Famitsu's Japanese chart figures are now in for 2nd - 8th December, revealing that Pokémon Sword and Shield is once again sitting right at the very top of the charts.
The two titles sold an estimated 201,838 physical copies this week, pushing the lifetime total up to an impressive 2.22 million. Pokémon wasn't the only success for Nintendo this week, though, as the entire top ten is made up exclusively of Switch games. Phwoar.

What are the chances of Switch getting to 11m by the end of the year in Japan?
It was only a matter of time until an all Switch top ten. What's especially impressive is that eight of the titles are Switch exclusive too. Special mention to Ring Fit Adventure which is putting up crazy good numbers.
Nice to see Nintendo dominate in their homeland.
Fabulous, has that ever happened before for any platform? Incredible sales, PS4 and Pro have seen a nice boost too! Amazing at this point in their life.
Ring Fit Adventure still in the top. Should really consider DLC or a sequel for that game now. B)
@Krull Looks like it’s close to 99% to me.
@Krull with only 380k to go, I'd be REALLY surprised if it doesn't reach 11M...
@Krull It's a given. Next 3 weeks will be well over 200k each
It feels like old times again. Thanks big N for being you.
Anyone else remember when the Switch was dead on arrival?
@JamesR Oh yeah, the lack of power was going to bury it from the get go.
Everyone had a jump this week, even the Xbox broke into triple digits...
@JamesR
Same with the DS.
The machine was ridiculed and then out of nowhere, it destroyed all comers.
@WiltonRoots
That's nothing new that's been the tune about Nintendo hardware for nearly 20 years now.
I like to trot out the fact that the PS2 was the weakest of its hardware generation
And that didn't stop it from becoming a phenomenal success.
@Patron What is wrong with you, seriously? Seek help.
@Patron
What a miserable life it must be to be a troll
@Krull very high
@Patron Some folks seem to think this is a joke troll or satire account. But even those are moderately amusing. This isn’t. It’s just the same boring shtick. Today’s didn’t even meet the normal threshold.
@SquareOneMJ It doesnt happen often as there is usually one straggler from another platform. Even at the height of Wii and DS there was always a Wii or DS game also on there...rarely all Wii or all DS
Nintendo is Godzilla and the rest of the competition are Tokyo residents.
Comprehensive.
I didn't know that the Vita was still being sold. I thought it had been discontinued a while back.
@kevin74 over 5million Vita sold in it's lifetime in Japan alone, I don't think that's too bad.
@Patron I'm going to guess you have no evidence for that.
Well, Japan is officially Nintendo land until the PS5 arrives.
@Patron What was "derided" about Fire Emblem: Three Houses? Did I miss something while playing the game?
@Patron I can tell you are clearly a troll, but listen to what I say. If you do not stop with these types of comments, you will be banned. If you want to prove you are not a troll, stop posting these types of comments.
This is your chance. Take my advice and you can stay here. Ignore my advice and you'll be banned.
@Krull Likely if you count Lite's sales.
Go Go Switch!!!
@JamesR lol so unique that you said that. I'm no console fanboy but stop saying this. Someone says this everytime it's just annoying. Hate spreads more hate
Nintendo Switch now owns Japan and soon China too.
Some wondered why there was no major Nintendo release for December 2019. Here's our answer.
Such is the Power of Nintendo!
@retro_player_22 ill be very surprised if the switch takes off in China. The market is much different.
@Patron Looks like a "Mole" was ratted out.
For the charts to be Nintendo that a job well done beyond Amazing.
I see all those Pokemon fans hate the new game so much that they feel they have to buy it.
The Xbox One S and X sold less than 500 products combined?
Domination!
@JamesR Doooom! Nintendoooomed! Seriously, all of those wonderful analysts were telling Nintendo to pack it in. Would love to see them eating crow now.
Once again, Sword/Shield sold retail more in its 4th week than X/Y or Sun/Moon. Retail + digital sales are well above 3 million copies.
Switch sales are down YoY since Smash Bros Ultimate launched during this week last year.
@westman98 Is that including Switch Lite?
@AnnoyingFrenzy
Yes.
Switch sold 278,000 this week last year thanks to Smash Bros Ultimate's launch.
@Matthew010 Finally. Thanks!
@westman98 Neat, nice info.
Pokemon will beat Mario kart by end of year, then we'll see if it has legs to challenge smash. Doubt it will happen, but will see.
Could Nintendo have a Mario kart 9 in the works?
Maro Kart 9 wouldn't put past them.
Pokemon Sword/Shield sold 630,000 digital copies at launch in Japan. I wonder if it has surpassed 1 million digital copies sold at this point? It must be close.
With digital results like this, retail-only numbers are starting to lose relevance by the day. It was only 3 years ago when Sun/Moon released and sold well below 100,000 digital copies lifetime.
@Cosats He's a troll. I ignored him because I don't have time to read hate comments directed at one game only.

2. 64,045
3. 51,143
4. 52,240

@Tyranexx did not expect to see gif of Cristine the holo queen in nintendolife comment section, bravo!
