@nhSnork I don’t get how you people feel safe buying games digitally from Nintendo. I can only feel safe about doing that from Steam. With Nintendo you could end up never being able to play it again. With Steam the games I buy will always be available to me. Even games no longer for sale on their store can be downloaded. I can take my account anywhere, and I don’t have to call to have an account transfer if something goes wrong with my system and I have to buy a new one.
@Serpenterror I do not buy digital aside from Steam. The way I see it, all of my Nintendo purchases for the near future will be physical unless they make their account system more consumer friendly.
Uhh, Monster Hunter and Pokemon Legends Arceus have both done “Open Zone” gameplay. Also your gameplay is exactly what it looks like: slow, shallow, and with boring music to boot.
@HamatoYoshi challenge gives games meaning. If there is no difficulty, then there is no reason to play. At that point it is just a movie that tells you to push buttons.
@deafdood These are better than most of the recent starter designs. They have fuller body shapes like the ones of old. The only one that seems off is the bird.
@nessisonett I would rather have games that I know will not be a waste of money. Besides, I find myself going back to classics now more than watching "new" things in this age. Better design philosophies and more charm back then. I know I can always play Ocarina of Time and enjoy it. The same cannot be said of entries like Skyward Sword.
@Zuljaras Not everyone will sellout for a price. The holy martyrs in the first century didn’t. Look at people like St. Bartholomew who had their skin peeled off, yet still refused to recant to the point that they chopped his head off. Look at St. Peter who went to be crucified and told them to do it upside down. Look at St. Ignatius of Antioch who would rather be torn apart by animals than recant. Those who sellout are without discipline and virtue.
Eh, Rise is so easy that it wouldn’t take long to get right back to High Rank. It’s the shortest Monster Hunter game I’ve played, definitely shorter than base World with all updates.
As for the separate issue being raised in the comment section:
Just apply nuance people. There are a lot of cops that do a good job. There are others that do not. Sometimes specific cities have a large concentration of poorly trained officers. In other cities those fringes are virtually non-existent. Officers who do objective wrong should have consequences. Officers who do not mean to do wrong and a slip up occurs should be shown mercy. Ones who always do their best should be honored.
What you ought not ever do is engage in calumny or assume the guilt of a person without substantial evidence, and no what you see on the media is not substantial. They get their paycheck from sensationalism and political pot stirring.
The closer the world gets to falling into political manipulation, the more they see their fellow man as inhuman. Secularism has done a great job at throwing the virtues of compassion and forgiveness out the window.
@Savino It definitely is not the worst. Even then, most of the flaws that would make it hard to play have been fixed.
@BloodNinja I disagree. Ocarina if Time is timeless. I played it for the first time back in 2013, the gameplay is solid and it was almost second nature to play, unlike ALTTP which took more time for me to get into. I think you are confusing the homogenization of the gaming industry and the “across the board” techniques developers use with progress.
That Twitter user is slightly erroneous, listing the GB and DS families like that. GB, GBC, GBA are all different generations, same with the DS and 3DS families. They are not simple revisions like the PS4 and PS4 Pro, or the DS and DSi.
@Deviant-Dork I’m trying to have a decent dialogue . I will answer your point, all I’m asking is that you answer my question. You don’t want to though, because you know the logical and scholarly implications that would come from the answers you could reasonably give.
@Deviant-Dork Do you believe Alexander the Great existed?
Also, note that you are bringing up two separate points of discussion. We are discussing whether Yeshua bar Joseph existed, not whether he is God (or even the existence of God). If you wish to discuss whether there is a God or not, I am of course happy to, but please stop merging the two different points of contention. Your objection was against the historicity of the man named Yeshua, not the existence of God or whether Christ was God incarnate.
@Deviant-Dork So virtually every scholar is wrong? The burden of proof is on you, because scholars have consistently shown and affirmed that Jesus was a real person. Note, this is a separate question compared to whether he was divine or not. This is simply about whether the man named Yeshua was crucified.
I would recommend Bart Erhman if you want a secular scholarly perspective.
As for your earlier remarks of Josephus, he was a historian, and the crucifixion of Jesus was a recent event that had historical staying power. What concerns me is that you do not apply the same criteria you have for Jesus to The Roman emperors, the Canaanites, and many other historical figures who have LESS accounts of their deeds in the same time period. Many of them do not have accounts until centuries later.
@Deviant-Dork I have done much historical and theological research. Most historians would hardly entertain your claims, especially with the attitude you have. We have even less documentation on individuals like Julius Caesar, yet we know that they had existed. What I see is a bias and an unwillingness to be open to scholarly consensus in an effort to dominate others through name calling and using negative word framing. Regardless, peace to you all the same. I hope that you will be more open to scholarly voices rather than listening to conspiracy theories.
