One developer that's had an outstanding year on the Switch is Saber Interactive. If the name doesn't ring a bell, it's the team that most recently ported across The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition to Nintendo's hybrid platform. It also helped out with Call of Cthulhu and Vampyr.
So what are the plans for the future? During an interview with GameReactor, Saber Interactive's Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits revealed the developer is currently creating new games for Switch but chose to remain tight-lipped about what exactly the projects are:
I can't announce anything right now, but we love the Switch platform, and we are creating some new games that will be on the Switch. I'm not going to announce them right now.
In addition to the above-mentioned titles, Saber has also worked on games like Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered and in previous years released both NBA Playgrounds entries on the hybrid system.
The Switch port of The Witcher 3 was the developer's most challenging project and was initially an absolute mess when the team began development. In the end, though, it was able to get it up and running.
What do you think these new games for Switch could be? Comment down below.

This probably sounds overly optimistic, but given their relationship with CD Rekt and how well the Witcher 3 port came out, I'd like to think one of those projects is Cyberpunk.
@link3710 As much as it would be great for Switch owners, Cyberpunk is looking like it will push PS4/Xbox to their absolute limit, never mind Switch. One major problem is the density of the world as with so much going on at once, there’d have to be some Superman 64 style ‘kryptonite fog’ for the game to be remotely playable. I’d love to be proven wrong but it would have to be an even more scaled back version than Witcher 3.
Not that it fits in with their resume but I'm still hopeful for Pikmin 1-3.
@nessisonett I don't disagree, especially since I took a look and saw the gameplay has a much higher density of people than the original trailers (surprisingly enough). But there's a significant chunk of the game that looks definitely adaptable, so I'm gonna wait and hope that the other parts are doable too. Even if they do have to cut the crowds in certain places, that's not exactly the end of the world.
Awesome!! I can’t wait for the announcements!
F1 port from codemasters
Would be nice for them to port something from Rockstar over to Switch, wether that be GTAV or RDR2, etc
Would love a Fallout 3 port - or better yet, a FO3 + NV combo...
Tomb Raider trilogy please 😊
Monster hunter world.
A year ago we didn’t even know the Witcher III was coming to Switch, and now it was my most played game of 2019. I can’t wait to see what 2020 brings!
Obviously it's a Taiwan-based horse racing game/visual novel, in which a faceless protagonist must fulfill the role of jockey while juggling the interests of several horse-girls that are definitely in love with said jockey but would never admit it to him, let alone themselves.
Halo trilogy
Ports or original IP? Either way, they do excellent work, and I can’t wait to see what else the bring.
@sixrings January 17th, 2020. Doug Bowser is wrapping up yet another packed Direct...
Bowser: Thanks again to our friends at Sega for an exclusive look at Shin Megami Tensei V, due out this Christmas. Well, look's like that's all the time we have for you today. Thanks so much for watching and we can't wait to see what you play nex-
Static fills the screen before a hard cut to black. A lone piano note - a high E - rings out as a military radio crackles to life.
"Permission to leave the station?"
"For what purpose, Master Chief?"
"...To give the Covenant their bomb back."
my wish list: GTA5 and San Andreas, RDR1, any of the Borderlands games, Arkham Batman games, NHL (unlikely but would love it),
Maybe Sabre could convince those douchebags at EA or Activision and port over an FPS of theirs?
Cooome ooooooon Mass Effect Trilogy!
@LunarFlame17 In that April fools "everything is coming to Switch" direct, with the Tinder logo and whatnot, Witcher 3 is actually shown. 🤣
@RandomDudeSTL i'd love it if FO3+ NV were to come to switch
@aznable Pocket Card Jockey 2?
We got Ori 1 and Cuphead from Microsoft; it’s time for Knack, Sony.
Hopefully, the Resident Evil Remakes.
Great news,bring on the ports. Seems like Saber really only ports over Western titles, would be cool to see GTA V, Fallout 3, Mass Effect trilogy or Dead Space trilogy playable on a hybrid system.
@Dman10 Borderlands Handsome Collection might come to Switch.
@link3710
Probably going to have to wait for Switch 2 for a Cyberpunk port.
We need some Call of Duty or Battlefield nonsense on Switch. Activision and EA, where is your trash?
Witcher 3 on Switch runs great! Whatever they port next will be welcome!
They have done some real magic on the switch! Thanks for the hard work. Cant wait to see what you are making.
I'd love a port of the bioshock trilogy.
I'd love a port of Resident Evil 7 and Hitman 2.
BIOSHOCK 123 PLEASE!
In addition to the mentioned games Above i would like to add MGS 5, Division 1 or 2 and splinter cell HD collection🤞🏻
Having completely missed out on the PS4/One systems for this generation I wouldn’t mind catching up with some of their greatest titles.
