Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD - A Remaster That Truly Soars

Not many people bought this on Wii compared to the install base. I welcome this port. If it takes 4-5 years between AAA titles, whats wrong with a remaster in the interim. Complaints about price are also annoying. If a classic film has a 4K restoration do people complain on about paying the current entry fee to see it.. Or would people complain that it only cost sixpence back in 1937? Besides.. The RRP is £50 but ive got a physical preorder for £42 with steelbook and itll be available for £36 within a few months. I'm still excited to play this even if its a bit creaky in a post-BOTW world.

Re: Talking Point: Can Metroid Dread Be The Franchise's 'Awakening'?

quigtendo

I owned Prime 1 on Gamecube but it never clicked. Maybe I was too young. I would love the chance to play the trilogy as I've seen all the acclaim for them over the years. I've also never played Super Metroid so excited for Dread in what I'm hoping is my first Metroid game. It seems lots of people are in similar boats

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Nintendo Direct At E3 2021?

quigtendo

Some good new announcements, even if a lot are ports and remasters. Not as excited by BOTW 2 as I first thought I might be. Shin Megami Tensei V looks great but I don't if it's for me. New footage of Mario Golf and Monster Hunter Stories has piqued my interest in those 2. It would be an A- for me. But B+ in a non-pandemic year.

Re: Talking Point: Is The N64 Pad Actually The Best Controller Ever?

quigtendo

It he D Pad was unused and the third party controller I had actually performed better. The shark pad pro. It was see through plastic, very cool in the 90s and the stick was much more reliable. I actually had a look at it recently before selling all my retro gaming bits and the stick is still good. There is something about the N64 controller that is so weird, confusing and awkward looking that makes it so Iconic vs any xbox controller

Re: Get Ready For Zelda: Skyward Sword HD's "Smoother And More Intuitive" Controls

I’m excited for this and glad they’re refining the motion controls. I’ll definitely mix up gameplay between Pro Controller when I’m feeling lazier and some sword swiping action. BOTW was an undeniably excellent game, but playing the Witcher 3 on Switch really does show how little there is to do in the game and how the narrative isn’t all that interesting. That said, the gameplay is smoother in BOTW whereas Witcher feels a bit glitchy sometimes. I’d like a nice middle ground. Perhaps that’s why I’m so excited for some meaty dungeons in SS.

Re: Switch Is Now Nintendo's Second Best-Selling System In The US, In "Tracked History"

quigtendo

@gergelyv if you can’t have backwards compatibility then I love the ports, because the Wii U did have a disproportionate amount of good games for its rubbish sales. But the ports should be peppered throughout new first party or major third party releases.. the Wii U was the first Nintendo console I missed since the SNES and I feel like if I hadn’t missed it I would be so bitter.. I listen to loads of Nintendo podcasts so it’s quite clear that the fan base is a bit fed up of ports and it’s kind of dampening my enjoyment of the era

Re: Soapbox: It's Time To Normalise Giving Up On Games Early

quigtendo

I haven’t finished BOTW.. playing it is very fun. And I got to Ganon, decided I was underpowered and needed more hearts and master sword so continued to play around. Never went back to Ganon and haven’t touched the game in ages. I think it’s not a strong enough story that I’m so desperate to see to a conclusion.

Re: Soapbox: There Might Be A Bright Side To Mario's March 31st Doomsday, After All

quigtendo

Some of the magic of things is their limited time nature.. like a limited edition food stuff, or a limited run in a theatre, or an art exhibition. Sure maybe in a couple of years someone may wish they had got to play Super Mario 35.. but can’t. But there’s a lot of things I’d like that are relics of the past and that is fine. I feel like the Mario 35th anniversary has been more of a complainathon than a celebration and it really does muddy the enjoyment.

Re: Random: Nintendo Ironically Celebrates All Mario Switch Games With Fans, Weeks Before Wiping Some From Existence

quigtendo

Everyone complains when it’s a lazy port not a full remaster.. everyone complains about the price for three old games.. everyone complains about that it’s a time limited release.. everyone complains about mario galaxy 2 not being included. And I’m just happy here playing through three astounding games for which there are going to be millions in resale market.
