At the end of last month, the company Hobonichi Shinbun (owned by Mother series' creator Shigesato Itoi) launched the 'Hobonichi Mother Project' - promising "various contents and goods" before the end of 2020.
Now, in the latest update, the Pollyanna tribute comic has been revealed. According to a translation on the EarthBound subreddit, the comic and illustrations in it were handled by 35 manga artists and writers. One of the individuals who worked on it is Toby Fox (Undertale). Here's a look:
The comic (including a bonus sticker sheet) will be available for ¥2,640 on 11th June from the Hobonichi store. It will go on sale at other retailers within Japan on 25th June. One last thing worth pointing out is how the trailer says "to be continued" at the end - meaning more Mother-related announcements can be expected.

Everybody settle down. We're not getting Mother 3. There's no way a conservative company (business-wise, not politically) like Nintendo wants to deal with the cultural fallout that would come publishing the game nowadays.

As much as I'd love to see the whole trilogy on Switch, I can't help but wonder if by now it'd be better for Nintendo to keep us talking about it rather than actually releasing it. 😅

I felt a leap of excitement in my heart for just a moment...only to be disappointed. Still, this is cool and I'm sure Mother and manga fans are getting ready to find ways to import.
That said, I hope Mother 3 gets the crap pirated out of it.

I would love them to remake Earthbound with an art design like that last illustration.
Ooh, wasn't expecting this! And Toby Fox working on it too? Something tells me more Mother is on the way... possibly sooner rather than later.
If the do remake them, I want the censored version, since that's the one everyone grew up on.
@graysoncharles The people you call snowflakes aren't the only people I was thinking of. Those who bandy about that term are no less guilty of creating an environment that Nintendo undoubtedly wants no part of. If you want games like Mother 3, stop reacting like a snowflake whose feelings have been irreparably hurt when you see localization.

What did they put in the game that wouldn’t go over well today? Is it small enough that it could be patched out?
@GetShulked It’s weird, I’ve seen more people saying that people will get offended over the Magypsies than I have actually seen people offended. They’re basically like Japanese stereotypes of crossdressers and it’s kinda played for laughs but it’s not exactly insidious and honestly, they play a crucial role in the story and if they localise it right, it could be spun as a positive role for gender-nonconforming people. There’s been similar content yet way more controversial like Catherine, and that’s been localised twice. Of course, there’s also the whole bit where Lucas is high off his nut, that might cause issues with age ratings.
I love EarthBound and it'd be awesome if they released the trilogy on Switch so I can play EarthBound Beginnings and everyone can finally play Mother 3. I doubt they'd re-release/remake them though. If they did remake them I'd love it if the art style was similar to the Link's Awakening remake.
@GetShulked Look up the Magypsies. They play a pretty major part and wouldn't be patched out. I'm not sure if they would necessarily spell disaster, but Nintendo would have to approach them very, VERY carefully, no matter what they decided to do with them.

Toby Fox is making MOTHER 4.
This was surely the 1st thing he brought up when he met Nintendo for his work on Smash, Little Town Hero, etc.
This would also explain why DELTARUNE is taking ages.

Really nice to have something new and official for Mother series. Ever since Itoi said there would no sequels, it's kind of an one-way ticket to disappointment to hope for new games.
At this point, I'm glad for anything new Itoi approved. I hope the comic makes its way overseas.

I'd love for this to be translated. I'd pick it up! I've played the first two games and enjoyed my time with them...but I did use a guide for Beginnings/Mother. XD
We may get a Mother/Earthbound trilogy for switch. We never thought we would get Secret of Mana 2 in the West. We got it and a remake as well.
It'll be interesting to see if any of this leaves Japan, because if it doesn't, then you could plausibly get a port of Mother 3 much like the GBA port, alongside maybe a port of the first two games. Not sure if that's what'll end up happening, but it'll be interesting to see.