I'd take fable 2
Red Dead for me
Most likely some AAA port.
@RadioHedgeFund That IP is owned by Microsoft.
I would love it to be one of the following:
Make my wish come true 🤞😁
Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition for Switch!
SW Battlefront
Kingdom hearts
MH
@nessisonett
I agree, same thing with Ghost of Tsushima. I think I may hold out on playing both until the PS5 launches, since I’m still playing on my launch PS4, I’ve noticed poorer performance on some games.
@Ventilator
I wish Microsoft would make a new Fable. 😞
I’d take a Kingdoms of Amalur port though since it’s the closest thing Switch could get to a portable Fable.
@RandomDudeSTL
What, no FO76? 🤪
@MrCookieCrisps
I’d take Ratchet and Clank!
@Ninja84
Definitely Splinter Cell, but as much as I enjoyed the old ones, I’d only want Conviction and Blacklist. I still never finished Blacklist despite owning it on both my 360 and Wii U.
What I’d love to see, but am not holding out any hope for. In no particular order, and by any capable porting studio.
Dead Space Trilogy
Mass Effect Trilogy + Andromeda
Burnout Paradise, Criterion NFS games
Kingdoms of Amalur
Both Crystal Dynamics Tomb Raider trilogies
(Particularly Legend, Anniversary, & Underworld)
Both isometric Lara Croft games!! 🙏
Castlevania Lords of Shadow 1, 2, Mirror of Fate
All 4 Batman Arkham games
Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor/War
Shadow Tactics
X-Com 2
The Saboteur
FarCry 3 Classic Edition
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
Prince of Persia HD Trilogy
Ok, I’ll shut up because I would literally take everything on the Switch. 🤣
@Kang81 unfortunately the company who made the fable franchise no longer exist, they did have a new game in progress but couldn’t finish it.
@Kang81 It's rumoured that Playground's second team for a unknown RPG is making Fable 4.
Playground 1st team make Forza Horizon.
@Kang81 The Sabouteur were a wonderful game. I wish they made a sequel.
EA wished they had something big like Assassins Creed, so why didn't they evolve The Saboteur with a sequel?
A spectrum classics and Amiga classics collection please. Or pool paradise from the GCN...
@Kang81
You have spectacular taste in games! I'd probably (re)buy most of that list if ported (well) to the Switch!
@Kang81 i would so preorder Arkham Asylum/City, especially if Arkham City comes with the different batsuits so i can play as TAS Batman
@Kang81
Agreed, would live the newer ones and Double agent and Blacklist are awesome games👍🏻
@MrCookieCrisps Pocket Card Jockey 2 R - Remembrance: Or How I Fell in Love with a Horse at the End of the World Part. 3
@Kang81 Yeah, I was contemplating a Pro but it’s just too close to the PS5’s release. My base PS4 feels like it’s somewhat dying when I play RDR2 or VR games.
I’m very impressed by what they delivered with the The Witcher 3 port. Hope they get to port another classic.
Ssber Interactive has also worked on stuff related to Halo, Maps and the CE:A graphical overlay.
Honestly, I'm just surprised we got Witcher 3 and will get The Outer Worlds. The latter's sequel may be coming only to Xbox and PC, but I'm content with the first game. In any case, Switch has been a great console.
@Kang81
your list is impressive and partiality so reflective of mine, i want to add dishonored 1 and 2 (after the witcher 3 i am pretty sure it is possible to bring it with proper optimisation, and stealth game are never enough for switch ) if not those i really hope for the dead space trilogy but we now EA they are far too stupid to understand how much will sell it
@Smash_kirby
humm and there was that rumour about the halo collection ....
@aresius They also made Halo Online which runs off of the Halo 3 engine and they designed it to run off of lower hardware.
maybe Kingdom Hearts port but besides that cant think of any other third part game that could come to Switch that would make sense
Considering how amazing their Witcher port is I am eagerly looking forward to any of their future projects.
Nier Automata
Looking at their wiki page, the best outcome would be Master Chief Collection with cross-progression between all the versions. Also Master Chief coming to Smash.
Seems unrealistic though as Master Chief is the face of Xbox like Mario is the face of Nintendo. Microsoft's support so far on Switch has been introducing more people to less known franchises. But if it does happen then that completely opens the floodgates for opportunities.
I'm 35, and I've been gaming since I was 4. To me, the graphical leap between PS1 and 2 is obvious. Between PS2 and PS3 also obvious. But once PS3 and Xbox 360 arrived, the leap to PS4 and Xbox One while noticeable was not as gigantic as previous gens. What Im saying is that yes, graphics are important. But at what point does it not matter as much? Yes, I can tell the difference between 30 fps and 60 fps, but it's no dealbreaker. So when I read these comments (and Im mostly a lurker) saying Switch graphics are inferior to PS4, I just get kinda irritated. Because if the Switch is a step above the PS3 but a step below the PS4 in terms of graphical prowess, I have to ask: does it matter that these games are slightly less appealing than their PS4 counterparts? Think about it. Stop complaining and just appreciate that we've had near-lifelike visuals in videogames since the PS3 era.
