Re: Video: Relive The Thrill Of The Arcade With The Most Bonkers Nintendo Switch Stand Yet

@the_shpydar If you bothered to watch the video you'd know that my view of it isn't 'ZOMGS U HAV 2 BY IT!!!', rather it's a supremely niche bit of kit that might not be worth the money. Yes, we use affiliate links for those that want to support us, but there's nothing stopping you from totally circumventing that system and buying it without supporting the site if you so wish.

Re: Fake Nintendo Switch Game Piracy Software Is Bricking Systems

@djfuts Piracy is something worth covering as it affects the entire market and industry.

GBA Temp is a source rich in talented individuals who understand system hardware and software better than most, it is a perfectly reputable and reliable source for such matters.

We have sources at Nintendo who provide us information on a regular basis, which we report on.

And yes, the wording is absolutely correct and acceptable in the text you quoted. Your comment on the other hand needed a bit of tidying up to say the least.

@djfuts Quoting a source is literally one of the oldest and most common journalistic practices in history. It provides context and unadulterated clarity.

Reporting on something is not active promotion or recommendation; are outlets that report on traffic collisions promoting driving dangerously? Of course they're sodding not.

The grammar in that quote is perfectly valid, unlike yours.

Re: Officially-Licensed GameCube Controllers Are On The Way For Switch

AlexOlney

There's something just a little bit off about these, and I'm not sure who they're trying to appeal to.

Hardcore Smash GameCube controller madcap ultra player masters will want nothing except the original mould and maybe some extra buttons for functionality, and the option to have the controller wired and possibly wireless.

Casual players probably couldn't give a monkey's about the GC controller.

This is sort of straddling between a new controller and the GC controller; it doesn't fit into either camp.

Re: A Cheaper, Customisable 'Nintendo Switch 2nd Set' Has Launched In Japan Without A Dock

AlexOlney

Decent idea, if only they were able to sell it for less than that.

Obviously they have their own overheads and the console part itself is the priciest part of the whole thing (probably followed closely by the Joy-Con), but if you really wanted to save cash you could always just buy the normal set and sell the excess stuff you don't want online. That's not an option for everyone I know, but seeing as the discount is fairly meagre, there doesn't seem a huge amount of point in offering it at all.
