Re: Random: Latest Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Glitch Messes With Reality

@IANVARIVS Blood moons occur when you've altered too many things in the game world. It's the game's clever way of resetting assets to prevent a memory crash.

So, by entering a shrine, you're resetting the assets anyway, meaning you won't get a blood moon.

You could also run around not blowing anything up, taking objects, burning grass, killing enemies, etc. and you'll never see a blood moon...but that kinda defeats playing the game. Lol

Re: Reminder: Nintendo Sending Out Survey About Daemon X Machina Demo

Framerate and other minor technical issues aside, which I'm sure they'll work to polish anyway, I enjoyed this demo quite a bit. Especially that they let you continue messing around in the hangar, and replay missions after the 4th mission is finished.

I felt the mech speed and boost were a tad sluggish, UNTIL I upgraded my Outer and noticed a significant increase for both - which you do from the LAB in the Hangar. It sounds like a lot of you here didn't access the Lab. I feel the body mods are rather integral to the game. Not only do they physically alter your character''s appearance, they also give you important upgrades like double jump while on foot, specials for blade melee, speed boosts, etc. So it's good to know you can really tailor the game's feel to your liking.

I really hope they add optional gyro aim, and that would guarantee my purchase.

As far as nitpicks go, I think the ammo drops could suspend themselves in the air where the enemy was disposed. There's already a slight auto pickup of ammo if you get close enough, so I think just letting the drops stay where they are would work.

If an enemy has multiple targets, they should stop appearing after you've destroyed one of them. Unless of course their intention was for the boss enemy to have immunity from immobilization, in which case there should be clearer directions for what you must do to defeat it. My first go around, I blew up, and started running around on foot where I could throw grenades, but they weren't effective. 2nd time around, I happened to shoot a different target, and it went to cut scene indicating I won, so I was confused. There definitely needs to be an enemy VP bar, or at least concise indicators of what you must do.

The radar is VERY USEFUL! Still, they could add up or down arrows for each blip (similar to GTA) depending on altitude, which would alleviate a lot of the complaints about not finding things. I have no issues with enemy size, since you're looking for the targets to show up anyway, and they're big enough.

A lot of little things, but they're all really easy to tweak. Excited to play more later this year! This and Astral Chain are gonna be so awesome!

Re: More Than 10 Million Players Attended Fortnite's In-Game Marshmello Concert, And It Was Amazing

This is just like the Squid Sisters during a Splatfest, only Epic took it a step further, and made it LIVE, with a REAL DJ... how are you naysayers not getting how impressive that is? And did you ever think that maybe kids enjoy this game so much because it's something they can play cooperatively with friends? THAT's the appeal to Fortnite. This game is a blast with friends. Considering how good you have to be to get a Victory Royale, the co-op also teaches kids some good communication skills. It's not all costumes and dancing, you need to have a solid, communicative squad to save each other's butts. Not to mention, there's no voice chat hassle like there is with Nintendo's own first party line-up. You plug in a headset, and boom. It works! Wow!

Btw, did you know they added a creative mode a while back where you can create your own games and rules? I recreated Block Fort from Mario Kart 64, complete with 4 ATK's for racing and battling around in. Oh, and that's also free. I haven't spent a dime on Fortnite, and have played my fair share over the least year. I understand not liking something, but if you're gonna start barking "IT'S BAD FOR YA!" without doing any research, perhaps you're the problem not the people enjoying the game.

Re: Devolver Digital's Ultra-Violent Ape Out Has Been Slightly Delayed

While it's slightly unfortunate, I have so many games I'm currently playing between Switch and PS4, I don't mind the wait if it means they care about performance. Will most likely be picking this up regardless. I'm a sucker for creative rhythm games, especially since this one is jazz themed.

Re: Rumour: Nikkei Suggests Smaller And More Affordable Switch Hardware Is On The Way

onex

This notion that they'd put out a Switch SKU with built-in Joy-Con makes ZERO sense considering certain software encourages or even necessitates detached Joy-Con to play. Most recent case in point, Fitness Boxing. You can't play that in handheld unless you could detach them from the screen. All I see coming is a dock-less Switch, maybe with minor hardware revisions, but nothing extraordinary. They could sell it alongside the launch of Fire Emblem, for $229, then drop it to $199 just in time for Pokemon.

Re: Random: Looks Like Amazon Didn't Get The Memo About Metroid Prime 4

onex

@WOLF13 No, the majority of those devs moved onto Armature, the studio responsible for ReCore for Xbox, which from what I can tell was average at best? However, Retro has since put out two excellent DK games, and they've been hiring a whole host of new talent, which is most likely comprised of Metroid Prime fans, meaning they are passionate about the franchise and willing to do a new entry proper justice. So just because the OG devs of the Prime Trilogy have moved on, that doesn't necessarily mean MP4 is dead in the water (or that those OG devs are flawless). Especially if the aforementioned rumor is true. I'd rather a dev studio with a high pedigree work on a beloved project than a studio with spotty track record, wouldn't you?

Re: Random: Looks Like Amazon Didn't Get The Memo About Metroid Prime 4

@Gerald If the rumor regarding Retro approaching Nintendo is true, they may well have a start on their own assets for it, but I don't see them using the assets for Bamco's build considering Ninty were so displeased with their concept, it led to giving the keys to Retro.

At this point, best case scenario is that Retro did indeed pitch Nintendo.

Re: Rumour: Multiple Online Listings Suggest Assassin’s Creed III Is Coming To Switch

As many others have stated, Black Flag would've been better. AC3 was decent, but lacking in verticality, which is sort of important for an AC game. Not to mention they seriously ruined Desmond's story arc! 😠
Black Flag however takes the best parts of AC3 (the naval battles), and adds a pirate theme, which was awesome. I would gladly re-purchase ACBF... AC3 not so much.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 26th)

onex

I sat down for a few hours of RE2 (PS4) last night - holy crap, they did such a terrific job so far!
Today, I played a bit of Okami HD (LOVE playing this on Switch - everything controls so smoothly, the joy-con pointer works so well for the celestial brush - even better than the Wii - and the HD rumble adds some nice touches, it's like I'm playing it for the first time, again!), Hollow Knight (no further progress made, probably shouldn't have ventured off to Deep Nest lol), and Subnautica (PS4). I'll probably be playing some Smash or more RE2 depending on present company.

Re: Nintendo Files Patent For "Eye-Tracking Enabled 3D Viewing" Technology

onex

@MeloMan None of that is needed with this. Your current TV and Switch would work just fine. All you'd need is the IR camera set up near the TV, an IR "marker" near your head, and compatible software. This could literally make any existing game 3D (yes, even 2D games with parallax scrolling) with a simple patch of code to support head tracking.

Re: Nintendo Files Patent For "Eye-Tracking Enabled 3D Viewing" Technology

onex

The thing I feel a lot of commenters are missing here is that you do not need a new fancy 3d TV for this system to work. As long as your display has a fast enough refresh rate, that's all that matters. The screen stays 2D. Your brain THINKS you're seeing a 3D image, but the head tracking device (the simple, cheap one from a Wii-mote, plus a head tracking infrared "marker") is what allows for the illusion by tricking your brain into never losing sight of your perspective. This means your eyes don't wander, thus breaking that illusion. It could work for any existing game that had a small patch added for head tracking support. SUPER CHEAP solution to immersive, 3D/VR gaming, and it's quite astonishing no one has taken advantage of Johnny Lee's discoveries sooner.
