Re: Pokémon Presents July 2025: Every Announcement, Full Livestream

pnott

I am not surprised at how bad this Presents was. There hasn't been a decent Presents in years. It all hinges on next year's 30th anniversary, if that Presents is a dud then for me the Pokemon series is dead. No excuse not to go full force and give the fans what they have been asking for

Re: Pokémon Is Teasing Something Ahead Of Next Week's Showcase

pnott

Probably just some rubbish mobile game or its related to Pokémon Champions. I am sure the Presents will be updates to mobile games, an in game event or two and a trailer for ZA showcasing some new element a new mega or something like that. I just skim through the Presents later in the day. 90% of it is just stuff I have no interest in

Re: Talking Point: What We Expect From The Switch 2 Direct

pnott

I hope for 3d Mario reveal and a trailer for Mario Kart. Details on Switch 2 enhanced games would be nice. I don't expect them to give away the full shop on Wednesday. They said in last Thursday's Direct that they would be dropping Switch 2 news daily on the Today app following the Direct which is probably them saying don't go in expecting everything to be revealed

Re: How Would You Rate The Pokémon Presents Showcase For February 2025?

pnott

Another poor Presents. There is nothing of interest in it for me except for ZA but another 9 months at least to that. All I wanted from this was old games on NSO and Koraidon & Miraidon shinies, something to fill the gap. If this time next year I am sat here after another abysmal Presents I am finished with Pokémon!

Re: Pokémon Game Boy Titles Dominate 3DS eShop Charts Ahead Of Service Closure

pnott

@Don

The leak was back in April 2022. It was reported on all gaming websites including Nintendolife. The NSO files were datamined and a load of files containing GB and GBA games were found. Of course the leak was verified as the games contained in the leak are now on NSO. Screenshots of the berry tag screen in Pokémon Emerald were also found along with files called 'Pokémon trade'. Doesn't mean that Pokémon Gen 3 is definitely coming to NSO but it shows Nintendo were at some point testing it and testing trading.

Re: Pokémon Game Boy Titles Dominate 3DS eShop Charts Ahead Of Service Closure

pnott

I know that at least gen 3 is coming to the Switch in the future as they were found in the leak along with the games that were released on NSO in February and are confirmed to be coming later. I am not confident about Gen 1 & 2 being added to NSO. My gut is telling me they will only release Gen 3 on NSO and not Gen 1 & 2. I would recommend purchasing them on the 3ds while you can because I wouldn't trust Nintendo to bring them to NSO.

Re: Poll: Six Years On, Which Was Nintendo Switch's Best Year So Far?

pnott

Its a toss up between 2017 & 2022 for me. I think 2022 clinches the top spot with a brand new generation of Pokémon & Legends Arceus to top all that off Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Kirby and the Forgotten Land & Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC. 2017 was a great year for the Switch with Zelda & Mario Odyssey. 2019 is closely behind. I am surprised the article doesn't mention Pokémon Sword & Shield in 2019. The first proper mainline Pokémon games on the Switch.

Re: Talking Point: What Will Be Announced On Pokémon Day 2023?

pnott

Keeping my expectations in check. I am just expecting to see the Mystery Dungeon remake and SV DLC. Gen 5 remake or a Gen 2 Legends game are unlikely. I am not sure about Gen 1, 2 & 3 coming to NSO now. Gen 1, 2 & 3 on NSO and SV DLC in the one Presents sounds too good to be true. I said that Gen 9 would not be announced in last year's Presents so who knows what could happen.

Re: The Pokémon Company To Share Special 'Pokémon 1008 Encounters' Video Tomorrow

pnott

As others have said Game Freak can't manage to make a game with 400 Pokémon (technically 500 as 100 are coded into the game that are only available through Home when it is updated) run properly. Imagine if they had to code in 1008 Pokémon. If the game runs poorly now, it would be a disaster if they had 1008 Pokémon in it. The writing was on the wall in Pokémon Sun and Moon in 2016 which were the first games not to have a national dex. Moving the series to the Switch gave them the opportunity to stop including all Pokémon in one game under the guise of the new higher fidelity models. If not having every known Pokémon at your disposal is bothersome to you then don't buy the games. The games are still selling at record breaking pace so don't expect to see a national dex anytime soon.

