My switch and my Pro Controllers were all completely dead, had been gathering dust for probably nearly a year.. so this morning I’ve been charging a few controllers up and have some errands to run before two full days dedicated to TOTK. 😍😍😍
@Bucket I never finished either.. I got to Ganon but couldn’t beat him so went back and got a load more hearts and the master sword but never went back to beat him. I’m starting TOTK anyway but really wish I had finished BOTW
I don’t care for football (/soccer) but throughly enjoyed previous games and would get this to add to local multiplayer selection.. MK8 and Overcooked need a new chum, and Smash Bros isn’t unanimously liked in my house 🥲
Nice to see Pokémon holding strong. I was dubious so waited till the reviews came out but nice to see how positive they are, IGN aside. I actually don’t think the graphics are that bad and I’m playing docked on a 60” tv. It’s not much worse than BOTW and the performance is steady.. loading times are quick.. gameplay is fun.
I was on the fence as have a backlog but saw my dusty ring fit adventure box on the side so made the decision to trade that in for Arceus. Someone had already sold their PLA copy to CEX within a few days of release. Haven’t played yet but excited after the deeply unchallenging Sw/Sw and let’s go.
@Wiss2wiss yes still surprised that a high profile JRPG release didn’t manage to break into the Top 30 in Japan though, even with about two months sales
I haven’t played Splatoon but really was put off by lack of couch co-op. I don’t play online and just feel like this game looks it is crying out for it
I’ve spent more time in 2021 listening to Nintendo podcasts than playing my Switch which is one the most depressing things about the whole year 😂. So I pretty immediately got a Split Pad Pro, downloaded some fantastic looking games in the Eshop sale.. at a heavy discount and hope to get some good handheld gaming in 2022. I love physical but having got some digital games, it’s just so convenient
I went a bit mad in the eshop sale. Bought Okami HD, Wolfenstein 2, Unravel 2 and Inside. Unravel is such a lovely game to play to unwind (lol) as it’s fairly low stress so far. Don’t know why I’m adding more games to my backlog though, still haven’t finished Skyward Sword or Metroid Dread… 😩
First GameCube game, I remember buying my black GameCube from Choices Video in a bundle with Rogue Leader, not sure what convinced me to pick it up as wasn’t even a Star Wars fan
I didn’t love Diamond when I bought a DS and Diamond in a mid-Pokemon Go hype frenzy. These remakes don’t look very interesting. Let’s Go was pleasant but too relaxing, not in a good way. Sword and Shield felt like a missed opportunity. I love the series but it has felt like so long that a game has been truly engaging. I can’t remember any challenge or peril since Ruby and Sapphire. I appreciate that it might get more involved in the competitive scene but I wish they were more enjoyable single player games.
I’m tempted to double dip and replace my 1st edition Switch.. Love the screen and the white joy cons although I’d probably just get a Split Pad Pro as my drifting joy cons are the reason I gave up on handheld a long time ago.
I owned Prime on GameCube and played all of 30mins before getting bored.. after loving Dread I would definitely double dip for Prime on Switch. Would have liked the trilogy but I’ll take the first one to whet the appetite for 4 whenever that arrives. I think it will be a full price release and people need to realise that the price is dictated by the demand, and Nintendo’s full price remakes do sell so they’re clearly priced okay. If you don’t think it’s good value to double dip then don’t.. but Prime 1 didn’t exactly have stellar sales first time round so it’ll be a new game for the majority
Got stuck on a really stressful bit on Metroid Dread so dipped back into Skyward Sword and got stuck on a tough bit. Ffs. It’s like the world is telling me to relax in Animal Crossing
@the_beaver I’m leaning on Xenoblade for the concept of the world. Not familiar with Ys VIII - will have to check it out before making my decision. I want something I can have really put some hours in handheld in
@Warioware I guess this is where Square Enix are succeeding with smaller scale RPGs that have AAA JRPG gameplay but probably cheaper to make because of simpler graphics, Octopath, Bravely Default.. I certainly don’t need full HD graphics, Switch was my first console since GameCube so I love playing ports for the years I’ve missed with their allegedly ‘unplayable visuals’.
I’ve been keen to get a big JRPG for Switch, tried Ni No Kuni but not for me. The sidekick is so annoying and the combat is a bit awkward.. can’t decide between Xenoblade, Dragon Quest or this.. or maybe Tokyo Mirage Sessions
Don’t have Splatoon, feel like I missed the boat for 2 but will jump in for 3. Also don’t have Super Mario Party.. although tempted by Superstars. I’m really tempted to sell RFA and the Pokemon games, I can’t see myself replaying..
