Hamster's latest Arcade Archives release is Taito's 1984 game, Ben Bero Beh. It's filled with plenty of unique characters such as the enemy from Elevator Action and Chack'n from Chack'n Pop (another Taito game).
This action platform arcade title requires you (a superhero) to avoid obstacles and put out fires to rescue NAO-Chan (your girlfriend) from the flames. As always, this is another faithfully reproduced classic that allows players to change various game settings such as the overall difficulty. Players can also compete against other high scores from around the world.
This latest Arcade Archives game will set you back $7.99 or your regional equivalent. Is this a game you've been waiting to return to? Tell us below.

Call me what you want, but I will only get one of their releases if they re-design their icons. They look so cheap and effortless.
Never heard of this one, looks pretty interesting! This one's going on my wishlist.
Impressive graphics for 1984. Very vibrant.
So it's some kind of firefighting super hero game?
Day 1 if it's free
I love that the keep bringing new Arcade titles, but I just don’t think they should all be priced the same.
How about a 25 cent demo?
Hoping for more Taito games like Qix!
@Tandy255 We need Qix on Switch so badly. We didn't even got some clones so far.
@Yanina I am going to call youuuu....
perfectly validated in your choice of not buying a game because of its icon.
@Daniel36 Awwww ❤️😘
Worth mentioning is the emulation quality here. MAME has the background colors wrong, with huge vertical stripes, because of some tricky-to-decode components on the original arcade PCB.
Also, for Bubble Bobble deep lore fans, Ben Bero Beh marks the debut of Rascal of Hiyoshi Mountain!
I’m gaming since the 2600 and I’ve never heard of this one i gotta say. Looks interesting But of all the Taito games out there this is an odd choice as opposed to:
Operation Wolf
Operation Thunderbolt
Qix
ANY Space invaders game
Jungle Hunt
Bubble bobble
Rainbow Islands
Space Dungeon
Chase HQ 1 or 2
SCI special criminal investigation
Aqua Jack
Arkanoid
ANY Darius game
Phoenix
Zoo Keeper
Continental Circus
Flying Shark
Hellfire
Time Gal
Hit the Ice
Jupiter Strike
Parasol Stars
Insector X
Final Blow
Ray Crisis
Ray force
Ray Storm
Thundercade
Tiger Heli
Truxton
Twin Cobra 1 & 2
Now maybe Hamster will get to these over time but with 800 games in their arsenal it may take a while. But any of these would be IMO a better and more well known choice. 😊
@joey302
Add The New Zealand Story and Elevator Action, and I will buy your compilation. 😊
@Yanina @Tandy255 I know it's not the real thing, but I've enjoyed my time with Cubixx on the Switch while waiting for the arcade original. Apparently it's an update of an old PSP Qix clone. Giant Bomb took a look at it eight years ago: https://youtu.be/saDQdl1r3jU
Hell yeah, Taito!!!
@Daddoo Thanks! I had missed Cubixx. I’ll check it out.
It looks great and I like the 3D aspect!
Ah, they explained it: Cube + Qix = Cubixx.
Taito, Arkanoid, NOW!
@Joey302 yes yes and yes to that list xx
@Yanina Qix is good, or a step ahead and go for Volfied.
One complaint I heard about Volfied is that the Genesis port made the Barrier (effectively the timer) sound effect much more irritating. Which I guess is a problem since it is constantly playing.
@Ooyah believe it or not that list was off the top of my head lol so I figured missed a few lol
@joey302
Blimey, that's pretty impressive! 😆 For me, The New Zealand Story is part of Taito's Holy Trinity, together with Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands. 😊
@Ooyah absolutely agree all 3 games! I think all 3 will hit eventually and Bubble Bobble is on PS4 for a while now. Yea my wife says to me Yea you can remember all that video games crap yet you forget to take out the trash! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Daddoo oh thanks for that tipp!
@KingMike Yeah I also like Volfied.
Really weird that not many indie clones are spawned from that concept so far.
Eventually, I would like Hamster to tackle the F3 hardware so we could get Bubble Symphony, Elevator Action Returns, Pop'n'Pop, Bubble Memories, Psychic Force 2012, Bust-a-Move 4, etc.
@Yanina
They are indeed pretty awful. The PlayStation an Xbox have a different color letterbox and are less offendin, but icky.
@joey302
It’s a Taito, so don’t worry, Operation Wolf is coming as an exclusively physical $65 limited edition, a $99 one with included home ports, and a $300 one with some stickers and pogs. Three years later, it will appear on the eshop out of nowhere and you’ll be able to buy It along with a separate $50 product that consists of a Spectrum ZX and MSX port. 😂
