@NoTinderLife And despite all that, with some of your claims sounding dubious at best, its selling like hot cakes and I play it more than either the PS4 or Xbone, which I also own.
oh and one tiny detail...its portable unlike any of the others.
I think these additions are great to the Switch library, both for gaming and historical value. How many more times will we see these games re-released in the future? I could be wrong, but it may not be much.
Yeah, it’s as if they got hacked, but are keeping it quiet. I agree, they all need to be better with this though. I can’t believe how often it’s happened to me. What a hassle.
This isn't a Nintendo issue, this is a global issue. Ive had hackers try to break in to my PayPal, Apple ID, Bank accounts, emails and even my stock account. They all had my info but two factor authorization stopped them cold. It has saved me tens of thousands of dollars, literally. For god's sake, in the US, the folks that keep track of your credit report were hacked and I don't have any direct business with them at all. Who you choose to do business with means little, crooks will be crooks and even the most secure business can be hacked. Its how we choose to protect ourselves that makes the difference and this is a must.
I've backed 35 Kickstarters, all but one have worked out exactly as expected. And the one that didn't work out, the all in one controller that was featured on this site, is still coming, but definitely fill the bill of a bad kickstarter given that they're two years behind schedule. There have been delays in others as well, but overall, I find it works out the vast majority of the time. For every poor story you hear, they're probably hundreds you don't hear about as they went smoothly. I've backed books, hardware, software and documentaries. And I have never lost a dime on a product that wasn't delivered or from a group that just disappeared.
A 2nd display? Would they really do a clamshell switch?!
I'd love to see the Switch be able to turn into a tablet the way the Wii U did, so you can use both at once in a single game. Its very handy for submenus, maps, etc... This is why, IMO, Mario Maker on the Wii U was better than on the Switch, Lego City as well, and even the Zelda reboots benefited from this. You could even play coop in COD on the Wii U, with one person on the TV and another on the tablet, both online.
My bet is its a 2nd screen via the Switch acting like the Wii U.
Never heard of it back then...will not be picking it up now. I think you definitely need the nostalgia on this one, it looks unimpressive to say the least.
They're about to launch a brand new console so its perfectly normal for him to speak this way. I don't really see anything here that's controversial or unexpected. He's paid to help sell Xboxs and making it clear that Xbox games go on that console is part of that. He clearly sees some sort of confusion that would potentially take away from the new consoles launch if some in the market think Xbox games are coming to the Switch.
I own all 3 consoles and the Xbox and the Switch are what I play most. I'd love to see a combo of the two, but it is not in the cards and I doubt it ever will be.
Definitely. Its absolutely shocking customer service. No one treats a customer this way. I never saw the product, it was never in my mailbox, why am I going out of my way to get a refund? No one operates this way but them. Honestly, I'm glad they refunded me nearly $500 in pre purchases, as there's no way I would give them a dime more of my money. You have to have self respect.
Good decision. I was totally shocked at how poor and uncaring their customer service is. In this day and age, to treat a long time paying customer without even an ounce of effort is ridiculous. They truly do not care about anything BUT their profits. They simply made a very poor decision.
**Pay attention to my very poor customer service story from LRG**
I ordered a game, it was never delivered even though the post office said it was, and they refused to issue a refund or send me a new game. They basically told me they would not do anything about it and this is despite having over $400 worth of pre-orders outstanding with them at the time. So I went to my credit card to claim it as fraud and out of spite they cancelled all my preorders, took out a 10% fee for it and have banned me from ordering again. Not that I EVER would. So if they lose your order and the post office said it was delivered...you are out of luck. In order for me to get a refund, and this is their official policy, you need to file a police report or get the US mail to say its lost. You have 30 days to do this. In LA, the LAPD refused to file a police report for lost mail of that amount and said just get a refund. They are not wasting their time on a ridiculous claim. The US Post Office takes up to a year to say a product was lost. So LRG effectively prevents themselves from ever having to issue a refund or a replacement, by issuing a 30 day limit, which in essence puts the burden of shipment on the customer rather than on themselves. They choose to use the post office, they send it to me, someone loses it...but I am held responsible? I have yet to touch or see the product, but now I'm supposed to file police reports and mail theft reports? THIS IS CALLED PUTTING UP BARRIERS TO AVOID REFUNDS.
