I noticed the nod to Feudal Alloy in the Momodora review. Any word on how that game is? I've had my eye on it since it was announced, but haven't seen a review for it yet. What gives, NL?
Lol Kamiya's hilarious. Imagine if EVERY day, all throughout the day, you were bombarded with idiotic questions - in a FOREIGN LANGUAGE no less - about things you're neither not allowed to discuss nor can you comment on since you have no say. You'd go ban crazy too, admit it. Respect the guy's wishes, or get blocked. You wouldn't get banned if you read his bio and respect his personal rules. I've tweeted him before, praising him for Okami. I never checked to see if I was banned, and I don't particularly care. I know he reads his tweets, so he received my message. That should be enough as a fan.
Double Kick Heroes sounds awesome. Can't wait to find out which other artists are featured. Gojira definitely got my attention! Good on their marketing for that namedrop!
Inmost looks to be something special. War Groove we already know should be astounding.
Really, everything shown looks fun, I just have to be more selective due to budget. I'm more than happy with 2019's known lineup of games. Anything else announced is just icing on a lovely gaming cake.
This may be a stretch - maybe not - but, do you think the game is getting this post content as a joke on the state of gaming today? I mean why else a "Day 7" patch, and easily added T-shirts? I mean aside from the later level(s?) to be added. It feels like Suda is ripping on AAA practices. It's hilarious, and I can't wait to support it when I have the funds.
Just finished Wandersong last night, and what a delight that little game was! I teared up a smidgen at the end. Lol
Excited to finally get a chance to dive into Flipping Death tonight, and I hope to get through a good portion of Okami HD later this week before RE2 drops this Friday!
@Jack_Goetz Agreed, the voice acting seems a bit off, but I'm willing to look past that if the game turns out well. I've been meaning to add some point-and-click goodness to my Switch library.
Man I loved SOTD. Any game where a boss fight involves a homicidal killer you can hear in your proximity due to accidentally swallowing an accordion is gold. Can't wait to pick up TSA when funds allow!
Spawn Wave's review had me turned away, but NL's words have me once again interested. I check the score out of habit, but it's important to READ why the score was given. It seems the gameplay is meh (see other Suda51 games), but the tongue-in-cheek-ness is still here, almost to a nauseating state. You don't go into Suda games expecting good gameplay. He has a habit of poking fun at games themselves. But the self-aware style is what draws fans to Suda and NMH - for me at least. He's like the Banksy of gaming for the jaded. That's what you're getting here too it seems, and as long as that style of game direction is plastered everywhere in TSA, it'll be worth the slog.
What I like most about this game is how no two playthroughs are alike. You start out as a random animal, be it a gorilla, or pengin, or zebra, or lord knows what else. An hour later, you're something much more abstract, like a quark, an oxygen particle, or fire extinguisher. Eventually, you gain the ability to add whatever you want from your established encylopedia, and create a wild scene of "stuff" dancing around in the ether. There is truly nothing quite like Everything.
Link looks like a generic cosplayer, not a fantastical, heroic elf.
Samus looks like just another Halo grunt soldier. Considering the suit comes from the Chozo, it should look more alien. Check out Dave Greco's art. I think his Samus is leaps and bounds above this rendition.
Bowser looks like a God Of War troll, no character other than that of teen angst. A mohawk though? Really?
Star Fox looks cool if he didn't also look like he ate too many donuts.
And Sonic looks ridiculous. If he was going for realism, he should've went the other direction, not furry meets Gremlins.
Just picked up Iconoclasts the other night since it's finally on sale! I started playing that as a palette cleanser after working my way through Deep Nest in Hollow Knight. I couldn't go to sleep with that area on the brain. Lol Btw, Iconoclasts is great fun, and such witty writing, I love it! I still can't believe it was made by one guy!
That's all I have time for this weekend, then I'm starting Okami HD.
This makes sense in the context of online gaming. I don't see how offline, single player can be enforced, let alone would they care. The issue coming into play though, is that online gaming generates revenue. Just look at Esports. It's the same as juicing for a sports competition. Those cheaters most certainly should receive consequences. That aside, cheaters in general ruin the online multiplayer experience.
If you want to edit your offline files, who's to stop you? Have a ball, just don't bring THAT ball into the court.
VR will explode in popularity once 2 things happen:
1) VR is completely wireless as standard
2) Mario Kart goes VR, and not just that one-lap tech demo they have now. I mean a full game available for home use.
