Re: Review: Ni no Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch - Level-5's RPG Classic Will Bewitch Your Switch

This game was great on the PS3 and undoubtedly will be great on the Switch. I watched my wife play through the entire game AND quite a bit of the post game stuff and she absolutely adored it. I watched her play so much I pretty much know the entire game myself! My wife is not a hard core gamer, but does love JRPGs and RPGs in general, so if they're your cup of tea, you will love this game. Lets remember if was spoken about as a GoTY candidate when it came out.

I would disagree. I remember the era very well and the reason Space Harrier has been released over and over again across multiple platforms 30 years after its release is because it was considered immense at the time. If it was considered mediocre at its release date, you wouldn’t see it being rereleased so often decade after decade.

Mediocre? Give me a break with this review. And who wants to play a nerfed version of this game? No one. Yet this review acts as if it’s a good thing and even dismissed those who have reasons too.

Some of your reviews for classic games are becoming way off the mark recently. This is another one. So this is mediocre, Atari is crap...it be better if you paired reviewers with games and eras they actually enjoy. Your Atari collection review was beyond questionable.

And as an FYI, This game’s sequel on PSVR is super intense. If you have the Sega Genesis Collection on PS4, I’d highly recommend it. It’s very very cool in VR.

Re: Talking Point: Are Retro Repro Firms Exploiting Demand With Shoddy Products?

I own the SF II, Super R Type and Double Dragon special editions and ALL WORK GREAT. I’ve played them on both an original SNES and the new Analogue SNES, and have no complaints. My favorite are the Super R Type and Double Dragon one as they look very good and feature games that are hard to find. I’ve played those two a bunch of times. SNES doesn’t feel hot, nothing seems off, but I do tend to play them mostly on the Analogue SNES.

You have to remember that the US is filled with lawyers and every product imaginable, as a result, has some sort of warning on it to avoid a lawsuit. The state I live in, California, was even going to mandate labels on coffee claiming it causes cancer, but a lawsuit and a bit of logic stopped it at the last minute. But I still see these warning labels of this product could do this, that or the other across most things I buy. Even the grocery store in CA has a warning before you walk in saying products sold here are known to cause cancer to the State of California.

Poor labels, shoddy craftsmanship and crap quality are one thing and that’s utter nonsense...but warning labels claiming fires, cancer, death, etc...on routinely safe products? We should use a little logic before freaking out, as to when something is labeled out of fear of being sued by sue happy lawyers and when something is truly dangerous.

Re: Nintendo's Digital Sales See A Whopping Year-On-Year Jump

I much prefer physical. You can resell it on EBay and you will always have it on cartridge, which you cannot say with digital. Once your hard drive goes and the switch online eshop is turned off...let me know how you’ll be downloading them. Imagine if the NES era had been digital...certain games would be gone forever unless you dig around for ROMS online. I’ll add, the argument that it takes too long to change cartridges is an argument that makes no sense at all. That whole 30 seconds is worth giving up resale ($$ in your pocket) and the great likelihood of eventually no longer being able to download your purchase? Poor trade off.

Ha! It’s so true. As you say, you can get a retro system and games, if you don’t care much for condition, for much less than a new system or game. It’s one of the cheapest ways to game and it’s not like something like the NES breaks down either. I still go further and collect Atari 2600 games (mostly dirt cheap, even cheaper than NES) as well. I’m glad all this retro stuff exists.

No worries, I learned something today about the size of Japan. Now I know its just slightly smaller than California. I agree with you on PING...I play SF Collection with Switch friends, some all over the globe, and unless they are in the US, the lag on that game is so bad its unplayable. We have to be in the same continent to have it play well. Hopefully they find a way to overcome all theses issues in the long run, as the dream is now out in the open and we want it to work...we just know it won't currently. God bless them for trying though!

If thats accurate (I didn't check), fair enough, but we have 50 states to worry about and then the entire mainland as a whole. And many are not top technology states such as Idaho, Mississippi, Alabama, etc...You get my point. I live in LA, CA and I've been to West Virginia where I could not find 1) a single WIFI spot and 2) 3G anything. My iPhone stopped being able to send any data, as there was no way to hook up to a stream that handled data. WV look to be stuck in the mid 1970s to mid 1980s and many other states are the same.

I agree. Hopefully it can happen at some point, but the other part of this is battery life. And that goes for all gadgets, as when streaming and then viewing high fidelity and high definition media, my batteries, no matter the device, drain way too quickly to truly be something I could depend on long term. Even with the Switch, I played Doom while traveling last year and it plays great, but the battery life is quite small and that's without any streaming involved. I actually chose to stop playing Doom so I would have more juice left over for other games and settled on The Messenger (great game) as it drained the battery much less, letting me enjoy true long playing gaming sessions. But Messenger is 8/16 bit....imagine trying to play RDR2.

Re: Phil Spencer Comments On The Possibility Of Xbox Game Pass Coming To Nintendo Switch

I cannot imagine an average phone playing top of the line games via streaming, and actually having the battery last more than 1 hour. Further, for say traveling where WIFI is usually suspect, I doubt I’ll be able to play Red Dead 2 streaming’s at the free WiFi in any airport. Or hotel.

To me, this is still a pipe dream outside of using a switch, as streaming and battery limitations will make your android gaming session last an hour at best. With switch you can download the games or play straight out the cartridge. That saves energy on streaming and lets you enjoy longer game sessions.
