Re: Nintendo Shares Video Detailing New N64 Features For Switch Online

pikku

Button mapping should have been available from day ONE, no excuse for that, Nintendo.

CRT filter is nice and arguably also should have been included day one, but whatever. Glad to see it here. LOL. (Granted, I don't know exactly what technological steps go into making this feature possible, so I could be totally wrong about it being possible on Switch 1)

Rewind is the only thing I can really understand being sorta resource-intensive and maaaaybe not possible on Switch 1, but even that seems like a stretch.

Re: 'Croc' Comparison Video Shows A Solid Yet Familiar Graphical Evolution

pikku

I think it looks great. Very faithful to the original. Not quite as pretty as the remaster of the Spyro games, but a little more faithful to the source material.

I think it would be cool if they let you swap between the old and new graphics with the press of a button, like the Halo Remaster collection did with the first two games,

Re: 'Yooka-Replaylee' Brings Back Playtonic's Love Letter To Banjo In Remastered Form

pikku

Shameless cash-grab. This should have either been 1.) A free update to the base game, or 2.) Bundled with both Yooka-Laylee games.

As-is though, this just comes off as a greedy and needless upgrade. I'm sure it will be worth it if it's your first time playing the game, but I really don't see many players returning to this if they've already played the original and it costs any more than $30. And even that price point is a hard sell.

The original game was sorta flawed, for sure. But it is still a wonderful and entirely playable game.

Re: Review: Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection (Switch) - Riddled With Issues, This Is

pikku

idk, for what it's worth, I haven't run into any of these issues playing the single player campaigns or Galactic Conquest. I have not dipped my toes into the online multiplayer yet, but I've beaten the first game's campaigns and am halfway through the second game. About 10-12 hours of gametime so far with no noticeable glitches or issues, except for the option for inverting flight controls being absent. But the game is perfectly playable for me.

$35 is definitely a little high, and the 33GB size is pretty insane to me, but for me, it's still worth it in order to play the game on the bus.

Re: Switch eShop's Massive Bethesda Sale Includes Skyrim For "Lowest Price Ever" (US)

pikku

@Baler personally, I loved Doom 2016 when it launched. (I also replayed it in 2020 before I purchased Eternal, and still found it immensely enjoyable). But When I played Eternal, It immediately wowed me. To me, just about everything in Eternal was a huge upgrade from 2016 and the game was more fun to me. Also vastly more replayble, imo. (For reference, I played through both on PC, and haven't touched the Switch ports of either yet)

But yeah, I;ve heard that some people still prefer 2016 over Eternal, as they go after quite different gameplay and stylistic choices.

@SportyMarioSonicMix

1.) I don't know
2.) I don't know
3.) I've never played Super Nintendo Power Rangers, so I can't say
4.)I don't have access to my 3DS right now but according to Google, 53 blocks.
5.) 7/10 fun but obviously dated.

Google really is your best friend.

EDIT: if you're making a series, shouldn't you actually be putting in the work yourself instead of asking other people to do it for you...?

Re: Review: Shinobi (3DS eShop / GG)

@SportyMarioSonicMix

dude this is a $3.99 game on the eShop. Give it a shot for yourself, nobody is gonna type out all of that info you're looking for 10 years later. Lol. Worst case scenario you're out 4 bucks.

Re: Feature: 16 Tracks That Need To Be In The Mario Kart 8 DLC

pikku

Solid list. Wuhu Island courses from 3DS are on the top of the list for me personally. I'd also love to see Mushroom City from Double Dash.

I just hope they change DK Mountain to be a little more narrow like it was in Double Dash as opposed to how wide it was in MKWii. I understand there are 12 people now, but c'mon.... it's so wide the perilous parts from DD are no longer anywhere near as dangerous, lol.

Re: Feature: Metroid Dread Has Plenty Of Other M's DNA, And That's No Bad Thing

pikku

I would never refer to Metroid Other M as a classic. But I also don't HATE the game. It had long, monotonous, and often awkard dialog. It had somewhat awkward controls (for a 3D game), and it had meaningless bursts of "spot the hidden object" first person sections. It was very linear, and had none of the exploration-based gameplay of previous entries. yet somehow, the beautiful graphics and mostly engaging world led me to play to the end. I'd say it's worth a playthrough, if only to experience what is probably the worst mainline Metroid game. But overall the quality of production values IS there. It just never had that strong of a vision in regards to the Metroid universe overall. But I don't hate it. Just doesn't exactly FEEL like a Metroid game. If that makes sense.

Re: Rumour: Metroid Prime Switch Remaster Is "Wrapped Up" According To Industry Insider

pikku

It might actually be nicer if they do each game individually if Nintendo actually pays them attention they deserve and fully update every aspect of the graphics, sorta like they did with the 3DS remasters of the N64 Zelda games. Of course I hope they don't change too much aside from updating the graphics (Majora 3DS, I'm looking at you...), but I'd happily pay for an OoT3D-esque remake of Prime 1.

Re: Video: Everyone Should Play Sin & Punishment

pikku

@arekdougy Yeah personally i don't usually re-map controls in most games because I like to play them the way the developers intended. (ironic considering I'm making this argument about playing the game on Classic controller when it was originally designed for N64...but still) lol. But yeah I think the option should definitely be available for anyone who does like to re-map controls for sure. Just not a deal breaker for me, especially because I do plan on getting a N64 controller when they become available.

Re: Video: Everyone Should Play Sin & Punishment

pikku

For those of you complaining about the controls on NSO... is it any different than playing on a Classic Controller Pro on the Wii VC? Because that's the only way I've ever played it and everything worked fine for me.

Re: Review: Sin and Punishment - A Genuine Treasure And No Mistake

pikku

I loved this game the first time I played it on Wii Virtual Console. I am really excited to replay it. I'm not going to be getting NSO Expansion pack until I can manage to get ahold of a pair of N64 controllers, though.

The sequel on Wii is also really good. I'd love to see that and other Wii and GCN games make it to NSO one day. Quite frankly, I would have loved if they re-released the second game on Switch with this game bundled in as a bonus for a physical title.

Re: Boo! Nintendo And LEGO Announce Three Brand New Luigi's Mansion Sets

pikku

Most of these Mario sets do nothing for me, and this batch is no different. I like Legos in general, I feel like adults would be more interested in larger-scale Lego versions of familar locales, like Luigi's Mansion itself or Peach's Castle or something with standard minifigure models for each character instead of these playset-inspired themes they've been doing. But if kids (or other adults, lol) are enjoying these, then more power to them! Lego is clearly making a profit from this series so I'm glad to see Nintendo get some publicity either way, these sets just don't do much for me personally.
