UK physical chart data is now in for the week ending 5th June, revealing that half of the week's top ten games are exclusive to Nintendo Switch.
After a good while away, EA's FIFA 21 has returned to the top of the table this time around, closely followed by Nintendo's evergreen hits, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The recently released Miitopia has retained last week's ninth place finish while New Pokémon Snap, which launched at the end of April, is still clinging on in 17th.
Here's a look at this week's top ten all formats chart:
Last Week | This Week | Title |
---|---|---|
8 | 1 | FIFA 21 |
6 | 2 | Animal Crossing: New Horizons |
7 | 3 | Mario Kart 8 Deluxe |
1 | 4 | Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales |
4 | 5 | Resident Evil Village |

Quiet week it seems. Nintendo has got to be pleased with Miitopia though, even with little competition it's been incredibly well to stay in the charts for a title that's so niche.
The Last of Us Part II is still on the UK charts? I thought that game crashed and burned world wide once people found out what it was.
I still dont believe that everyone who has a switch doesn't have a copy of Mario Kart 8 deluxe yet, it's just madness, and the thing is as people keep on buying it, Nintendo will not be making 9
Nice to see that Miitopia is doing well, especially for such a niche game, hopefully this means that a Miitopia sequel or a new Mii related game, or even Tomodachi Life follows.
I REALLY hope Mario 3D World is selling well! It is such a fantastic game and really deserves to sell millions. I owned it on WiiU but love it even more on the Switch...truly one of my favourite games of all time
@TheFox could be because it’s on offer most places some prices are a tenner for it.
I contributed to that Mario 3D World position and glad I did. Bought a second pro controller to have some couch co-op and its just so much gentle fun so far. Fully expecting the chaos to increase toward the end.
I'm pleased to see my game is still in the top 10.
@Bunkerneath As long as Switch hardware keeps selling, Mario Kart will keep selling as it'll almost always be one of the first games a new owner will pick up.
That doesn't necessarily mean that there's no incentive at all to make a Mario Kart 9 though as that'd probably be another 20+ million copy seller.
Even though I bought them both at launch, i am still playing ACNH and Super Mario 3D. Nintendo makes some great games.
I swear this confuses the munkies out of me... We're constantly being told that Nintendo doesn't share digital sales figures, and yet here we are with a digital only game making it into the top 10 sales figures..
checks
Oh, right.. I'm thinking of the wrong game.
shuts up
@TheFox It did big numbers at launch, and has popped back in due to major discounts. From what I understand Sony aren't losing much sleep over how it sold.
@Jayenkai Which game doesn't have a physical release? As far as I'm aware, they all got one.
@Hewitt Miitopia is not niche apparently. If it was it would have disappeared from the top 10 in 1 week.
@BenAV It would sell a huge amount but I’m becoming doubtful we’ll see MK9 on the Switch unless the Pro is a good sized revision. MK is best to bring out at the start of the system’s lifespan cause it is Nintendo’s biggest IP.
@roboshort True, saving it for the next system would probably be the biggest reason for not releasing another Mario Kart on the Switch, but the next system could still be a fair while away so who knows. Unlikely perhaps but you never know with Nintendo.
@BenAV It would suck if there were 10 years between Mario Kart games, though. It’s hard to count Tour and Home Circuit. The Mario Kart team must be working on something. And their last title was Arms so they should be nearing the end of development on something
Dc super girls surprisingly didn’t chart 🤦♂️Mad there’s still no review for it. I bought it and it’s actually pretty good to be fair.
@roboshort One can hope. I barely even touched Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as I'd already played the Wii U version to death. Would kill for a new one or some new tracks at the very least.
No GTA V? That's crazy
Minecraft as usual is in the top
DC Super Hero Girls looks to have bombed as it didn't even chart in the Top 40.
Miitopia looks to have solid legs at retail but unless digital sales are abnormally strong, it doesn't seem like it will be selling Tomodachi Life numbers.
It should still be a solid 2-3 million seller in the end and pave a solid path for Tomodachi Life 2 or Miitopia 2 on Switch.