@Link2284 Furthermore, DQ11 runs perfectly fine on my Switch, and that's regardless of whether or not the PS4 version looks better. I'm not a system hater. I love PS4, X, and Switch. A fun game is a fun game, and I'd gladly play any Switch port so long as it wasn't a severe diminishing of its PS4/X counterparts in the GAMEPLAY (not graphics) department. Ya know, some of us STILL play SNES games without second thought about the graphics. Lol
@link3710 Cyberpunk I feel is probably way too intensive
It's running on a completely iteration of the REDEngine and even though the world is meant to be smaller in size compared to TW3, the density and overall world geometry looks to have been increased substantially
@Morph Yes, even if it's RDR1 with dlc
Lol a porting company being put in a pedestal
@diwdiws
Yeah cause it's not as if their port of the witcher 3 is absolutely gobsmacking amazing and shows exactly what the NX is capable off, in the hands of the right people.
Nope not at all.
They are just a porting company.
Also the saying is put ON a pedestal.
"Straight Right" were the #1 porter for Wii U, but have done nothing on Switch. Their last port were Zombi to other systems, years ago.
@KitsuneNight aww little baby irritable?
@Ventilator Straight Right is just a different label of Tantalus though. They ported Rime, Sonic Mania and Cities Skylines to the Switch. They only use the Straight Right label for M-rated games, but they don't seem to be interested in those games at the moment. Maybe they'll use it in the future.
Batman Arkham Origins or any of the Trilogy. Ridiculously overdue.
I would love to have the entire Dark Souls trilogy on the go!
@DrkBndr They did help out on/port one non M-Rated game. Zelda TPP Remake. But yes, i know they were with Tantalus.
Too bad they don't port AAA games to Switch.
Off the top of my head for games that would most definitely work on Switch.
Borderlands
Bioshock
Mass Effect
Dragon Age
Dead Space
Metro
Rage
More Elder Scrolls
Fallout
Evil Within
Alan Wake
Dead Island
If I was to sit here and list every game franchise that I'd buy on Switch, I'd be here a week.
@link3710 isn’t cyberpunk a Xbox exclusive that isn’t out yet? Surely they’ll want it to stay exclusive for while... maybe a year from release?
Or am I thinking of a different game?
@Ventilator
Sadly, EA shut down the developer Pandemic after the Saboteur. I still haven’t forgiven EA for that. 😡
The game just oozed charm and I would have loved a sequel.
@Ventilator
That’s what I’ve been hearing. If so I just hope it’s good. I’m a little worried a developer known for making only racing games, as far as I know anyway, is possibly handling the franchise that made me buy the Xbox.
I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.
@CairiB
Yep, and I miss Lionhead Studios. Even though the Fable games were a bit janky and far from perfect, I adored the world of Albion and everything the devs put into it. Fable just had a charm unlike any other game I’ve played.
@Trialus
Well thank you! 😁
I have to have a variety otherwise I’d get bored.
@necrite13
I still love Asylum most in the series, but I also loved the extra playable characters and costumes. TAS outfits were the best.
@aresius
Thank you!
Funny, I originally had the Dishonored games in my list among others, it’s one of my favorite set of games. My list was getting so long I had to cut it off somewhere. Haha
@Alpha008 It's out on Xbox PS4, PC, and even Stadia in April so if they start a port now it might be out late next year, early the year after?
I'm going to say RDR and Borderlands
@Kang81 Playground Forza people is not making the new RPG.
They hired loads of people with RPG Experience to make this new game. People from Bioware and other RPG devs.
On top of that, Microsoft later bought Obsidian and InXile which both specialises in RPG and might help out.
Microsoft already have the developers and people to do it right.
@Kang81 EA do atleast have a developer capable of making a game like Saboteur 2.
Respawn which also seem to work on 2-3 games at a time.
Respawn deserved the Apex Legends success, so EA can't get rid of them now.
@Kang81 completely agree, they are very much responsible for getting me back into gaming after I had the kids! Fable, and Albion was amazing, although I never could bring myself to play as evil in Fable 3!
@CairiB
I still need to go back to Fable 3, but I stopped playing because I felt it was a big downgrade from Fable 2. I wasn’t a fan of pushing the timeline forward so far with each game, and I didn’t like what they did with the second half of Fable 3.
I still think that Fable The Lost Chapters is the best package of the original game. I couldn’t bring myself to continue playing the Fable remake, because it had performance issues and they somehow made the characters look worse. They were fugly in the remake.
