This was a fantastic interview. It feels very candid, like you just found him at the pub having a pint and just sat down with him. It also does a great job pointing out just how insane the videogame industry can be. Employees getting stuck with mortgages they didn't know they even had a long with no job? Just insane.

To me, a good side quest changes the way the player engages with and views the characters and their world. I think this is one of the reasons people love the Souls games so much

Tell that to the F-Zero fanbase. Nintendo has been hesitant to make a sequel specifically BECAUSE they don't want to release just "more of the same." At least that's what Miyamoto has gone on record saying. If they can't innovate on something, they don't understand why they would release more of it.

Two upcoming games that deserve mention are Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes and Freedom Planet 2. We should be receiving both this year.

Honestly as long as the characterization keeps heading in the direction Ian Flynn has set it in, I'll be happy. I'd love some IDW characters though

@Vexx234 I've actually seen that take quite a lot lately! I enjoy it quite a bit but others found that it really drags in the second half until it completely falls apart at the end. Honestly going on for just a little too long feels like a Tales of staple at this point 😂

Hot take, Tales of Symphonia is one of the more mediocre entries in the series, with most games after it being better.

@EaglyTheKawaiiShika It's fairly divisive among the fanbase, with some saying it's too different and doesn't have enough of what made them love the other entries in the series so they just couldn't get into it. The ones who do love it though REALLY love it and often say it's the best of the bunch because of how personally the story resonates with them. Just depends on what you like about the series honestly

Amazing game. My personal favorite of the series and just really special overall. The way your choices effect things this time around is seriously impressive especially compared to other entries in the series

@Wexter I absolutely adore Bloodborne and it's Old Hunters DLC. I pretty much completely agree with all your points. Honestly I'm very excited for Armored Core VI and hope a break from the Souls formula does them some good

@SonOfDracula You sure you're not blindly following? Because you come across pretty blind to me. I've stated multiple times that I never said and do not believe the dev studio itself is lazy. Looking at something objectively means to acknowledge it's strengths and flaws no matter how small. Put down your pitchfork and actually read 😂

I mean, people who blindly follow a franchise are the most dangerous and leads to stagnation. Just look at Pokémon lol (Not that FromSoft is anywhere close to that bad)

And yeah, believe it or not, not everyone found the game to be a flawless experience and looked at the game objectively

@SonOfDracula Once again, I'm not calling the team lazy. And once again I'm stating that Elden Ring is a very good game. This isn't a personal attack on anyone and there's no reason for you to be so offended lol. However, certain aspects that I've already stated could have used more attention and do bring the game down a bit for some people. I think it's always best to acknowledge flaws in order for the industry to learn and grow.

What is ignorant however, is pretending that having four of the six endings have the exact same short animation but with a different lighting effect and narration ISN'T lazy. Elden Ring is a good game but it's ignorant to ignore it's faults and areas it could improve upon just because the general public views it as a masterpiece. Criticism isn't inherently bad.

@EaglyTheKawaiiShika I mean, glitched quest lines, bugs, poor balancing in character builds, reused bosses, lazy copy pasted endings and worse boss design than the last 3 Souls games? It was good for what it was but I wouldn't call it the best. It definitely deserved to be nominated in all it's categories though

The voice work for everyone except Mario seems really great honestly. Jack Black as Bowser is just a treat, the penguins were fun and silly, Toad and Kamek both fit very well. Chris Pratt as Mario just isn't bringing anything to the character and seems to be phoning it in. Can't wait for a patented Seth Rogan laugh to come out of Donkey Kong 😂

I would love to see Meguro spread his wings a bit more and tackle more varied projects like this. The composer has some pretty incredible range and could do a lot with more resources. Considering the OSTs for Digital Devil Saga, SMT Nocturne, Catherine, and Strange Journey, there is much more to him than his influence on the Persona series

@nessisonett A lot of people know the risk when jumping into an entry that isn't Sky. It's just that not everyone has the time, means, or money to jump into several other games before getting to the one they're interested in. The fact that the English localized entries are spread out over different consoles doesn't make it easier either. Trails is intimidating for newcomers and a duology with little baggage is much more appealing than a trilogy or quadrilogy

Starting here whether it's recommended or not. I don't own a PC and even if I did, I wouldn't commit to three 50-70 hour RPGs before finally playing this one.

Oddly paced and presented. So many farming games near each other. Too much time spent on Pikmin Bloom. Not enough time spent on Pikmin 4 or Zelda. Just a bit odd

I'm really excited for this game as I loved the first but I probably won't buy this on day one. Ubisoft games just go on sale WAY too soon after launch. That plus the DLC means we'll be better off waiting for a bundle sale in December or January

Reads like an 8 or even 9/10 until you get to visual performance. Shame

@CorePrideX I think they meant the more objective aspects like quality of life improvements to navigation, HUD, UI, tutorials, quest tracking, and visual performance. Obviously things like story, characters, and gameplay are going to be subjective. Everyone prefers either 1 or 2 for different reasons
