of other clues, points to this game taking place after WW?
@CrazyMetroid
Why? Being quirky is his entire shtick.
Not a fan of Beedle and never a fan of Tingle. I'm personally waiting for the day Nintendo makes NPCs that actually look more appealing (at least for humanoid type characters). Twilight Princess was on the right track but Wind Waker and Skyward Sword featured some NPCs that just looked weird standing next to Link or Zelda.
@G-Boy
I have never played Zelda before and I don't know whether I will play BOTW or not. Link outfit in Blue color kinda caught my attention, compared with Green tunic that less impressed me. Once again, I don't know if I want to play this game or not. I will take a look again after the game released. I still curious...
@UmbreonsPapa impossible
Zoras can't exist after WW
Old news at this point. His shop appeared on several trailers and images.
@Wendigo Of course that's what Nintendo stated back in 2003. But stories and plots get retconned all the time. Heck the entire timeline was retconned to be what it is today. There is nothing that states, for sure, that some of the Zoras couldn't have possibly moved elsewhere and the ones who stayed in Hyrule all died out or evolved to the Rito
Let's also not forget that a form of Zora does exist in the timeline in Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. So who's to say that when the Great Sea receded, the Zora's didn't return to Old Hyrule or that the Zora's from PH or ST didn't revert to what we come to know Zora's looking like?
I shouldn't have watched, but that sci-fi thing? Awesome! How do you know its a dungeon-boss by the way, it takes place in open air!
As for Beedle: Aonuma loooooves him, apparently. As far as I know he's a supporting character that is in the most games (Windwaker, Phantom hourglass, Spirit tracks, Skyward sword and now this one)!
@Sir_JBizzle,
Lol, you took the words out of my mouth!
Tingle was incredibly, incredibly (can I say incredibly one more time?) gay. He made Richard Simmons look
like The Rock.
@Anti-Matter I sincerely hope everything about that was sarcastic.
we already knew this :/ this wasn't news
@Sir_JBizzle
I know! I said this yesday! Looks like a chozo with an arm cannon!
March is taking forever... hurry up!
Nice to see a classic character return. Hope more cameo.
The shirt's a bit odd though.
Evil eye confirmed
@Turbo857 http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/zelda/images/c/cd/Charlo.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/297?cb=20111013085649 this is the dude you first meet in castle town... tell me how is this realistic? zelda, not even TP, has ever had realistic character design.
@Anti-Matter can you explain why it never interested you tho? none of the zelda trailers really caught your eye at least once?
@HMNIM
I have never played Zelda games before so I have no idea the content inside ( gameplay method, storyline, character's name, enemies, etc)
The older Zelda games didn't impressed me at all due to green outfit + hat of Link because i'm not fan of Elf looking characters, Legend of Ring type storyline and medieval outfits.
But for BOTW, at first it still didn't catch my attention until I watch so many times the latest trailer and for some reason, the new blue outfit of Link + no hat anymore + trailer music slowly catch my attention. But still... I think again if I want to try this Zelda games for the first time or not, after watched the demo gameplay. Sorry for making you curious.
I've skipped a lot of information on this game. Is there snowfall/rain?
@Great_Gonzalez I need to do the same. Control and contain myself! So hyped!!
@Ras
Sure is!

Nice to hear Beedle is in BotW! He's the odd but lovable entrepreneur, or maybe he's actually a stalker, we'll eventually find out.
I've been avoiding reading much at all about BotW so that the game can be mostly fresh to me, but I'm glad I clicked on this article. I'm just so impressed with how great they made Hyrule look this time, it's truly gorgeous. I'm so hyped to finally play this game.
The main enemies seem so technically advanced, making one wonder if they are simply guarding these ancient structures or are they something else. This time, they seem a bit alien to the environment, I dunno.
I mean, did anyone actually doubt that Beedle would be in this game? This game is mashing all the elements of previous games together.
Kind of off-topic - I guess I'll throw up a SPOILER WARNING here - but on the topic of Link's green tunic (that some people are mentioning here,) in Game Informer's interview with Miyamoto and Aonuma, they do say he CAN wear green. It's unclear if he's joking or not just due to the nature of the interview but I think he may have just confirmed the green tunic is in the game.
Tingle is pretty much in the game. There are a lot of characters making an appearance, in some way.
Clothing is like that one SMT that wasn't a #FE game.
And Cooking Mama.
