The teaser reminded me more of 'Knights and Bikes' than anything else. Unless they updated the teaser, I assume there is no reason to try it again after update 1.2?
I still wish that the entire Springfield was one map. If I remember an old interview correctly, PS2 limitations were blamed by the devs (which seems a bit weird given the GTA series).
I gave BoTW a go on Master Mode with the following:
No talking to Impa, entering any Divine Beasts, or talking to any of the new Champions.
Finish Tarry Town
Get Master Sword
Do ~100 shrines (a few can't be completed without clearing beasts and talking to Impa)
Kill Ganon.
Wow, Calamity Ganon is difficult on Master Mode without having the beasts take out half his health. He regenerates FAST.
My other game I recommend to replay is Majora's Mask. Cleared Deku and Goron areas so far, still need Zoras and Ikana.
I voted for the ALBW 3DSXL for one reason: The triforce is right-side-up when the console is open. ALL of the other clamshell designs have the graphic upside-down when the console is actually being used.
The only game I replay in an annual ritual is 1080 Avalanche. I play it when I really wish I could be skiing, but can't. It is an incredibly comfy game, great music, snow effects that hold up today, great surround sound, and always a good time. As a bonus, doing all the standard races takes barely an hour.
Hopefully next year's will be 'Go woke, go broke'.
Edit: My theme this year was: Waiting hopefully for the Silver Falls games on 3DS and Wii U. That's darn impressive stuff for a solo dev.
That's beautiful! Besides the Vinyl Soundtrack for MOTHER, I think this is the first EBB merchandise ever distributed in the US.
I ordered it immediately after seeing this article.
Also the Kirby Dream Buffet keychain.
Wait, Wii Sports Club has 27 holes (9 each in 'Classic', 'Resort', and 'Lakeside') but Switch Sports only has 18, completely skipping the 'Lakeside' courses, and it took Nintendo 6+ months to release this update?
EDIT:
Wait, it does have the Resort 'Special' stages, so that makes 21 total?
EDIT 2:
The update trailer specifically says 21 holes, so that's it, the 9 from NES Golf/Wii Sports, 9 from resort, and 3 from resort Special, completely skipping the Wii U's 9 Lakeside courses (amusingly, the only 9 courses originally designed for an HD system).
It is disgusting that TPCI doesn't release a one-time-cost game again akin to the Game Boy TCG games. It is equally disgusting that people pay for games that use this payment model.
All the Bolson-constructed houses were clearly designed to allow a player to design their own home using the cubic modules. While Link still can buy (or re-buy) his home in Hateno, I am disappointed that he couldn't build his own home from the ground up from those literal building blocks. Perhaps that's why ToTK is taking so long.
"While the Deluxe version on Switch would include all the DLC, add the missing Battle Mode" Did you know that you can use homebrew to bring the proper Battle maps to Wii U, and they work flawlessly?
Eastern Palace (LTTP) is a flawless example of how to build a first Zelda dungeon. It is deceptively linear, but you FEEL like you're in control exploring every room. Absolute pinnacle of 'first dungeon' in any Zelda game.
@KayFiOS It is a Warriors game at its core. That said, it has more in common with Three Houses than, for instance, Age of Calamity has with BoTW. You can choose class (moveset) for each character, assign special abilities, equip particular weapons and combat arts, and direct CPU-controlled units across the stage. The best thing to do is just play the free demo. Choose your favorite house and give it a whirl.
Seashore War, Pollyanna (I Believe in You) vocal version, the Super Mario Galaxy End Credits, Grandma's Theme (Wind Waker), Calamari Inkantation, Fire Emblem: Opera of Light, Star Fox Zero/Assault's Star Wolf theme, Reincarnation, and Ending and Credits (Link to the Past) deserve high placings as well.
Can we stop with twitter API calls like this? They don't load nice in every web browser. Just copy and paste the tweet contents, especially the images, and re-upload them.
Reminder: The cloud is just someone else's computer. If you don't own the silicon that your game server runs on, someone else turn it off in an instant. Stop outsourcing.
I'm sure there is a market for physical copies of these games that were translated for the original console, but have only been released digitally on VC. Star Fox 2, Fire Emblem 1, and Earthbound Beginnings stand out as titles that people would certainly buy if made available. Then, of course, reprints of Earthbound, Fire Emblem for GC/Wii, Cubivore, and others would be nice too. Yes, I can play some of them on VC, but the Mother series ought to be available on original hardware.
@WoomyNNYes That's the case just about every field. Federal research firms like NASA hire disposable contractors instead of public servants. Universities try to load up on adjunct professors instead of tenure-track people. Even retail wants to hire seasonal employees rather than long-term people.
@its_luke_c It costs PTCI the same amount to print a highly desirable card or a Trick or Trade card. The entire business model of random packs sold at a premium that MIGHT contain something useful versus packs with fixed cards being low tier is a scummy business model, and it has been scummy since the first TCGs.