So again...why ever order from them? If a long time customer who had $400-$500 on preorder gets treated that way, everyone else will. They offer the absolute worst customer service I've ever seen. I have never had anyone else ever suggest that their lost package is my problem. Not Amazon, where's its happened a dozen times over the past decade, not Ebay, where I've had multiple packages lost and not Etsy, where the same thing occurred. Everyone single one of these merchants apologized and sent me a new item immediately, LRG? They could care less about its customers and you really find that out once there's an issue.
The Dark Crystal for me. I loved the movie as a kid growing up in the 80s and absolutely fell in love with it again when the Netflix series came out. I hope this game does the franchise justice.
@Atariboy Yeah, I get the exact same impression on the new VCS. It looks like they don't know what market to target, and I'm not really sure who the product is targeting. I had higher hopes than this and currently have no plans on getting it.
Thanks for those links, I will definitely check them out! I appreciate it!
@Atariboy Whoa! I had no idea you could upgrade it, thanks for that info. I will look into it, but I must say I’m impressed with it as is. That’s cool you still have an original and with a trinitron to boot. You’re dedicated!
What do you think of the new console/pc they’re putting out?
@Atariboy I see you like Atari, so do I. Have you tried the Retron 77, the 2600 console they put out? I got it about six months ago and I love it. Considering how cheap Atari cartridges are and that it works with every single controller Atari put out rather than buying an original 2600, I went that route and don’t regret it. I owned a 2600 when I was very young, which is why I have an affinity for them to this day.
I still have a GameCube with HD component cables and the Gameboy player, which puts every GB game in color, so I doubt I’ll splurge. But it’s nice to see more options out there.
There's an easy setting. I'll be honest I've yet to put it down to easy as this game is a throw back to that 16-bit era, where things were much tougher than today. Still very enjoyable!
I backed this on Kickstarter and have been playing it for about a week. The review is right on but the difficulty isn't that crazy...its exactly what you'd expect from that era and is going to be perfect for those who opted for the Sega MD/Genesis version. All retro gamers will find it just fine, those who aren't from that era may find it difficult. If you love 16 bit shooters, especially twin stick, you will not be disappointed. Great retro game!
The exclusion of the SNES Aladdin is baffling. I played that game to death and beat it countless times. It wasn’t too hard and looked great. I don’t understand this omission.
It was a fun but largely forgettable experience when it came out. I would not double dip, but depending on the price, it could be a descent FPS experience for the Switch for newcomers.
The two best selling Nintendo games on Switch, outside of Mariokart which is evergreen, are Odyssey and Breath of the Wild. Both brand new entries. BoTW sold the Switch to a large audience out the gate and helped start its success. So I think you’re way off here, new entries are selling well and even brand new franchises like Astral Chain have sold very well from what I’ve gathered. I’d also argue that for many, this Zelda is brand new. I’m 43 and never played the original. So it’s new to me.
I just started it over the weekend and it is sublime. After playing through BoTW at launch, putting 250 hours into it, it’s a nice throwback to play an old school Zelda, complete with all the old school charm that originally dominated that franchise. I have to remind myself every night to go to sleep as I could keep playing it on and on, sleep be damned.
I’m playing them right now on the Wii (via the WiiU)...it’s a Halloween time tradition! I’m using wiimotes and the Nyko gun. Glad to see they’re getting more love on the Switch.
Awesome! Ill wait for the 30th anniversary blue ray...I’m sure they’ll stick some additional stuff in it that the regular blue ray doesn’t have. Already own it on DVD.
Exactly right, he added to the appeal I'm sure! But he always looked like a tool to me, given his douchy attitude in the movie, but that glove was oh so sweet and he did look cool using it. This and ROB are my two favorite NES era accessories. They reek of what was seen as cool in the 1980s.

Sounds great except this:
During one boss fight, we almost thought the game had entered a stylised slow-motion state, such was the extent of the frame rate hit.
I hope it gets fixed because it may only be one boss, but that sounds terrible to me. This isn't the 80s and I'm not playing on an NES.
