Re: Nikkei Report Suggests That Wii U Production Will End in 2016

I don´t see the problem. I got the Game Boy Advance SP (2003), missed out on the first generation of DS one year later (2004) and got the updated and much improved DSi years later (2008). If the NX is somewhat experimental it might be worthwhile to keep using existing systems until you really want something new. If the original slides are correct the NX isn´t a direct replacement for either the Wii U or 3DS, and if they run out of stock they will probably make a trimmed down version, like they did with the Wii. (You still can buy a brand new wii-system if you like).

Re: Review: Star Ghost (Wii U eShop)

There are some risk/reward elements such as saving up or adding firepower to the ship. With enough cash on hand, you get an extra life which is handy. Later in the game you need to position the angle of your shoot better to make it through.

This game is overrated, considering that the excellent high-score challenge Star Soldier-R on wiiware only got a 7. https://www.nintendolife.com/games/wiiware/star_soldier_r

According to the scoring-policy this game should have been a 6 - Not bad. It is a bit lazy, with no online high-scores, no sharing images to MiiWares, They could have had alternate buttons for thrust, considering so many games on the Wii U has thrust elsewhere.

I do think it´s worth spending a couple of hours on this game though and it worth picking up for a challenge.

Score 6 - Not bad

The Gameboy Advance SP is probably the best portable console ever made. You could use it in the dark and in bright sunlight, it was small enough to take it everywhere. The battery lasted a really long time.

Re: Review: Star Ghost (Wii U eShop)

It's a bit simplistic. I'm surprised it isn't an iPad game since the controls fit, but a lot of cool stuff on iPad is ruined by the free to play business model so getting it on the Wii U is nice.

Re: Poll: The Tricky Issue of Retail Games as Download-Only Releases

tovare

There´s currently a bit more flexibility in having physical copies of games, but I only notice it on the 3DS where we have two in the family in addition to a DS. Some releases are physical by nature, like Disney Infinity but having to listento disc-noise while playing is not that great ... an option to install would have been great.

For the most part games are consumable entertainment, like movies and music.

Re: Nintendo Download: 27th August (Europe)

I was't aware that there would be a disney infinity 3.0 download, it's much more convenient than swapping discs.

Hope they make it a free download eventually. You need toys to play anyway.

Re: Say Hello To Star Fox's NES-Based Forerunner, NesGlider

Thought i won Starglider in a Zzap64 drawing competition, but it was a misprint announcing that the 50 runners up got a copy of the game ... I did get a small toy plane to fly with in the mail though. Thankfully it got a crappy review in the same issue (No. 24 1987).

Re: Watch Dogs Wii U Release Dates Confirmed

I don't understand why everyone is so negative (I'll happily play a 20 year old game if it's awesome ... and most of you would also do it!) and Watch Dogs, I think it will be the best version of them all in terms of gameplay due to the gamepad.

Re: Watch Dogs Wii U Release Dates Confirmed

I'll get this one! November 18 is fine, that's a month after Bayonetta 2. I might get Sonic Boom also, if it's sort of like Sonic Adventure. But these are 3 very different games for different moods.

Re: Resident Evil Revelations 2 Confirmed By Capcom, Skipping Nintendo Systems

no problem, this will just be a rehash. if the gameplay and story was strong enough, it would have made it to 3ds at least. The sales cycle of xbox,pc and ps is very short, publishers need to pump out games at a rapid rate because the sales are gone in a couple of months when the hype is dead. Nintendo can charge full retail years after release, although it is nice to see the occational discount and the 20-30 year old VC titles are much cheaper than the original inflation-adjusted RRP and often epresents amazing value for money
