Re: Talking Point: Cloud Gaming On Switch – The Pros And Cons Of The Cloud

tovare

I had to turn on assist to play this, so I would have preferred motion controls or pre-tuned tuned gameplay for joy-con controls. But Iḿ impressed, worked better than Stadia and the Nvidia service on my old Shield tablet. Iḿ not sold on this, but the quality was good enough that I got unlimited access for this game.

Re: Nintendo's Request To Dismiss Joy-Con Drift Lawsuit Gets Rejected

I fixed mine using a can of air under the soft rubber part of the joy-con. The sad part of this story is that I initially purchased a replacement part for the joy-con and swapped out without fixing the problem. I also got a second pair before finding out that it was dust under the soft rubber causing the issue, and I needed a real can of compressed air and not just blowing with my mouth to fix it.

Re: Cities: Skylines - A SimCity Successor That Struggles To Shine On Switch

@b0nes You can easily tell that it´s below 30fps when you have had a decent size city and of forgot to build health-services and then pan around. You also notice pop-ins of trees when you pan around fast. But it´s a fantastic game for the switch, and it´s the best sim out there of this kind. I hope to see more strategy games from this company in the future

I´ve played 30+ hours in this game, and it´s great. I have never played the original, but this simulation is just incredible.

The frame rate isn´t action-game smooth, but it´s not an action game it´s a complex simulation and it´s very playable at all times.

(I would have liked clearer guides and angles to really, the 5-step line is really thin in portable mode)

@Ahlvin23 Press X in a scene to and change scene settings to set the beat to 7/8, you can also use an individual tempo for the scene.

Recordings one slider at a time is smooth with twisting the joy-con, (the analog joystick is a bit fast).

I think the switch-version works pretty well on the TV considering the controls that are available when docked.

It´s a fun creative game I think, but professionals might be happier with one of the other versions and some additional MIDI hardware.

I have used this for a few hours and found it quite fun. A lot of features aren´t immediately apparent.

I would rather they went in a direction where they provided a simple forum for sharing or upload to SoundCloud, rather than professional workflow support with midi.

Re: Review: Sine Mora EX (Switch)

I´m just getting into this game..It´s a bit hard to get into because a lot of things are happening at the same time making it hard to memorize and you need to re-start at the beginning of the stage.

Re: You'll Be Able To Sacrifice Resolution For Frame Rate In Fire Emblem Warriors On Switch

tovare

@Indielink Well the game designers could have just settled for 60 fps and changed automatically to a higher resolution in-game where that makes sense. In PC games it´s all settings, and although you can sometimes guess that higher it´s better ... it´s also crap because you never know if the game is any good at those settings. I just want to pick up the controller and play the game

Re: Editorial: Losing It All - When a Wii U's External Hard Drive Dies

Not that bad is it ?

I had to start Tom Clancy´s ghost recon from the beginning this weekend, it appears one of the kids deleted my save. No problems though, it´s a nice game and I didn´t even remember that I should just make it to the door in the opening sequence

It´s allready happened a few times with Ridge Racer, the reset is right on the starting screen ... considering the amount of grinding required to get through the entire game ... that option should have been not that easy to press.

Re: Pokémon Company President Doesn't Think We'll See Mainline Games On Smartphones

tovare

I totally see the point. I have "The world ends with you" on both mobile and 3DS and even though the graphics and controls work great on my Iphone (Most mobile games fail at the controls part) it´s lacking in some areas, such as the stylus takes less screen real estate than my thumb and the battery life is worse when gaming, but I think the root cause of me not really getting into mobile games is more complex than that. Maybe it´s the context ... that I´m drawn into multitask-mode when using my phone and not so much on the 3DS (I´m not checking email, feedly, snapchat, gitter, slack, twitter, youtube and feedly on that)

Re: Talking Point: What Approach Should Nintendo Take With Its NX Reveal?

tovare

In 2004, announcing the Nintendo DS. Satura Iwata talked about working on a new system, a revolution in gaming ... it was launched late 2006.

The NX seems different in it´s approach. We might be getting a nearly indestructible 6" 720p tablet with gaming controls and which will work great for gaming. In fact people might still be buying 3DS´s after the announcement. On the other hand, they´ve seen the self-generated hype of the internet, and just not seen the need to tease or make any claims at all.

Re: Feature: Exploring the Licensed Content in RCMADIAX Games on the Wii U and New 3DS eShop

tovare

I think purchased assets will become the industry norm, if it isn´t already and only some assets will go through an entire design process, the rest will just be customized for the game.

In movies you can buy software which gives you a huge crowd of people.

Huge parts of the music industry uses licensed samples, beats and instruments via hardware or software packages.

I think this division of labor, lowers the threshold and gives more people the ability to create ... and people who do things from scratch, building their own electronic instruments still exists ... so it doesn´t take away anything, there´s just more of everything.

Re: Poll: NX and Mobile Make This a Defining Year for Nintendo - Are You Optimistic?

tovare

The Wii reaction was like " Nintendo Renamed Its 'Revolution' Console What?! " ... the DS launch reaction was "Mediocre Launch Library" (ArsTechnica), same with the 3DS launch and then the Wii U launch.

The NX launch will hopefully be something "What were they thinking ?!" ... "Nintendo should just make games for other consoles" ... a couple of years after release, it will dawn on everyone that its the most awesome gaming thing ever made.
