Re: Starlink: Battle For Atlas Starter Packages In The US Are Missing Game Cards And Cases

tabris95

My guess is that it has to to with how they handled review copies. All the review copies mailed out to different review sites and YouTubers included the starter pack with the game case and card removed presumably because they were later sent download codes. They must have done this to more shipments than they thought or maybe even mixed up batches and sent them to retailers.

Re: Talking Point: Do We Still Need Review Scores?

tabris95

Reviews are meant to be as objective as possible while the consumers opinions on a game are entirely subjective with a wide variety of caveats. A good review is meant to educate the consumer so that they can take their own personal tastes and preferences into account. Yooka Laylee is a perfect example of a game that could be very enjoyable given certain tastes and yet a much more mediocre experience without such tastes. A lot of people saw the metacritic score, dismissed it as a "Bad" game and left it at that. But reading several reviews of 6 or even 5, you can still tell that there is a lot to be enjoyed for fans of Banjo-Kazooie.

Re: A Free Demo Of WarioWare Gold Is Available To Download Right Now

All right guys, to everyone saying drop the 3DS and support the Switch, do you really think that's not what they're going to eventually do? I think that in a year and a half, we'll see a handheld only Switch Mini. It will be a smaller, cheaper to make Switch, similar to the Slim line variants of other consoles. It will have emphasis on portability and be capable of playing all Switch games in portable mode. This will allow them to target the budget family gamer at $179.99. If there really is going to be a successor to the 3DS, it'll be this.

Re: Zelda: Breath of the Wild And Super Mario Odyssey Win Big At BAFTA Games Awards

tabris95

Phew, OK. So many things to comment. First off, woooooo! Night In The Woods won a BAFTA!! Very happy with how well Hellblade did. It deserves all the praise and recognition it can get, which is apparently a lot. Also, just a little miffed that Xenoblade 2 didn't qualify for this as it surely deserved at least a nomination for best music. And finally I just find it funny that they have a category for best British game.

@kyleforrester87 Wow. Welcome aboard Kyle! Never thought I'd see you here lol.
Hmm. I say physical. It's a bigger release and will take up more storage if you go digitally. Plus it's got lovely box art that will look nice in a collection! As for me, I'm a sucker for hundred page, hardbound art books so I got the Special Edition while it was on sale

Re: Shin Megami Tensei V is Coming to the Nintendo Switch

tabris95

@retro_player_22 @Menchi187 Guy's let's play the wait and see game on this one. Persona and SMT have different things to offer to different people. It's all personal taste. That being said, Apocalypse shows that they're definitely experimenting with making the main series appeal a bit more towards Persona fans so this should be interesting to see what they do with V. Just enjoy it

Re: Shin Megami Tensei V is Coming to the Nintendo Switch

This is fantastic news since it confirms that the mainline SMT series is still doing well and supporting Nintendo. It's also worth noting that this is the first time we'll be able to play a main entry in the series on home console since SMT Nocturne on PS2 all the way back in 2003! If this is indeed exclusive for Switch, I'm worried that they'll be missing an opportunity to intrigue the Persona fan base that they've grown after Persona 5.
Speaking of which, if anyone is interested in getting into the series, there are other options besides the obvious SMT IV. Apocalypse, although a direct sequel, has a bit more of a Persona tone to it and fixes a lot of problems with the original and does a good enough job filling in first time players of the original's story.
Devil Survivor Overclocked on 3DS, although technically a SRPG, does a great job introducing the main series mechanics like Demon Fusion, moral choices, and multiple routes based on your alignment, while blending the darker and more urgent tone of SMT with a group of friends you will get to know and trust (or not trust)
And finally, if you have a PS3 lying around, there's always the Digital Devil Saga on PSN. This forgoes Demon Fusion for a more traditional JRPG take on the series with a great story, cast of characters, and one of the strongest versions of the combat system to date! If anyone is interested in getting into this series and has any questions, please let me know. I'd be happy to help.

Re: "Rental Avatar" Feature Shown Off in New Sonic Forces Footage

tabris95

@Kingrat That is all true and I think Sonic Team has the same thought as you but the sonic formula takes a lot more than that short checklist to make it work. Modern Sonic, especially lately, is extremely stop and go, which breaks the flow of the game. Why are there so many 2D sections in a modern style Sonic game? The physics aren't designed around it so it's essentially just Classic style gameplay done worse. Why is there such a strong focus on combat and taking out lines of enemies? This is executed much better in the two Freedom Planet games because again, their game is actually designed around these aspects while Sonic is not. Sonic is about momentum, light platforming, and light level exploration to discover secrets and the quickest and most rewarding routes. It is not about rings, badnicks, speed boosters, and loops.

Re: NicoNico Launches on the Switch in Japan This Week

@SDF Of course your solutions are fine for those that want to spend the money on additional items. My points are made solely for people who already own or only have enough money for a Switch and could be getting more value out of it with these services. And sure a tablet would be fine for these things but then it wouldn't be playing Switch games would it? So why not a Switch that can do both and save me the money?

Re: NicoNico Launches on the Switch in Japan This Week

For those of you who prefer your Switch for games and say everything else can be done on smartphones:
1. The Switch screen is larger than a smartphone display and is more in line with a tablet's.
2. Built in kickstand in the back for easy viewing. (I hate trying to hold or prop up my phone when I want to watch something and eat at the same time)
3. By using the Switch instead, you won't have to worry as much about draining your phone battery, allowing you to multitask while streaming much more easily.
4. Lastly, for parents this means you now have a portable device your children can use to watch YouTube videos, Disney movies, and other kid friendly shows with that can either be watched on a TV or separated, allowing adults to use the main TV similarly to the Wii U