How big does the switch install base need to be for developers to make AAA games with the Switch in mind. Much bigger install than PS5 and XBOX Series X. The only really top tier attempt i can think of is Monster Hunter Rise..
The Witcher 3, well ported onto a portable console, with all the DLC on physical is regularly sold for like £35 in the UK. And we couldn’t get a proper physical release for £50 and Rockstar still make profit? I will probably hope and wait for a deep sale with this as I buy physical so I can play or resell years down the line but a fraction of a game won’t be much use down the line.
Excited for this. Loved Stardew Valley but having put far too many hours into Harvest Moon over the years it didn’t feel like a new experience. This seems to offer a new take.
@idork99 I had this remorse.. wishing I had just got standard edition and saved money for another game.. alas I cracked my copy open after a week and am now loving it:
Metroid Dread.. first foray properly into the Metroid series having played Super and Prime 1 for about 15 mins each. It’s so good. Tense, compact, satisfying. Samus moves really nicely. I can see why people talk up Metroidvanias now.. seems a good time for the Ori double back to be coming out. 😍😍😍
💯. I bought a PS2 for vice city (and playing DVDs). I didn’t have a memory card so just cruised round listening to music. Excited to play it properly, with the other two.. in one package. YES
It is less than the price of a coffee per month, for all those N64 games with more to come. I feel like they’ll add additional content too down the line.. maybe DLC for other games will be a NSO Expansion perk.
Well I contributed a sale and its my first Metroid game. I owned Metroid Prime but never played. Haven’t got round to playing yet though, another addition to the backlog. A bit disappointed to have plumped for a Special Edition to find out they are still widely available. There goes my mini windfall in a decade when I’m selling it 😂
I got the Collectors Edition which has just arrived (and is massive) but would rather have paid £25. Looking forward to playing it. First time playing a Metroid game, could never get into Prime when I had it on GC
Urgh, noisy Internet people unhappy that Nintendo arent debuting trailers for new unannounced mainline Mario, Zelda, MK9 and Metroid with confirmed release dates this winter, with every pre Switch game added to Switch online for no additional fee.. And a foot massage from Miyamoto added for good measure
This actually looks really fun, love the setting. It reminds me of the abandoned theme park opening of Spirited Away. I found Star Allies polished but a bit simple. Hoping theres a bit more challenge to this.
For what its worth, I LOVED Vice City.. Bought a PS2 just for this game but never had a memory card so just drove round aimlessly, always starting again at the beginning. Eventually traded PS2 in for a DVD player and about 7 second hand Gamecube games. Best decision. Still glad to be able to replay Vice City and also give the other two a go. Hope this rumour pans out.
I wasn't sure about this as the 64 original was a bit slight and I remember not really enjoying the grading system for photos.. But with the good reviews and additional content its becoming more of a must have for me.. On a quiet month when theres less coming out probably
It looks so good. Im excited for it but worried about adding another game to the Switch Library with more pressure to play. Skyward Sword, NMH3, Metroid Dread, SMTV.. That's a decent second half of the year..
First fire emblem game and loved it. Parts of the monastery were great fun once I realised what i was doing. It gave me a good chance to care about my team.. (Raphael the gentle giant 😢).. Too involved in my students to ever attempt perma death. I hope Switch gets a follow up that captures the best of the series. Surprised not to have seen a port even.

I really need to play one and two before I get on the hype train. JRPGs are just so daunting.. I also have DQ11 and SMT5 waiting 😩😂
Re: Where To Pre-Order Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp On Switch
I am excited for this, might even go digital because I think it’ll be a nice casual game to play in handheld..

So glad the MK8 DLC was £24 for all 48 tracks.. did anyone else worry it was £25 for each set of 8 at first..

Re: Here Are Japan's Top 30 Best-Selling Switch eShop Games For 2021
But depressing that lots of old games, I.e. Pokémon Sword, have sold better than Metroid Dread. Also, SMT V not even breaking the Top 30…… 😩

Let’s be honest, they’re still ancient games. I figured an extra tenner per year. Or an extra £1 a month

I think the fact there's been no MK8 DLC must tell us that 9 is in development.. As DLC would be like printing money. Id pay a tenner for an extra cup
