Re: Video: Let's Weigh Up the Good & Bad Things About the Nintendo Switch

pandarino

There's definitely more negatives than positives for me at the moment. If the Virtual Console details are going to be a bummer too, I will cancel my preorder and get it for Christmas with Mario..maybe there will be a bundle with more value by then. I can play Zelda on the WiiU and there are a lot of interesting titles coming to other platforms this spring.

Re: Reggie on How the Switch Will Maintain Third Party Support

Japanese third party support ...I can believe it. This will be the new Vita and get a ton of 3rd party support from Japan. Western third party support? I am very skeptical.
And there's a lot of people that wants to play the likes of Mass Effect Andromeda, Red Dead Redemption 2 AND Nintendo games but they are forced to have two gaming machines.

The interview was fun anyway !

Re: Nintendo Switch to Introduce Paid Online Service in Autumn / Fall

Wow the monthly game is not even yours till you keep being subscribed ...they aren't really putting up a facade this time about being the most greedy videogame company out there.
I just need a "no transfer" / "huge discount" on Virtual Console for game I already have purchased 2-3 times to cancel my preorder.

@impurekind no off screen play, doesn't look as good on HDTV, 50Hz in Europe, need to use that clunky "Wii mode" the console enters when playing Wii software. Not trying to be snarky, just listing possible hindrances.

Re: Editorial: The Wii U Has Been Nintendo's Lowest Selling Home Console; It Deserved Better

I surely had (have actually, still playing #FE and Earthbound) plenty of fun with the WiiU but overall I have been disappointed by the clumsy hardware (Why does the gamepad always have to be on? Why the plasticky Fisher-Price feel? And the bulky external adapter?) and scarce software: a bunch of "pretty good" entries in normally outstanding 1st party series, next to zero 3rd party support, nearly insulting VC handling.

best memory: Bayonetta 2

Also, please refrain from comparing the U to the Dreamcast: even if Sega's last console sold slightly less units, it was home to games (Phantasy Star Online, Shenmue, Jet Set Radio etc.) and features (online connectivity, window based OS, VMU) that were incredible if not downright revolutionary for its time and light years ahead of its competitors.
The only common trait I'd stress is EA's decision to not support the console being a decisive one in their demise.

Re: Nintendo Switch to Reportedly Include 4GB of RAM

pandarino

Well, that should be enough to play SNES Virtual Console games without buying an enhanced version of the console later on j/k

Honestly I don't know what to think.
Even if the Switch could effortlessly run ps4/xbone titles, in 2019/20 the third parties will start fading those systems out in favour of PS5 and XboxBigDic - leaving the Switch with just 2 to 3 years before becoming "irrelevant" outside of the Nintendo fanbase.

I would look more in the direction of the studios that are now developing games for 3DS and Vita, and Nintendo itself (of course) and just the occasional AAA port after the early lifecycle as icing on the top if the system ends up being a hit.
The Switch seems like a powerful handheld with a TV mode more than a home console that you can also play on the go, even if it is most certainly trying to be both things in the best way possible.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch Game Cards Limited To 16GB Size

pandarino

@BiasedSonyFan Sure, sure (though some games were "cross buy" or whatever they called it tbh), I am not saying they are the same exact idea but I can see people seeing some similarities in the concept of playing home console quality game on the go, especially when the Switch does kinda look like a bigger Vita more than a 3DS ...

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch Game Cards Limited To 16GB Size

pandarino

Fan Most wiiU games are less than 16GB so probably true. Not excluding bigger sizes after launch...relax guys.

@BiasedSony Vita actually played a lot of home console video games too. You could play stuff like Dead or Alive 5 or Final Fantasy X HD or Phantasy Star Online 2 while they were released on ps3/pc. The Switch basically takes to the next (and better) level a lot of embryonal ideas of the Vita and WiiU in terms of "play home console quality games away from your TV/ take your AAA game with you".

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch Will Support Micro SDXC Cards Up To 128GB In Capacity

@zool there is a second screen problem, I guess. The Switch is not dual screen from what we've seen so far. No physical retro-compatibility anyway, as for digital they could MAYBE have a mode were the Switch screen plays like the 3DS touch screen and the tv as the upper screen. We just don't know though. Also 3ds games on tv without upscaling would look like French Impressionism