I will say that I would be more than happy to check out any scholarly sources you have on the matter.
@Deviant-Dork What do you mean? If you are talking about Jesus, historical documents from the Jewish/Roman historian Josephus have made it pretty clear that Jesus did in fact live. Furthermore it would be illogical for one to die for a lie (being flayed alive, boiled, beheaded, crucified upside down). The apostles seemed to truly believe in what they taught, because they willingly died horrible deaths and endured immense torture.
Furthermore, there was no wealth to be had, and most of them lived in poverty. Compare that to the lavish lives many of them lived before meeting this Jesus of Nazareth. The consensus among historians, even agnostic/atheists like Bart Ehrman, is that Jesus was at the very least a real person who was crucified.
Applying what we then know of the people who knew him and followed those who knew him in the first century, it is pretty clear that they at least believed they had seen him afterwards. To also paraphrase C.S. Lewis from Mere Christianity, he has to either be a lunatic, a liar, or lord. There are no other reasonable options.
I would encourage further scholarly research into this topic, rather than relying on whatever catchy atheist/Christian catch phrases and quips you will find on the internet. I say this as someone who once took a position like yours on the subject.
@Ghost_of_Hasashi I already know about these differences. TPC is owned jointly by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures Inc. it was formed specifically because Game Freak was ill-equipped to deal with the booming merchandise scene.
I simply included them because of how muddy the waters get when it comes to the dealings within TPC, especially since these leakers were connected more to the game aspect of company info rather than the larger brand product endeavors.
Im going to take an unpopular stance it seems. I think that Game Freak, by hiding and blatantly lying in regards to certain information, owes the public a form of reparation. I also do not think that the amount of damages done by these people is anywhere close to the money being demanded, nor do I think they can reasonably pay such fines without losing everything. Such measures seem outright spiteful, perhaps because they acted as whistleblowers. This did not happen to such a degree and with such viciousness to past leakers.
As Christ himself said “I desire mercy, not sacrifice” and “blessed are the merciful, for they will be show mercy”. This is not to say the courts do not have the authority to rule in favor of Game Freak/TPC, or that damage was not done. This is simply to say that The Pokémon Company looks incredibly greedy in this instance.
I see no good done here, only different levels of evil.
@HollowSpectre Let’s GO! was better than XY, SuMo, and SwSh. ORAS and USUM are the best of the 3DS games. Everything went downhill after BW+B2W2. Gen V was so good and it seemed like such a promising direction for the series too. Too bad people complained and boycotted them just because you had to use new Pokémon until the postgame.
You should do what I’m doing. I’m going to stop at BDSP and LA, because one of those will have the same quality as the old games making it a great go-to HD legacy title for all my Pokémon needs, and the other is essentially what that would have looked like of reimagined. Best place to stop.
@CBordo Duh. That’s because errors should have consequences. For example, you cart three times in Monster Hunter? Start the quest all over, and that’s 30 min down the drain. It was your fault for dying, and now you’ll observe and improve. That way, you can actually be proud of your accomplishment.
Sure would be nice if Nintendo provided a legal way to obtain these classics. Like maybe some sort of “virtual” medium that could bring these titles to their current “console”.
Wasn’t there a rumor of Nintendo letting someone make a Zelda series around two years ago, but then they pulled the plug as soon as news of that leaked?
Made it seem like Nintendo reacts to the digital age like a wild animal reacts to something unknown: they run away rather than trying to understand things. Which, to be fair, is how they deal with most other things lol.
@Shiro28 Reminds me of the recent interview where Capcom decided to make REVIII less “scary” because people found REVII “too scary”. Like, it’s a horror series, it’s meant to be like that. Casuals ruin franchises.
I think they were trying to cover their bases. The predictions were made for the sake of preparing for even the improbable. They are a business after all.
@Shiro28 I’m at the very least with you there on hot and cold drinks. I was wondering why they hadn’t come up during my play though of rise yet. I just figured they were coming in new areas. That stinks.
@Mr-Fuggles777 It’s different in Japan. Zelda doesn’t do as well there, but Monster Hunter and Pokémon bring in the big bucks, because everyone there plays them.
@NotPoliticallyCorrecc I don’t. I’ve been playing since Tri, and every change so far has only gutted the time wasting parts, while the hunts are just as solid as ever. Basically, they took a game about non-stop big boss battles, and made them more non-stop. Paint bombs were great in concept, but annoying in execution.
@6ch6ris6 I think remakes are wonderful if done faithfully like OoT 3D.
Personally, I want the Switch to have as many legacy titles as possible. I’m tired of constantly frivolously buying games and consoles, so I’ve decided that it’s time to stop at a console with classics that I can play again and again.
