Re: Random: Nintendo Censors Canadian Interview For Daring To Mention NX

pandarino

Nintendo's adamant secrecy about a console that is supposedly coming out in 5 months and Microsoft's brilliant move to announce a new and more powerful model of their current console 18 months before it launches - undoubtedly harming sales - are making Sony look like they're geniuses of marketing with their lame ps4 slim/pro reveal XD

Re: Nintendo is Reportedly Taking 'Final Orders' on Wii U Consoles From Retailers

pandarino

@BiasedSonyFan it's a matter of taste, I can totally see it though.
I had my fun with the WiiU anyway, not a purchase I regret at all. Currently playing #FE and loving it, then it's PS4 time with FFXV and Persona 5 but then WiiU again for Breath of the wild (totally getting it before Horizon Zero Dawn). Couldn't find any of these games on PC. FFXV eventually will be ported though

Re: Review: Street Fighter Alpha 2 (New 3DS / SNES)

As a street fighter-nutty, I always had a soft spot for this version of sfa2 and for GBA's Turbo revival but I realise I treasure them because they are novelty items, b-sides and alternative mixes from one of my favourite bands.

I'd recommend the other 2 titles if you are looking for a more authentic experience...this is for the game historians, and the collectors.

@bitleman as 99% of the reviews will tell you, the game itself it's a wonder but keep hating, man. It did well at EVO because it' fun to play and to watch so please stop make up stupid narratives. It's not a flop by any means, it just underperformed and should have had a better release.

I'm playing the game on a daily basis and I can assure you the servers and matchmaking are mighty fine and the issues on release were dealt with very quickly. And come on, server problems the first few days of a game with a big online component...is anyone really surprised? I didn't have crazy wait time for matches as I did for Smash, even when the issues were at their worst.

Re: Review: Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers (New 3DS / SNES)

@TwilightOniAngel well, it's a way of seeing the thing. I see free updates with triasl, cinematic story mode, new characters and stages I can also earn by playing the game instead of paying 6-9$ as in most games...but most importantly a very good fighting game. Very finished in its mechanics: I don't care if you have 1000 modes on release date if the core game is not that good. I am not saying you are wrong, and I get your pov just that 0) the game itself is very good 1) they were very clear on what they were giving us on release 2) they have been expanding a lot 3) their system is less greedy than other games.
I do wish it had the release its mechanics deserved...

Going back on topic, SFV in its release date form seems a better purchase than this New 3ds re-releases: the price is downright shameful, there is no cross-buy and you can't even play against other players in any way. Useless. And not improving over time, unlike sfv.

@SanderEvers I am sorry you didn't like the game, it's an incredible fighter with tight and fun gameplay...with 5000+ entries at EVO, they really must have done something right, no?
I'll add Capcom was very clear on what you would get with the game on launch though, so maybe next time do a bit of research before buying (games or really anything). I am not denying it was very lacking in the single player mode but we were warned...anyway the main draw of these games is fighting other players, at least for me! Sorry if this sounded paternalistic, but I really feel SF5 doesn't deserve the hate. Overwatch and Splatoon had very similar releases and none of this.

Re: Video: We Need To Talk About Ghostbusters 2 On The NES

pandarino

@RetroTyGuy I am glad you liked it. I don't like Paul Feig's comedies, the trailers were atrocious, I am disgusted by the marketing campaign and bummed by the fact that we got this reboot instead of a proper sequel that was in the work for years - so I am not going to see it. Just not interested. Being female at least I won't have to be called a sexist just because I am not going to see a movie that I think I wouldn't like.

"In case you hadn't noticed, there's a new Ghostbusters film out at the moment, and it has endured its fair share of unfair criticism purely for having four female busters instead of four male ones. Yes, that's the kind of crazy world we now occupy."

Seriously NL?

People are mad because they are taking a beloved franchise and turning it into a hollow, throwaway movie.

I haven't seen all this nerds getting upset about the Force Awakening having a female lead! Don't fall for this diabolic narrative set up by Sony Pictures and Amy Pascal

Re: Nintendo Confirms its DLC Plans for Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE

pandarino

I am fine with this "day1" dlc because it wasn't really day 1 in Japan. The censorship thing bothers me though, even if I wouldn't buy a costume DLC (meaning something purely cosmetic) anyway I still think they shouldn't choose for their customers what is "appropriate" for them. Plus, I don't see children playing this niche jpg game or anyone get traumatised by a swimsuit...

Re: Soapbox: Game Reviews Always Need a Final Score

pandarino

Love you Alex, but I have to disagree on this.

I'm with you on the objectivity but I think it can be achieved by words and it's better not to have a number at the end of the review. The use of numbers itself can be pretty subjective and doesn't guarantee any more objectivity. And a lot of people will just skip the review and look at that number when you provide one.

It really seems every marketing campaign now needs a "9/10 insert site name" quote and some programmers don't get bonuses if the games doesn't reach a certain metacritic score, even after terrible crunches to deliver the game...and all just because some journalists decided to be edgy that day.

An half-assed review like the one Kotaku did for Starfox Zero at least doesn't feed this number crunching monster.