Both of these things will happen very soon, I hope.
"Everything" is one of the strangest games I've ever played. Good to see it's making its way to the switch. At first, you start as a random creature in a random environment, and eventually you gain the ability to become whatever you want, even a quark! Such a fascinating experience.
@AJ81 Just finished Yoku last night, and it was so much fun! I love that the NPCs let you go for 100% post-story, unlike so many other modern games that revert you back to a checkpoint right before beating the final boss.
My GOTYs on Switch would be Yoku's Island Express and Hollow Knight, Subnautica on PC, and Red Dead 2 on PS4.
I love the dynamic use of sound here. It reminds me of Birdman, and the visual style apes (geddit?) that of Monaco, an older indie stealth game. At first, the procedural generated levels turned me off, but it might actually make sense this time with the jazz inspired soundtrack. Could be very interesting!
Before more people start claiming Bloodstained is becoming another Mighty No. 9, need I remind you that IGA was the creative director of Castlevania, not just a mere concept artist for Simon Belmont(do you see what I did there? ).
MN9 had no chance in the first place, because the core idea behind it wasn't even rooted in good game design. I have no doubts about Bloodstained's core designs. Maybe WF was brought on board because they have successfully fused 2D with 3D in a metroidvania setting, so their experience will be of good use to iron out technical kinks in a game with similar design philosophies. Ultimately, here's hoping that's all this is for.
@AshFoxX @setezerocinco It is not a tax, so much that it's just publishers trying to take advantage of the hybrid nature of the Switch. They figure you're getting a portable version PLUS a home version, which is bs for sure, but that's their bs reason.
It'll be on sale before you know it, however. Especially with their unfortunate release time.
Pssst, hey Ubi, port Assassin's Creed Black Flag already, along with the Ezio Trilogy and the first game. People will buy these to play on the go, I promise.
Beyond excited to give this game a whirl. My friend keeps telling me a bunch of stuff about it, and it makes my head spin. I just told him, "Dude!! I'll figure it out when it comes out! I don't even have it yet!" Lol Clearly, there is an enthusiastic fanbase for this game!
@Retupmocnin Yeeeaaah, the only problem then is, will our wallets have enough bandwidth for that...
Jokes aside, this is the problem I see with modern gaming trends. Everything is more, more, more. So much excess leaving us never feeling satisfied. Sigh.
@Indielink Could have been? This article is painting it out to be something new. I don't really know because once I found out how easy it was to browse the eShop from my phone, I rarely boot up the eShop on the Switch, and just purchase all my digital games remotely.
@subpopz To be fair, GN'G was hard due in part to its floaty jumping mechanics. At least from this trailer, there's a sense that jumping is much more responsive in BPM.
I just use their more-than-serviceable website from my phone to browse and purchase and download eShop games remotely. This way, that shiny new game you purchased from your phone is waiting for you when you get home.
It's nice to see they're finally adding some more options, but it makes more sense to me to leave the Switch off until it's time to play.
The last guide I purchased was for Tomb Raider 1, on Sega Saturn. That was over 20 years ago. GameFAQs or even just typing what you're looking for in Google works just as well today. We have to face that traditional print is phasing out.
I'm surprised they haven't digitally archived their previous guides for online consumption! Sure, you can find tips and tricks online for free, but I'm willing to bet that quite a few people would have been eager to shell out a few bucks for an ebook of their favorite nostalgic game's guide, including all those wonderful screenshots and in-book artwork, immortalized in digital form. It would have been a great way to generate revenue for legacy offerings. Instead they refused to modernize.
Seeing as there doesn't appear to be large demand for it, I'm not holding my breath...but I'd REALLY love to see them port FIGHTING VIPERS to the Switch. Such a fun fighting game. Basically, VF with breakable armor, character specific weapons, and interactive arenas. Had a blast with it on Saturn years and years ago. Not sure if it was Naomi, but there was an arcade version of it I remember playing at Sega City the same time VF3 was a spectacle.
@CobraA1 I'm really not that knowledgeable on the ins and outs of hacking exploits, but I don't see a streaming app as completely harmless. Yeah, it's only streaming a feed to the Switch, however it does so by allowing an outside source into the device. Does that not sound like a trojan? Maybe not a malicious backdoor, but it has the same potential. That may not even be the reason Nintendo isn't so keen on the app, but it could be a factor since we certainly haven't a real clue other than the BS PR as you pointed out.
