Re: A 'Pro' Switch With More Power Might Not Even Be Fully Utilised, Says Industry Veteran

PS4 Pro/PS5/OneX/SeriesX see improvements in frame rates, graphics and resolution because the games are mostly PC ports running on a higher quality mode than the PS4 and OneS.

I’m not saying the developers don’t have to do work, but they do do less work than really digging into the systems and getting the very best out of each one.

With a more powerful switch, their would be automatic improvements just because of the RAM or CPU. That doesn’t mean the developer will get every bit they can out of it.

Re: Feature: No Anime Please, We're Westerners - When Anime Was Taboo In Western Games

No way, jose. I have a dark embarrassing secret: there once was a time I was into anime. Circa 80’s to early 90’s in the US. Anime/Manga style artwork was always scrubbed (pretty much as a rule) from covers and marketing material. Americanized artwork (generally poor due to budget) was the white wash prescription of the time. The juxtaposition was quite obvious since this mostly applied to Japanese video games, manga and anime.

To make you feel better, the Switch collection with the Space Invaders game you actually want to play (Space Invaders: Invincible Collection) was about 5,200 yen (if you could get a copy...physical only exclusive) when it was available for a month. You can still get the $250 version that comes with stickers and some other crap that no normal person wants. To say that Taito has been going out of their way to annoy me is an understatement.

Re: Hell Yes! DOOM And DOOM II Just Got Another Add-On, And It's Out Today

@COVIDberry

John Carmack released the source code to the public just a week short of 23 years ago. Before that, they more than supported fanmade levels, level editors and full-on mods for Doom: they motivated them. Doom II's appeal has always been more about 3rd party maps than the core game, itself.

The Microsoft under Satya Nadella and X-box under Phil Spencer are the polar opposite of any negative impressions one would have of either. For some years now, X-box has been like: "What do you want? Ok, here you go. But surely there's more I can give you? What can I do for you? Please, Please Please, let me do something for you...pleeeaaaase, I beg of you, take my shirt off of my back!" It's pretty uncanny, tbh.

Re: Hands On: We Test Our Cheeks On The Herman Miller X Logitech G Embody Gaming Chair

You can pick up used Herman Miller Aerons by the truckload for around $75-450 a piece in any well populated area in North America. Which is partially why I cringe when I see "gaming chairs". The Embody model hasn't really made its mark on the office furniture resale market yet. So, I can't confirm nor deny it's quality. The Aerons retail from $1,000 and on up and it's money well spent if you're on an American healthcare plan.

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Five More Titles

@DrDaisy

Zombies Ate My Neighbors was a LucasArts game so we’ll have to take it up with Disney. They did dump a bunch of classic PC titles on Steam at one point.

The thing about Valis is...well wasn’t the hentai simply inevitable? It’s an otaku game, through and through. Gameplay was never a priority for the series. It exists to tick off a checklist for a certain kind of perv.

Re: Quantic Dream Is Bringing Sea Of Solitude: The Director's Cut To Switch In March

Skipped the opportunity to buy this game for pennies on the dollar quite a few times. Game itself supposedly ain’t so great. Themes are presented the same as every other of it’s ilk: super basic and completely in your face with zero subtlety nor depth. One of the trailers has a Billie Eilish tune. So if you’re an eight year old girl that has yet to have discovered SSRI’s and mood stabilizers: bob’s your uncle.

I’m going to have to agree to disagree with you on Katana Zero. I think the core gameplay elements are super addictive and fun. As you may know, only half the time is the actual gameplay. While that is normally my worst nightmare, I think the developer went above and beyond and manages to make an intriguing mindtrip of an experience that is more than just a video game. True, the storyline and dialogue are a mix of edgelord irony and feels, but it really just services the experience.

@joey302

It’s a Taito, so don’t worry, Operation Wolf is coming as an exclusively physical $65 limited edition, a $99 one with included home ports, and a $300 one with some stickers and pogs. Three years later, it will appear on the eshop out of nowhere and you’ll be able to buy It along with a separate $50 product that consists of a Spectrum ZX and MSX port. 😂