Re: Soapbox: If You Thought Last Year Was "Sad" For Switch, 2023 Might Be Hard To Handle

pnott

January we had Pokémon Legends Arceus, March brought Triangle Strategy and Kirby and the Forgotten Land, April saw Nintendo Switch Sports, Mario Strikers & Fire Embelm in June, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 & Live a Live in July, Splatoon 3 in September, Mario + Rabbids & Bayonetta 3 in October, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet in November. To top all that off 24 remastered courses for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I had a great year with the Switch. Of course everyone's opinion will be different. So far only 4 games interest me in 2023. Hopefully Nintendo have something big in store for late 2023.

Re: A New Limited-Time Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Tera Raid Battle Has Begun

pnott

@RubyCarbuncle I definitely think that there is something going on with rng in raids. Sing is 55% accuracy. A 6 star Blissey spammed the heck out of sing and didn’t miss a single one. Play rough is 90% accuracy and I missed 5 times. They must have changed the rng to make raids appear harder. Only got 1 herba mystica from that raid. Raids are just not worth the time and the aggravation. It’s crazy that raid events don’t drop herba mystica.

Re: Ash Ketchum And Pikachu's Time In The Pokémon Anime Is Coming To An End

pnott

Something tells me this isn't the end of Ash completely . He won't be the main character but he will be in the new series in a signifcant way. I wouldn't be surprised if the two new characters are given their starters by Ash who became a Professor or an assistant to the Professor. I hope because the new series will start in April like the original series did in 1997 that that means a return to the original format of travelling around one region. What is happening with Team Rocket Trio? The fact that they showed them in Paldea with the Paldean starters mean they will be in the new series?

Re: Video: You Can Improve Pokémon Scarlet And Violet's Performance Yourself

pnott

I had mine installed on the SD card and never noticed any serious lag. Only a small bit of lag near one of the Team Star bases. The famous lake that apparently is extremely laggy was a little laggy but nothing to the extent that some suggest. As in nothing game breaking. Even the co-op over internet was smooth enough. Moved it to the internal memory anyway to be safe. I have seen streamers having ridiculous lag to the point where the game nearly became unplayable. Its a mystery to me as why some experience terrible lag and some don't. I have the first generation original Switch.

Re: Feature: 30 Changes We'd Like To See In The Next Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Update

pnott

Turning off EXP share will definitely not be in any update. We have had automatic EXP sharing since Sword and Shield and in BDSP remake so I can't see them changing that. Shinies making a sound or sparkling in the overworld is also most likely not happening. A Pokémon when using let's go auto battle feature won't attack a shiny and I feel they did that for you to know if it's a shiny in the overworld.

Re: Pokémon Fans Vent Frustrations Online About Scarlet & Violet's Technical Issues

pnott

The Pokémon Company sets the schedule. They probably have set out the stall for the next 2 years at least with anime, movies, trading cards, merch, clothing etc. No way would they even consider delaying Scarlet and Violet because of the impact it would have on that. Game Freak are constrained to a very tight timeline with no room to manoeuvre. It's not the same as other developers who can delay as much as they like until they are happy with the final product. Not saying that they were right to release the games as they are. TPCi need to re-evaluate their business model.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Name Your Pokémon?

pnott

I always give my team Pokémon nicknames. I don't give nicknames to 'mons that I don't use in my team. In the early games when it used to capitalise names, I always gave them nicknames in the correct case. Putting names all in caps just looked wrong to me. Now its just a habit of mine to nickname my team.

Re: Random: Fan Remakes Pokémon Yellow In Link's Awakening-Style 3D

pnott

All that work in 2 weeks is impressive and well done for that. I know I couldn't do this. The problem is Link's Awakening 3d was plonked randomly in the title for views. Its unfair to compare this to Link's Awakening and criticise this remake because of a misleading title. I do think the graphics aren't very good but that doesn't take away from the fact that this guy obviously put in a lot of time and effort.

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think Of The September 2022 Nintendo Direct?

pnott

Too many farming simulations. Happy to see Fire Embelm and Legend of Zelda. Shocked that Octopath Traveller got a sequel. Wasn’t expecting that. I am so excited for Octopath Traveller. Mario Kart DLC wave 3 I am looking forward to as well. No mainline Mario game was a disappointment. Not as good as the February direct but not absolutely terrible. 6/10.

Re: Feature: Every Pokémon Game Narrative, Ranked From Best To Worst

pnott

I would put all of them at F. None of them have a good story. Black and White included. Pokémon is not a series known for its stories. Catch & train Pokémon, defeat the 'villian', collect gym badges, defeat elite four and the champion. Rinse & repeat. The only one that tried to change it up some what was Sun & Moon but still it was very much the same as the others.

