Super Mario Odyssey launches this week - as if you didn't know - and Nintendo has gone big on promoting the game in Japan.

Everywhere you look there are adverts, merchandise, magazines, cardboard stands and even Mario statues, all of which show that Nintendo isn't sparing any expense when it comes to marketing the living heck out of the title.

Nintendo has even joined forces with Uniqlo, so even if you walk into a store to innocently buy some clothes you cannot escape the Super Mario Odyssey demo pod. He's everywhere.

There's one big problem here - anyone who doesn't own a Switch already and wants to experience Mario's latest adventure might be out of luck. Consoles remain hard to come by in Japan, with stores still holding lotteries to distribute stock.
