Rainbow Road is just what it should be, a marathon. Big N64 vibes from its length, but it also incorporating so many different themes, ideas, and callbacks to previous RRs. Glorious stuff.
@Kyloctopus I can confirm that it's only the magnets (and clever design) holding the Joy-Con to the console, no latch, no locking mechanism of any kind.
The developer is very open, almost boastful of the fact that they take existing ideas rather than coming up with new ones, and now they're bitter that people are comparing their game to an existing franchise.
@anoyonmus Because The Witcher III was an incredibly important port for the Switch, cementing it as a true success in the eyes of third parties, and a system worth porting their games to.
Moreover, there's nothing to say it won't come to Switch 2, and given the previously mentioned importance, it could well do down the line.
@nocdaes Standards have categorically not dropped everywhere, or it wouldn't be the success it is. The Switch has the largest library of frankly incredible first party games, a staggering amount of third party support (for better or for worse), and despite drift being a continual thorn in everyone's side, the build quality of its pro controller especially is excellent.
Analogue isn't 'doing Nintendo's job', they're targeting an entirely different market, and creating a bespoke product for a tremendously narrow application, and for a substantial price tag.
I love Analogue's work, but comparing Nintendo's emulation on a 4W tablet from 2017 to a single-purpose boutique FPGA console is like getting annoyed that your oven can't grill as well as a BBQ.
Could they do more? Almost certainly, but 99% of their audience simply don't even notice. It would be ideal if everything ran perfectly without a single issue, but we live in the real world, where things go wrong.
I have a Splatoon 2 Pro Controller that I've had since it was released, and have amassed thousands of hours of gameplay with it. It's been through hell and back, and apart from the frequent external and occasional internal cleaning, it's continued to do its job flawlessly.
I've had cheaper pads start to wear out after only dozens of hours. Some people may not like to admit it, but the Switch Pro controller is a seriously robust bit of kit, provided you don't abuse it.
@FantasiaWHT Because humans are imperfect in their efforts, and even then when one artist blatantly copies another and they are caught, it immediately diminishes their art's value.
People adore inspiring others, but they don't adore others stealing their work. An AI can't be inspired, it can only steal.
I think they'd be bonkers to skip DLC for this, but if that's the way they want to go, it's better than them feeling obligated and pushing out something half-baked.

@sanderev The name of anything is determined by the masses. Whether it's logical or otherwise, people call this style of video game a roguelite.