Re: Video: What Was Your First Video Game Ever?

pnott

The first video game I ever saw was Alex the Kidd on the Sega Master System. It was my brother’s so I didn’t play it if at all. The first video game I actually played was probably Super Mario World on the SNES. I played the hell out of that. Street Fighter 2 and Super Mario Kart too. The first console I actually owned was a turquoise gameboy colour. Still have it.

Re: Nintendo Direct Mini To Air Tomorrow, June 28

pnott

@Andy77mk
At no point did I say 'not enough games'. I said I felt that fall was looking a bit light on big releases. Seeing them all together in a list, there is a lot of games coming out within the next 6 months at least big or small. Hopefully we will get confirmation of dates for Bayonetta 3, and Mario+Rabbids tomorrow. I would just like to see one of the Nintendo staple series like Mario, Yoshi or Donkey Kong getting something in the next 12 months. Sadly we won't be seeing any of that tomorrow. Ah well there is always September maybe.

Re: Nintendo Direct Mini To Air Tomorrow, June 28

pnott

@BabyYoda71 @Andy77mk

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Live A Live are both coming out in July. That’s not fall. Bayonetta 3, Mario & Rabbids and Sonic Frontiers do not have confirmed release dates aside from 2022. We don’t know whether they will be released this year or delayed to next year. Only two big exclusives have confirmed release dates post July, Splatoon 3 and Pokémon. As of right that’s not much in my opinion.

Re: Poll: Do You Think We'll Get A Nintendo Direct Next Week?

pnott

TBH I don't know. I hope so but Nintendo have never held a general June direct this late in the month so I am edging towards there not being a direct this month. There wasn't a direct in June 2020. Just two Pokémon Presents. I think the inside information of a direct in June might have been misinterpreted and the Xenoblade direct last week was the direct. Nintendo will only do a direct if there is something to show. Perhaps Nintendo simply doesn't have anything in the pipeline this fall that hasn't already been announced.

Re: A Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Direct Will Be Airing This Wednesday

pnott

I don’t understand why people are getting upset over the XC3 direct cancelling out a direct next week that has not even been announced and others getting annoyed over people believing a direct is not happening next week. People give these so called leakers too much attention. A direct will happen when Nintendo says so. For me until Nintendo announces a direct to air on June 29th, Wednesday’s XC3 direct is the only direct happening. If a direct does happen on June 29 great, if there isn’t a direct on the 29th so be it.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Direct To Take Place Later This Month

pnott

Let me understand this. A journalist during a live stream on her own channel after talking about the Xbox Bethesda Showcase offhandedly mentions a Nintendo Direct scheduled for June 29th. When quizzed on it she says that this information didn't come from Nintendo so it's not a leak. As a journalist that covers the gaming industry she is a trusted source, other so called trusted sources have now changed their tune and jumped on the 29th bandwagon. Nintendolife and probably other so called news websites are presenting this as news. A random journalist who is in the field of gaming and knows some people in the industry spouting a random date with no evidence to support it is not news IMO.

Re: Poll: Has The Latest Trailer Convinced You To Buy Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

pnott

As someone said to me on twitter when I said I actually enjoyed Sword and Shield. I am part of the group of fans that will blindly buy any game with Pokémon written on it and the reason Game Freak can year on year put out games with minimal effort and still make a fortune. So yes I’ll buy Scarlet and Violet and will most likely will enjoy it despite being told not to. I am daring to have my opinion and actually like something regardless of some deciding I shouldn’t enjoy it.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delayed To Spring 2023

pnott

Can't say I am surprised at the delay. In a previous announcement they said they were 'aiming for a 2022 release'. This time we have a more specific release period. It doesn't make much of a difference as the delay will be 3 to 4 months at most. With some big titles coming out this fall there will be a lot of games to play to fill the gap. Better to delay it and give it the time it needs to fully develop rather than rush it out to please fans.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet Announced, Releasing Worldwide On Switch In "Late 2022"

pnott

Lol people complaining that Gen 9 is happening too soon and it’s a rush job based off a 3 minute clip. No one knows how long Game Freak has been developing this game. If the presents simply ended after the PLA update and we got no Gen 9 the same moaners would be saying worst Pokemon presents ever. Damned if they do, damned if the don’t. I am thankful Game Freak decide to do rather than don’t
