Re: Parent Trap: Nintendo Switch Takes on Tablets

-Juice-

It's not meant to compete with tablets. It's not trying to function like them. It's selling itself to gamers who like the idea of convenience. Being able to play your game wherever, whenever, is a an improvement to the life of the modern day gamer.

Kids are only a small fraction of the consumer base that this console is trying to sell itself to. This is essentially trying to be the ultimate gamer console, having a bit of everything.

Re: Pokémon Remains Committed To Handhelds, States Game Freak's Junichi Masuda

-Juice-

@GrayMoon77 That would make NX a dedicated home console, which is unlikely when compared to the overwhelming amount of rumors suggesting that it's a handheld that also works as a home console. It also wouldn't make sense to replace the Wii U before replacing the 3DS since the 3DS is older and its visuals are extremely aged, but it makes perfect sense to replace them both at the same time.

Re: Pokémon Remains Committed To Handhelds, States Game Freak's Junichi Masuda

-Juice-

Riiiiight, because a multiplayer home console game couldn't possibly enforce communication between players to a more effective degree! It makes more sense to insist that players each buy their own system and go on a separated journey, than to create a home console experience where both players go on the same journey and then fight each other to determine who gets to battle the Champion.

Seriously, a local multiplayer Pokemon game would achieve this vision better. Just don't skimp out on the story and structure. It needs to feel like a main series Pokemon game.

Re: Random: We Explore What the NES Classic Edition Will Fit Inside, in the Name of Science

-Juice-

@DarthNocturnal OBJECTION!

If the NES Mini is in fact a miniature NES, then it would naturally fit inside an NES no matter what, rendering any test obsolete because the answer is clear! The prosecution requests that the defense stop trying to send the court on a pointless goose chase. It's time to wrap this up. Deliver the verdict now your honor, before the court gets caught up in this bluff.

Re: CoroCoro Scans Reveal More Pokémon Sun And Moon Evolutions

-Juice-

@DragonEleven Don't be such a contrarian. They call it an evolution. It uses the same exact Japanese word.

The same rules apply because it's still a Pokemon. It's a chimera, yes, but that doesn't mean it isn't bound by the same rules. If it were an Ultra Beast I'd give you some leniency, but it isn't. It's a legit Pokemon.

"Null’s head is a piece of equipment designed to control its latent powers." Sounds like it can't control itself until evolving to me. In fact, it seems to imply that Type: Null need to find a trainer it can trust in order get itself under control and evolve. Not to mention that it actually has a separate name for its evolution. Form changes and Mega Evolutions don't get a full name change.

Re: CoroCoro Scans Reveal More Pokémon Sun And Moon Evolutions

-Juice-

@DragonEleven It's a science experiment Pokemon. That's the whole reason why it's called "Type: Null". Evolution in Pokemon was always about metamorphosis. The contraption on Type: Null's head is meant to keep it from destroying itself and everything around it. It's like a cocoon that contains its power before evolving. There is a physical and chemical change that happens when Type: Null evolves. It becomes stable, so it no longer needs the contraption on its head. What was inside the mechanism and what you see on the outside when it evolves were probably two different things.

Its feathers/fur also mature upon evolution. You can see that the pre-evolution has a grey coat, while the evolved form has a white coat, indicating that it has indeed matured. Evolution in Pokemon is maturing through metamorphosis That's pretty much what we see here.

Re: Editorial: Rediscovering the Gems of the Wii U Library

I have a feeling Horizon Zero Dawn will be my favorite game from this generation, the PS4 has given me a lot more to be happy about than the Wii U has. It's so sad that Nintendo no longer makes innovative games with depth and sight behind them. I really wish I could have a game from them in my top ten each year. TLoZ: BotW seems to be the only game from them lately that's doing everything they SHOULD be doing.

They need to take mechanics that the competition does, improve upon those mechanics and make them work in the world you introduce them to, then add your own new mechanics that increase immersion and add depth (rather than to be gimmicky, which is where Nintendo has started to head and I hate it).

Re: Editorial: Rediscovering the Gems of the Wii U Library

I didn't like Super Mario 3D World because it was basically "New" Super Mario Bros with 3D levels.

The reason Super Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy are loved is because of the fantastic 3D level design, and the almost open-world feel to the main hubs and the worlds you go to.

