Update: As a quick reminder, Nintendo's 35% off Mario deals are coming to an end this weekend. You have until Sunday if you're hoping to pick up either Super Mario Maker 2 or Paper Mario: The Origami King at a reduced price from the eShop!
Original Article (Thu 11th Mar, 2021 15:00 GMT): While sadly not as impressive as the great savings taking place in North America at the moment, Nintendo of Europe has now slashed the prices of a couple of Mario Switch games for a limited time.
In celebration of MAR10 Day, which took place yesterday, as well as last year's 35th anniversary, you can now grab both Super Mario Maker 2 and Paper Mario: The Origami King at 35% off. The saving takes both games' usual RRP of £49.99 all the way down to £32.49 – one of the biggest discounts on Mario games you're likely to see.
The deal is only taking place on the eShop (no such deals have been announced for physical copies at retail, sadly) and you have up until 21st March to take advantage.
If you want to learn all about either of the two titles on offer, make sure to read our full reviews for Super Mario Maker 2 here, and Paper Mario: The Origami King here.
Has this discount tempted you to pick either of the games up? Do you already own them anyway? Let us know in the usual place.

MAR11 day. Perfect timing
Also, Amazon UK have had really good deals on Switch games recently. Origami King is currently £32.99 and Mario Maker 2 is £35.
Celebrate Mario Day with us a day late as we discount just two of the bazillion Mario games available on Switch.
Cool!
just 2 games? Nintendo is such cheap :D:D:
@ImagineerNik I mean, who are we to claim she DOESN'T deserve her day and a couple Nintendo games discounted to honour it?
What a joke of a sale.
I really wish Nintendo would do something similar to the Nintendo Selects range they've done on previous consoles
@ImagineerNik Physical Origami King is £32.99 in Currys too.
35% instead of 33%? 😅
So the eShop price now matches/ever so slightly beats the price for the physical copy elsewhere at present?
What a sale. What would I do without Nintendo's extremely generous deals?/s
Two poxy games! What a joke Nintendo
These games should no longer be full price ever. This is so anti-consumer. Full price should only be for a month or two after release, and then the price should be halved. I've got to get a job so I can buy video games?
@DavidH @BlackenedHalo @andyg1412 It's funny that Mario + Rabbids isn't even in the sale when it's usually on sale like 90% of the time.
Two top notch games, I got a fun 30 hours or so out of Paper Mario.. not very challenging but an enjoyable ride.. and Super Mario Maker 2 has a great single player but haven’t explored but many of the user made levels yet
Darn, was hoping for Mario Tennis Aces (thanks to all NL's Jon C's stellar YouTube coverage) and Luigi's Mansion 3 like in the US...well, I'll probably sensibly wait until I have time to play them now at least!
Oh well already own both
Own them all, so.....
I really wish a Paper Mario Sale in America's (specially in Brazil)
39.99€ for a digital edition? No thanks.
For a few bucks more I can get the physical edition on Amazon.
It is cool and all, but I am going to be picking up a Luigi game that is on sale in the US. (also 35% off)
@Grackler same. Tennis aces is pretty much the only Switch Mario game I've had a go on and enjoyed that I haven't picked up.
@MrSteveBob Totally! My problem is that I usually have all the games by the time they come out as Selects. 😬
BOTW deserves the full price - but many of their games should become Selects (even digitally) and get permanent discounts (ARMs, 1-2 Switch, Splatoon 2, Link’s Awakening, etc.).
They should also permanently discount Mario Run on phones.
In a rare case of Australia getting "special" treatment, Super Mario Odyssey is also included in the sale (though it's more often the case that sales in other territories DON'T get passed on to us).
@Chimaj Nintendo is gradually increasing their discounts by 2-3%. From 30% to 33% to 35%...5 more years and we may actually see a Nintendo game be 50% off.
@NoTimeForBS
"5 more years and we may actually see a Nintendo game be 50% off."
No. In five more years, Switch 2 will be out and all those old Nintendo games will be removed from the eShop, in favour of selling the new Switch 2 DX version at full price instead.
@Burning_Spear
yes i know it is a hard concept but you do have to earn money to get video games.
I guess that's the disadvantage of owning most of the Mario Games on the Switch, can't take advantage of slaves.
Edit: *sales
I didn't see that um auto correct is there something you wanna say???
I ginally bought Mario Maker and made a super sadistic scrolling water level where you cant touch the ground.. x)
Help, I know Orgami King isn't Thousand year door but I do would like a nice chill rpg to sink my teeth in. Should I...?
So, how much is it in euro ?
@Joriss If you go into it expecting a really nice adventure game with a good story and a great sense of humour, I don't think you'll be dissapointed. I've never played a Paper Mario game so I took it on its own merits and really enjoyed it. The art style and music is great.
@Burning_Spear 😮
@Burning_Spear Only rich people should be able to afford entertainment. Poverty is a choice, and they are all lazy.
