Re: Rumour Buster: Has GameStop Just Revealed The 'New Nintendo Switch'? Probably Not

AlexOlney

This is a really common error in English, we know to capitalise proper nouns such as 'Nintendo Switch' and because 'new' in this instance is categorised as part of the compound noun it's very easy for us to disconnect from that exception and capitalise parts that shouldn't be capitalised.

Plus with all the rhetoric surrounding the 'New Nintendo Switch' or whatever it's likely to be called, our smoothbrains are primed to treat it as a complete proper noun rather than a compound noun even out of context, leading to the same error.

@Octoguy "A bit of creativity can allow you to combine objects in certain instances, but beyond the Fancy Objects — which include the likes of Aliens, Golf Balls, and Yetis — the only Basic Objects in the game are a box, a cylinder, and a sphere."

It's still there, which is good, and it's still a bit of a headache, which is bad.

People love to complain about modern gaming compared to the days of old, and when it comes to things like microtransactions, on-disc DLC, paywalls, it's understandable.

But look at examples like this, a game roughly a quarter of the price of a 'full' RRP release that not only offers a wealth of content that's beautifully refined, but it consistently getting updated with new features and content for free.

Stardew Valley is a paragon of pro-consumer attitudes, it's no wonder it's such a commercial and critical success.