Re: Apparent amiibo Release Date for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Leaked Online

-Juice-

@rjejr Just because one tweet ended up being false in the end, it doesn't mean this one will too. Also, I suspect that NoA also made tweets announcing the delays of said titles, meaning that they also made correct tweets.

Delays happen, so of course the corresponding tweets would be incorrect. On the other hand though, I see no reason for the tweet regarding the simultaneous release of BotW To end up being a lie.

Re: Random: Disgruntled Young Pokémon GO Fan Makes Satirical Game About Playing in the Suburbs

-Juice-

People who don't realize that this is a legitimate concern are selfish idiots who are happy as long as THEY benefit from where they live, and don't care about the situation of the majority of other people in small towns and beyond.

Stop beings jerks, there are legitimately a lot of towns without spawn rates, going into the city for gyms and Pokestops makes sense, but not for just catching Pokemon.

The whole premise of Pokemon as a concept was to give kids the opportunity to catch bugs in virtual nature because the creator painfully watched as the forests he loved were replaced by industrialization and it all evolved from there. Pokemon GO deviates too far from that. Its target audience now has the ability to travel and explore nature in the real world, yet the spawn rates are kept to high traffic places? That spits in the face of the original anti-overindustrialization concept that Pokemon was born from!

Re: Italian Bishop Likens Pokémon GO To Nazism, Claims It Turns Players Into "Walking Dead"

-Juice-

@cfgk24 That's not entirely accurate. People are the worst controller of people throughout history. It's illogical and simple-minded to try to blame such a big problem on very specific groups of various types of personalities. As I've said before, every type of person is present in every belief (or lack thereof). Whether it's a church or a communistic regime, most of the time it's only the self righteous, delusional, narcissistic, unusually psychologically violent compared to the rest of the population, or a mix of all of those that are drawn to high positions. It's part of their personality to crave that type of power. Due to their questionable personality traits, they always end up using whatever organization they slither their way up to do their bidding, and they do it with any and all organizations. Even without religion we've seen this happen to large groups of people whose main goal started out noble but fell by the wayside because their leadership fell weak to the allure of power. Not to mention that what you believe is a choice all your own.

Re: Italian Bishop Likens Pokémon GO To Nazism, Claims It Turns Players Into "Walking Dead"

-Juice-

@Nintendo_Thumb 76 generations of man. If man evolved from an ape hominid variant, at what point would we consider it self-aware enough to be at the peak of its evolution, or primitive enough to be considered merely an "animal"? I personally propose that humans were only considered humans once we reached sentience, and that genesis as a whole is told from a misconstrued human perspective. What we were before wasn't sentient enough to be differentiated from beasts. It took us becoming fully sentient and self-aware (advanced communication skills and writing) to be considered by God as a being molded in his image, because he is also sentient.

Re: Italian Bishop Likens Pokémon GO To Nazism, Claims It Turns Players Into "Walking Dead"

Every group, be it religious or not, has its share of extremists. Some people are too blinded by their own bias towards what they view as an "opposing" group, and they hurt the image of the group they're trying to represent. I've known many awesome Atheists, Agnostics, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, what have you. Then I've met a self-righteous sub category from each group as well. In all honesty, if everyone became either an Atheist, a Christian, a Buddhist, or whatever else, it wouldn't stop the fighting or the bickering between humans and it certainly wouldn't stop wars. These people aren't a result of a belief system, but rather a result of human psychology itself. They're often narcissistic, somewhat more aggressive than the average person, and can't handle anyone having an idea separate from their own. All of the constant flame wars you see between "atheists" and the "religious"? They're generally the same type of people, and they have more in common than they'll ever want to admit.

@CrazedCavalier I'm actually an Athiest that became a Christian. XD
But hey, whatever we end up believing in the end, always remember that the world is a mysterious chaotic place that we still have much to learn about and that you can't afford to get mad at someone for having different beliefs. You can debate, and debating is a wonderful thing, but always remember that you're one individual out of several, and that people are still people no matter what they believe. We're all the same animal species, practically a family (a dysfunctional one but a family nonetheless).

