Sega Expectations: A brand-new Sonic Adventure game, SMT V out holiday 2020, dates for Persona 5 Scramble and Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Switch port of a mainline Persona.

Sega Reality: 25 minute deep-dive into Persona 5 Scramble, brief teaser for Sonic Forces II, and... that's it. Nada más.

Better not be. If it is, they've officially lost their minds.

Hope it's a weird-as-hell, fun-as-hell, multi-planet road trip which doubles as a hunt for the Chaos Emeralds by Sonic & Tails. (Knux too, of course.) A big-budget, Sega-blue-sky-perfect representation of the whole of the Mobius Galaxy, from Green Hill... Planet (?) to the mighty Death Egg. Badniks, echindas, blue spheres... you name it, I want it there.

First one, as good as it was, still felt kinda... safe. Almost like the execs were holding it back on purpose. This time around I hope Paramount gives them a stupid amount of cash and lets Fowler and Co. do whatever they like - as if anyone's earned the right to do so, it's them. Best cast scenario, it builds upon and outclasses the first one in a way not seen since Aliens way back when. Worst case scenario, it'll be the most entertaining train wreck in years. There's no way it winds up in between - and, either way, I'm there day 1.

The foundations are established. The audience is pumped. So Paramount, I have one simple request: Go. All. Out.

(And keep Collen Villard as Tails. Tom Holland need not apply.)

@NEStalgia Just makes the most sense to me. Yakuza 7 coming day to Series X, PSO 2 being Xbox exclusive in the west, both of them having an on-again-off-again relationship with Nintendo, Microsoft's dedication to the PC... it just makes WAY too much sense for me.

Then again, I do have an Xbox, soo... confirmation bias?

Probably one of their bigger upcoming projects. If it ain't that... um... Microsoft finally sealed the deal, I guess? They're the only tech mega-corp that knows what to do in gaming - and, crucially, the only one who knows how strong proper revivals can be for their brand.

If the latter's true, I hope they keep Sega multi-platform like they did with Minecraft - but I don't think they will because, well, they have a box to sell. Still, a Sonic developed with MS money sounds tempting - and, if they make it good, then the Blue Blur might finally be saved.

@Gryzor ...Y'know, that might work. It's a beloved series being revived by the best JRPG team in the world... Make it next-gen exclusive and it fits perfectly.

Good to hear that it's a good one. Now... isn't there a demo for this out there somewhere? Still not entirely sure about if I want it or not.

Expectation: Sonic Adventure III developed by the Yakuza team.

Reality: Sonic Forces II but even shorter and somehow even worse.

Eh... pass. Why buy pork when you can just Google it for the low low price of "free?"

Expectation: Monolith is remaking FF6 with full support from Square Enix and Nintendo.

Reality: New Xenoblade Chronicles (probably X2) and maybe some assistance with BOTW 2.

Pass. Solid lineup, but I don't support Amazon (who own Twitch) and REFUSE to sit through 7 hours of visual novels, pervy fighting games and weird JRPGs all just for one Sonic trailer, a Yakuza 7 date and maybe a Persona 5 port.

Ooh, wasn't expecting this! And Toby Fox working on it too? Something tells me more Mother is on the way... possibly sooner rather than later.

Meanwhile, New Vegas is just sitting there... waiting...

It better. I may have a 1TB SD, but I'd like to keep some space open for other games if at all possible.

Meh. Xenoblade can still tide them over through June and July is by no means too late. Health comes first, people... Health comes first.

(Plus, June might just be too close to the PS5/Series X info dumps apparently happening in May for any Nintendo news to get traction.)