Re: Italian Bishop Likens Pokémon GO To Nazism, Claims It Turns Players Into "Walking Dead"

@Yorumi I'll consider this in my future research, but I'm still not 100% that your point is factually correct. It's too black and white, and I've lived long enough to know that both the Bible and Science aren't black and white. The only thing that's black and white are idealists, and I'm too analytical to be looking at the world from an either or perspective. That betrays what science is to me. To me, it's about exploring all possibilities without bias, and eliminating what can be eliminated, but still having a broader view. To trap yourself into viewing the world from a narrow minded perspective is a hindrance to science. To do so is to give up your right to be a scientist, and instead condemn yourself into unnecessary cynicism. Mind that I'm not talking about you, just in general. I have deeply enjoyed this discussion though. Thank you.

Re: Italian Bishop Likens Pokémon GO To Nazism, Claims It Turns Players Into "Walking Dead"

-Juice-

@Yorumi How would you explain the intricacies of evolution and progression from the big bang itself to primitive people who lack the capability to fully grasp those concepts, which would require centuries of research from them? Whose to say that they'd understand if you showed them, and what would stop them from writing down an incorrect or super oversimplified interpretation of how things began? The Bible itself has always been man's perspective, which is hardly a complete perspective at all. I personally think both beliefs are extremely compatible, you just have to get past human error and misconception.

Those are just my beliefs though.

Re: French Mayor Says "Non" To Pokémon GO

-Juice-

If you want to get rid of pokestops and gyms, then all you have to do is send a request to Niantic you political bafoons who clearly don't know how to research. Then again, that's up to the businesses. Who says that THEY don't like the advantages it brings?

Re: New Pokémon and Antagonists, Team Skull, Revealed for Pokémon Sun and Moon

-Juice-

@Dislikesfats You're thinking of these as "forms" in the sense of previous Pokemon changes like Shaymin and Giratina. These aren't like that at all.

Y'see, they're not really forms at all. They're what we call "subspecies". You see, in the animal kingdom sometimes you'll have a species (like say... a specific type of bird), but there are also offshoots of that species that are adapted towards different environments because of pangea (for example: the same type of bird is found on another continent, but eats a different type of food and has a different type of beak). This means that species like Alolan Vulpix are subspecies of another Pokemon in another region (normal Vulpix). Alolan Vulpix, for example, was forced deep into the cold mountains to survive due to severe competition for resources down bellow, this caused the Vulpix that went up there to gradually adapt to that climate generation after generation until they became the present day Alolan Vulpix. To get a normal Vulpix in Alola, you'll of course have to import it from another region, because normal Vulpix isn't native to Alola.

@Lugia You do realize "good" and "bad" designs are extremely subjective? Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that the design might not appeal to others. I don't like Koala's, so I'm not too keen on a certain Pokemon. That doesn't mean that I can't accept that it's probably a good design to people who love that kind of animal. Respect the opinion's of others and don't belittle them by acting as if something's wrong with them for liking what they like.

Re: Take-Two Interactive CEO is a Believer in Nintendo and the NX

-Juice-

How many of you on this site actually buy consoles/PCs and play games from 3rd party devs not developing for a Nintendo system at this point in time? A lot of you literally have no idea what you're talking about.

Why should he put his money where his mouth is? It's Nintendo's job to make an appealing console, so that 3rd party devs KNOW that the audience on that console is big enough that they can risk developing for yet ANOTHER system. He's not at fault at all, in fact he's just saying that he's going to keep an open mind about supporting the NX. If he sees potential and success then they're going to go for it.

There are some great 3rd party groups out of there, and his is one of them. I can't tell you enough how much I love Borderlands. It's up to Nintendo to step up their marketing campaign when they released the NX and have some amazing games already releasing on it that'll grab the attention of everyone. That means no gimmicks, because gimmicks alienate people.

Re: Weirdness: Now You Can Even Find More "Pokémon" In The Dictionary

-Juice-

I think some of you have forgotten that a game doesn't need to become complex. Sometimes simple games are the best and in all honesty I prefer the simplicity of Pokemon GO.

It's easy to get into, and because of that it's easy to share with EVERYONE in the world, not just gamers who have an advanced understanding of controls, stats, and UI layouts.

Re: Pokémon GO To Arrive In Japan Tomorrow Along With McDonald's Gym Sponsorship

@freaksloan They've already released a patch to fix a few issues, and most of the "broken" things about it are minor. OoT had glitches galore (some very game breaking) and nobody complains. I even got stuck in a wall in Twilight Princess for crying out loud.

People in other countries should be able to play the game before Niantic works hard on a bug patch, which they're also probably working on along side this. They've done nothing but work hard and they've even gave us news and heads up on things several times in advance. Don't be so entitled.
